Few factions capture the playful spirit of Relicblade quite like the Battle Pigs, and now they’re back in a brand-new boxed set packed with miniatures, lore, and updated rules.

Created by Sean Sutter and published by Metal King Studio, the Battle Pigs have been part of Relicblade’s DNA since before the game even had a name. The original sculpts date back to 2015, when the creator was still experimenting with digital sculpting in ZBrush.

Despite their humble beginnings, the characters quickly became fan favourites thanks to their quirky charm and unmistakable cartoon energy.

Now they return in premium hard-plastic form, ready to charge back onto the tabletop.

Saturday Morning Cartoon Energy

Relicblade has always leaned into a colourful, adventurous tone inspired by the 1980s and 1990s cartoon era, and the Battle Pigs embody that style perfectly.

Their design draws clear inspiration from pop-culture classics like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the collectable toy phenomenon Battle Beasts.

The result is a faction that feels like it stepped straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon: bold personalities, oversized weapons, and a healthy dose of comedic bravado.

With their toy-like aesthetic, the new hard-plastic miniatures are especially well-suited for younger hobbyists. They’re sturdy enough to survive enthusiastic gameplay — something Battle Pigs would certainly approve of.

Brand-New Hard Plastic Miniatures

This new Adversary Character Expansion introduces five updated Battle Pig miniatures cast in high-quality HIPS plastic, marking a major step forward for the faction.

The box includes:

  • Pig Warlord

  • Raider Pig

  • Shield Pig (or alternative Cudgel Pig build)

  • Soldier Pig (or alternative Axe Pig build)

  • Axe Pig (or alternative Shield Pig build)

While the kit isn’t designed as a fully modular “build-your-own pig” system, it still offers multiple alternate build options that allow hobbyists to customize their squad.

Over the years, thousands of Battle Pig sketches and designs have been created, and the new sculpts push further into the expressive cartoon style that has gradually become part of the game’s visual identity.

A Major Rules Update

Alongside the new miniatures comes an important gameplay refresh.

Because the Battle Pigs were among the earliest characters ever created for Relicblade, their original rules had begun to fall behind as the game evolved. Ironically, they were often one of the most appealing factions for new players while also being among the most difficult to play effectively.

To fix that, the updated rules were developed with input from members of the Relicblade community, including Jon Kim and Will Orford. The goal was simple: keep the faction’s chaotic personality intact while making them more fun and accessible on the tabletop.

The result is a rebalanced faction designed to deliver the wild charges, reckless tactics, and glorious mayhem that Battle Pigs should bring to every fight.

Packed with Lore and Gameplay Content

The box set includes far more than just miniatures. At its heart is a 44-page Battle Pigs booklet filled with background lore, tactics, hobby inspiration, and scenarios that explore the faction in greater depth.

Also included are:

Character Cards

  • Pig Warlord (23 points)

  • Axe Pig (12 points)

  • Shield Pig (14 points)

  • Raider Pig (16 points)

  • Soldier Pig (12 points)

Upgrade Cards

  • Banner of the Swinelord

  • Shield Wall

  • Brutal Charge

  • Cudgel

  • Warrior Lineage

Together, these cards and rules updates allow players to bring the Battle Pigs into modern Relicblade games with a fresh tactical toolkit.

A New Kind of Relicblade Box

This release represents an exciting new style of Relicblade expansion — combining miniatures, updated rules, and a lore-rich booklet into a single package.

For longtime fans of the game, it’s a nostalgic return to some of the earliest characters in the setting. For new players, it’s a chance to jump into one of the most entertaining factions in the game.

After all, when a warband of cartoonish armored pigs charges across the battlefield under the Banner of the Swinelord, subtlety probably isn’t the plan.

And in Relicblade, that’s exactly the point.
