About the Project

Having been a fan of the film Bladerunner and all its stunning visuals since I was a kid, I have long wanted to bring some of those visuals to my terrain collection. Years ago I backed the Kickstarter launched by MAKI-Games for modular science fiction terrain/shipping containers. One of the Add-Ons was parts to make a Bladerunner style street vendor. Being of a similar mind as @avernos, I added two to my pledge and immediately packed them away upon receiving my pledge. This year I have decided to get one of the kits started, if not actually done.

With Spring almost over, I have, of course, gotten distracted by another terrain piece.  Now, in my defense it is a display stand for the Space Scrappers I am entering in a painting exhibition this weekend so I am on a time crunch.  As it is a similar project I thought I would show it off here so folks can see that I am producing terrain if not the designated piece yet.  I will also include it in my Space Scrappers posts in my Damocles Sector Project Blog once I have shown them in the competition.

The whole thing started with a chunk of an empty printer cartridge I had pulled from the laser writer at work.  Other than one Trash Bash Bits door, everything is made of repurposed junk and plastic sheeting.

I believe it was 2016 when my MAKI-Tainers pledge rewards arrived.  I immediately test fitted some pieces and was delighted at the look as well as the ease at which they fit together.  They are designed as modular bits to be built into shipping containers, buildings constructed from said containers, or just buildings in general.  I am sorry to say I couldn’t find a current online presence as I would love to send folks to them as well as get more eventually.

I took some pictures of the test builds and immediately knew the street vendor kit would be perfect for my noodle bar.  I then packed things away, beginning the long slow simmer that is my creative process.

The parts plus an air conditioner I got with some Reaper Bones. The awnings have been trimmed from the way they arrive to fit all four sides. The parts plus an air conditioner I got with some Reaper Bones. The awnings have been trimmed from the way they arrive to fit all four sides.
