When it comes to character creation no matter what RPG you are playing, character creation can be one of the most exciting parts. Providing your characters with the skills, look and personality to adventure into the realms of the unknown, in seek of the unknown!

If you play D&D 5E, and want to add a little bit more depth to your human bard, or your elf druid - there is certainly a Kickstarter up for you that pushes the imagination to its furthest reach. With the whimsical 5E expansion - Valda's Spire of Secrets.

Quite often you will come across brand new worlds and settings to immerse yourself in on Kickstarter. But more than often now, I am finding more character growth supplements and customisation to be the particular campaign to make my eyes sparkle.

Claiming to be 'The biggest, most exciting expansion ever made for DnD 5th Edition", Spire of Secrets works as a way to expand the core rules of 5e that have been established, with new races, classes, subclasses and spells to populate your ongoing fantastical adventures.

New Races // Valda's Spire of Secrets

Four new races are on the way, and my gosh they are adorable. When Ben sends me towards a Kickstarter and says "I think you will like this", as soon as I saw these playable races, I can see why the decision was made to send it in my direction!

"The tiny yet brave Mousefolk, nimble and kindhearted to a fault; the ancient Mandrakes, tree-people and emissaries of the old woods; the Geppettins, animated playthings made of wood, cloth, or porcelain; and the Spirithost, ghostlike denizens of the Border Ethereal. It also includes the Near-Human variant race, which uses dozens of feats to express a metric ton of new human subraces."

New 5E Classes // Valda's Spire of Secrets

Along with the addition to the new races, ten new classes are making way with new spells and familiars so players do not have to journey off on their own without a whimsical buddy on hand. Alchemist, Necromancer and Witch are merely three of the new classes available in the expansion all with in-depth individuality to expand your RPG further.

Customising your D&D campaign past the constraints that have been put in place is the ideal way to feel more connected to your game. Whether it be adding diversity to your subclass, adding a starter feat or tweak your current set of 5e rules with your own variants, with the help and guide all tied in beautifully across 380 pages.

Book Preview // Valda's Spire of Secrets

If you are new to 5e, or even D&D in its entirety. Spire of Secrets not only helps veteran RPG-ers find their customised footing, but can help newer adventurers with access to playbooks.

Playbooks are described as an "innovative new way to learn 5e classes", which will take players through character building, background and lore for said character and how to level up.

If you are stacked up with settings and would like to expand on your current characters and world, Spire of Secrets will certainly enable players to push through their creativity with new ideas that are certainly out of the box.

The Kickstarter campaign was funded in the first 2.5 hours, with 20 days left to go. So if you are looking for more depth and less setting - you might want to check this out.
