About the Project

The Grail Knight Sir Bernard de Chevalier is hunting a powerful Strigoi Vampire through its cavernous home in the mountains. Cleaving his way through hordes of ghouls, lesser vampires, bats, wolves and other creatures of the night he draws near to his quarries lair where a mighty Terrorghiest’s shrieks reverberate through the walls. As Sir Bernard draws close to his epic duel five Grail Pilgrims run to the entrance of the lair, leaving the cold air and plunging into the dank, dark hole to rush to the aid of their living saint.

Unfortunately when I convert the file to a PDF it decides to just move things around so the formatting is all off, kind of annoying after I spent two hours making sure it was just right to then lose it all. Anyway here’s the rough draft for your perusal while I polish up a final campaign book. All art is AI from Bing.

Word does allow you to create a kind of pseudo web document/site which is really neat so I’ll link that as well, it’s much nicer than the PDF.

The idea came to me one afternoon and in a few hours I finished off this little campaign of sorts. The premise was pretty straightforward, instead of dungeon crawling to defeat the big monster what if we were just tagging along? Then I saw the excellent new Gallia Pilgrims from Highlands Miniatures and thought that Bretonnian Grail Pilgrims would be perfect.

The Knight is doing all the hard stuff, he’s killing the big beasties and slaying the bad guy but we can still jump into the dungeon and have fun.

I had three goals.

  1. Make some super basic rules to let people experience the story
  2. Make the campaign playable and finish-able no matter what.
  3. Find a way to encourage roleplaying the more unsavoury parts of being a peasant.

I suppose it’s up to you guys how well I did but that was my thinking. I’m not really a dungeon gamer, I don’t want to make some complex ruleset and this little campaign would be much better played in a roleplaying and beer and pretzels style. All the rules fit on a double sided A4 sheet of paper in my notes.

I also printed one of their foot Knights to be Sir Bernard. I went with a BLue and Yellow colour scheme and wanted the Pilgrims to be close to his colours but a bit more dull and appropriate for a peasant. So I printed my own, also I'm doing a Bretonnian army for the Old World so a very happy coincidence. So I printed my own, also I'm doing a Bretonnian army for the Old World so a very happy coincidence.

Sir Bernard himself. I wanted the Pilgrims to be like him but not at the same time so I kept the Blue and Yellow colour scheme but muted it down into a dark blue and light brown more suitable for a peasant.Sir Bernard himself.
