It may just be a bad trailer, but a bad trailer makes me worried because Hollywood may forget how to make a good movie now and then, but the never forget how to sell a movie, and trailer sell movies. I really want to like it ghost busters is a beloved franchise of mine, so. I hope that this is just a a poorly put together trailer and something better will come out soon, after the executives realise that people don’t like that kind of movie, that you can talk to us like real people and we will respond well. Love the show nailed it yet again. I have to admit Im feeling extremely meh about the new Ghostbusters, to me it feels a lot like the Robocop reboot, trying too hard but in the wrong ways.
I want to like it and be wrong but struggling to like it

Mantic Elves are rather nice in my eyes… but they tried to hard to get them to fit the scale of both LOTR and Fantasy Battle and made them a little too small. They also still choose terrible colour schemes for their studio models.

First thought – It’s the Rat-Pack. Now wondering which of the BoW crew are the equivalent of Sinatra, Martin, Sammy, Lawford and Bishop.

As for Ghostbuster: The trailer is just terrible. Sub-standard special effects meet an unnecessary reboot of the franchise. I am not against a complete female cast (well, maybe a little bit since I loved the original team so much), but I don’t know if there is one character I actually really would like. Ghostbusters is one of my most favorite movie of all time and this new version I’ll maybe going to watch it on TV, but don’t expect me to watch it in the cinema or even buy the blue ray…
Jaysus, but you lads look a bit rough this morning. Some more than others. And still you managed to make it in and get the job done – now thats true professional wargamers for you!

I’m not shy about criticizing GW when they deserve it, but wanting it to be only their own models is something that I can’t have a go at the about. Its restrictive and in an ideal world I wouldn’t want to see it for the reasons warren said.
BUT, its also at warhammer world, the head office of the company and their flagship gaming place. Not allowing third party models in there makes business sense, it would be bad publicity for the photos that come out pf that tournament all be adverts for other peoples stuff. I don’t like it much, but I understand it, and if it were my business I would do exactly the same.
Looking forward to this evening too, some great stuff made it to the finals, ModCube and Warlord titan are the two I want to win, for very different reasons. One is something genuinely useful and innovative, the other is simple in my eyes the pinnacle of wargame resin production. It looks really impressive in pictures, but the parts themselves before assembly are works of art, huge but with so much fine detail, its as good as it gets.
Also, I think some of you need some hair of the dog before the filming starts, looking a bit worse for wear today.

23 minutes of talk about Warren’s nightmare and the Ghostbusters film – that’s over half the paid show’s content not talking about the hobby – can’t say I’m too pleased about that.
Each to their own @hazard, but that’s exactly what I think the paid-for backstage content is all about. On many subjects the BoW crew cover there are other sources online that cover it with more in depth expertise.
But what BoW provides better than anything else I’m aware of is community. Of course I want them to cover gaming and related things. But going off on wild tangents is natural and is the best thing about BoW – that feeling of knowing the guys, enjoying stuff with them, enjoying their enthusiasm. For me that’s a big part of the hobby.
I can sort of see where you’re coming from, @hazard – I would only add that because this weekend is the Gaming Awards, there wasn’t originally supposed to be a Weekender or XLBS at all.
Yesterday the team gave us eight pieces of content (not including intermissions and outtakes) that we don’t normally get. Tonight is the Gaming Awards finals, which (at the time of this XLBS) they still had to film. Yesterday they warned there might not be an XLBS at all, so I guess I kind of see this XLBS as “extra.” 😀
Just my two cents.

I am just wondering… when do the Finalists Show actually start? Been looking all around the BoW site for a time, but cant find it.
I think we need some scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, waffles [maybe even belgian], toast, hashbrowns, and muffins. I breakfast buffet fit for kings!

I think the tall skinny ghost at the end of the new Ghostbusters film is supposed to be Slenderman.
I think the new ghostbusters film is a marmite with half hating it & half loving it but most films are over advertised so we see half the best bites before the things even out? not a blood bowl fan but sounds sort of cheap to use old figures to make teams.
I think some (many) of the criticism of the new Ghostbusters film can be countered by the understanding that it is a reboot, not a sequel. Even if it does somewhat reference the earlier films, this doesn’t appear to be a sequel in practice.
Of course, many people dislike sequels on principle, so that’s not going to mollify everyone!
I’ll reserve judgement until I see the film.
By saying it’s a reboot that just levels a whole different set of criticisms. Such as why the fuck to we keep rebooting everything? Is there something wrong with the original?

For the record Warren, I hadn’t actually drank any sake. I knew you guys were on the cheap plonk, so I got out an empty bottle to show willing and make it as Japanese as possible. Stumbling over my words was entirely due to sleep deprivation and caffeine.

It is a massive cynical move on GW part. In the years since they stopped supporting several independent companies have produced decent fantasy football mini’s. But you can only play if you use GW stuff….It’s exactly what I don’t like about the company.
