Games Workshop dropped a nice surprise reveal for Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game fans this week. You'll soon be able to pick up a brand new miniature for Shelob, plus the sneaky trickster Gollum, as you go adventuring in Cirith Ungol.

Shelob - Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game

Shelob // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game

Shelob, the giant and terrifying spider that haunts the pass of Cirith Ungol, will be available as a brand new plastic miniature. Her terrible hunger means that she is constantly hunting, weaving her way through the tunnels of Cirith Ungol in search of prey that could be Orcs or unfortunate Hobbits who have been led astray.

She is shown clambering over a small passageway, ready to strike at her foes. If you remember The Return of the King, then this is could be the moment where Frodo thinks he has escaped, only to get stung in the back by Shelob's paralysing strike.

The set that contains Shelob will also contain a new plastic miniature for the scheming Gollum! Unfortunately, turned from a path of redemption, Sméagol has now become Gollum once again and is shown here sneaking over rocks, watching as poor Frodo gets webbed up. This could also be him in that moment before he leaps to attack Samwise on the stairs of Mount Doom.

The Path of Cirith Ungol: Shelob & Gollum set will be coming out alongside a new Journal for Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, The Treachery of Gollum.

The Treachery of Gollum // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game

The Treachery of Gollum is another snapshot of the stories of Middle-earth, covering nine narrative scenarios that follow the Hobbits as they journey through Cirith Ungol. Each of the scenarios can be played as a standalone scenario but you can also link them together into a longer campaign with rules that change based on whether Good or Evil had won previous scenarios.

As well as the scenarios, the Journal will also contain guides on painting Gollum and Shelob, ways to work on webbed Frodo and ways for you to build gaming tables that replicate the lair of Shelob up in the mountains.

Could you be tempted by this new set of miniatures and the new journal?
