As i was anticipating some weeks ago, I have contacted most of the company mentioned in my Miniatures Sourcebook.. and, despite just a few had replied, this few showed a sincere will to support our comunity and was happy to send some samples.
I have received a package from Pendraken Miniatures with 2 set of their fantastic miniatures to use as prizes for the Slow Grow Challenge!
These are the “Rioters – Pack A” and “Rioters – Pack B”.
I was so excited that I couldn’t but take some pictures of them fighting back Skynet in a ruined city 😬

Two weeks have passed since judgement day, and both the human resistance and Skynet are well represented in our Slow Grow Challenge.

The members of the group are going hard with their forces:

Michael B. has earned the FIRST BLOOD badge by being the first to post his work: a mix of 1/48 Aircrew, Necromunda arms, Mantic GCPS, left over Riverhorse Resistance Arms, 3d printed dogs, and Riverhorse Fall of Skynet minis.

The war for the future

Steve P. has taken the 3d printing path with his Papsikels resistance force.

Adam P. is using the Skynet minis from the boardgame.

David M. has earned the COMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST badge with his fantastic youtube video painting guide and his endos:

And i’m making a snowy themed Skynet force.

How to get the most out of the resistance fighters sprues

The Terminator Genisys miniatures game box comes with 4 resistance fighters sprues and 5 terminator sprue.

Each resistance sprue gives you 4 “monopose” bodies and different equipment options.

Just by swapping the weapons around you should be able to obtain 16 different composition.

The first easy conversion you can do is just removing the small tabs at the sides of each torsos:

These are intended for an out of the box use of the models without using any glue but they limit the variety of arms position.

You can see from the pictures that without this two tabs you can obtain much more variety from the same plasma rifle.

The next step is some simple headswap.

Just by cutting and swapping the heads around will produce even more different models.

Another cut can be made to the waist, just under the armour: you can then swap the torsos or simply glue them back slightly tilted to one side to reach again different positions.

If you feel confident, you can also cut and swap the legs from the two standing male bodies like shown in the pictures.

At this point, between arms repositioning and head and torso swapping you should have a good selection of different fighters to wich by using heads and bits from other kits (Project-z models are a perfect match for this) you wil be able to have 16 unique character.

Let me show you some examples of standard assembly (left) and conversion assembly (right)

And some group pictures to show the variety achieved for this small force.

The Skynet fashion week

I’ve spent last week-end taking pictures of some of the armies that i’ve built in the last two years, since this game got me back in the hobby after a bad period.

I’ve first made a “classic” resistance army using almost just the sprues that came in the game box, learning the strenght and weakness of those sculpts.

To this, piece by piece, i’ve slowly added Sarah, John, Kyle and Arnie, here replaced by a custom Cameron (from the Sarah Connor Chronicles tv series) that i’ve made from Project-z bits and green stuff that is used here with Pops stats.

The Skynet fashion week

After that, since kitbashing and converting is my favorite part, i ‘ve started working on resistance cells from different nations, something that the IP have almost never explored.

The first was a Russian force based in Alaska, inspired by one of the Salvation official novels.

I’ve used Bolt Action ww2 winter soviet bits for this, and also decided to add some cavalry unit made with Perry Miniatures horses.

The Skynet fashion week

Middle East resistance force. Again Project-z bits and Perry’s afghans.

The Skynet fashion week

Then an Australian force, with aboriginal fighters and a couple of quad bikes taken from an Airfix kit.

The Skynet fashion week

An African cell, to wich i’ve added some kid soldiers.

The Skynet fashion week

And last, for now, an Indian one.

The Skynet fashion week

Almost judgement day

To help promote the slow grow challenge and reward some of the partecipants with little prizes, last week i have reached out to many of the manufacturers featured in my miniatures sourcebook for a collaboration.

I am a real nobody in the game and did that with no expectations.. well i was very happy to see some of them interested in my project and sincerely happy to support a gaming community sending some free samples.

Through the challenge i will think a good way to give those miniatures and also buy some stuff to add to the pool of prizes.

I started working on an “army buider” pdf: i want to group all of the original, amended and new units from the official faqs in an easier to consult document, adding some examples lists to help anybody to build their forces for the game. Yesterday was all about writing lists and taking pictures for the book.

And lastly, i am also always slowly working on the NO FATE expansion/sequel. Testing some layouts and writing the story.

I’ll end the update with the first picture of the “cast” of one of the story/scenario that will be featured in a future collection: the Endo and the Girl.

Please come visit the facebook group and take part on the slow grow challenge, judgment day is 03-01-2023!

This one is just to catch your interest 😉

The 2023 Terminator Genisys tmg slow grow challenge is just the beginning.

I am already working on a new book for the game; a full expansion (or sequel as I like to call it) to the game with a continuing storyline, new rules, new units, new narrative and battle scenarios.

My plan is to expand the game in every possible way.

Here are some pictures of what i am working on.

Yeah guys, the game looks good but where are the minis?

Many members, excited to take part on the challenge, have asked for directions on where to find the right miniatures to build their forces, being the “official” line of miniatures dead, so i have created a miniatures sourcebook.

You can find it in the files section of the facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/terminatorgenisysminiaturesgame

28 pages of suggestions: from licensed minis to plastic, metal, stl, model kits, toys, everything necessary to play the game.

Sharing the complete rulebook was just the first step.

Now that everyone can have the rules i am trying to inject new excitement in the fans by creating and launching a slow grow campaign, with the objective, other than having fun, of building a 750pt resistance or Skynet force in the time of three months.

Here are the flyers that i’ve made, please feel welcome to join the facebook group and be part of the challenge!
