Cyberpunk 2077 Video Game Gets Big New Trailer
June 11, 2018 by brennon
The team at CD Projekt Red has put forth a big new trailer for their ambitious project set in the role-playing universe of the Cyberpunk role-playing games. Check Cyberpunk 2077 out above...
The game is being crafted by the team behind The Witcher series, which is a big tick against the game as it stands. It looks like you're going to be playing as the fellow above, delving into the weird and wonderful world of Night City. You'll be clashing with gangs, hackers and big corporations...oh, and driving that slick looking car.
The game is no doubt going to be bold and interesting, packed with lots of things to do. As a long time fan of the pen & paper version of the game, I am looking forward to seeing where they take this. The bright colour scheme has me already invested, a nice change from the grim and dirty worlds we normally inhabit in video games.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this comes together. We're seeing a lot of positive pushes towards role-playing games now again in the industry and big projects like this are sure to fire up more tabletop games.
Who knows, if this goes down well we might even see someone coming back to the original role-playing game and giving it a modern tweak?

That Looks good that does.
It’s a video game. not my bag but it looks pretty.
I’ve been a fan of CDPR’s work since the first Witcher game. To say I am looking forward to this is a gross understatement. If it is even half as engrossing as the Witcher games … I pity the hobby wall/fort I have built for myself in recent months.
Instant Game of the Show. It can’t come out soon enough! With Blade Runner last year, Altered Carbon this year and Cyberpunk hopefully next year the genre is ramping up nicely.
“The game is being crafted by the team behind The Witcher series, which is a big tick against the game as it stands.”
I hate open statements like this without anything to back it up. What exactly about Witcher (which I have enjoyed) makes it a big tick against this game considering the many awards and many millions of Witcher copies sold over the years?
I think he means it is a tick in the box rather than a tick AGAINST the game.
Yes this confused me also, I can see where the comment could be a positive or a negative for this project and the Witcher.
I’m not a fan of the Witcher but can see it is a well put together game. This keeps me interested in CP2077 as I was a big fan of the RPG. Trailer tells us little so will reserve judgement. This has been in development for an absolute age. Mike Pondsmith has been involved, so that is a big plus point.
Text from the glitch at the end of the trailer:
“It’s been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGi trailer, gave some interviews and… went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of things – you announce a game and then shut up, roll your sleeves, and go to work. We wanted to give you The Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.
As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine, we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077’s pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At some point, we made a decision to resume talking about the game only when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realise you’ve been (im)impatiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldn’t like anyone to feel that we’re taking this for granted. On the contrary – it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real too :).
But, to the point. Today is the day, if you’re seeing this, it means you saw the trailer – our vision of Cyberpunk, as alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacorporations control all aspects of civilised life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don’t let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story-driven RPG. You’ll be able to create your own character and…, well, you’ll get to know the rest from what we show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for the previews!
Before we finish, you probably have some questions, right?
When? When we told you we would only release the game when it’s ready, we meant it. We’re definitely much, much closer to a release date than we were back then :), but it’s still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us – it’s the beauty of an independent studio and your own publisher.
How big? Seriously big, but… to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we’ll do this before we start talking about any pre-orders or ask anything of you.
Free DLC/Expansions/DRM? Expect nothing less than you got with the Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077 will be 100% DRM free on PC.
Microtransactions? In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?
Once again, thank you for your patience. If you have a minute, do visit cyberpunk.net and share your opinion (about anything) with us. We read everything you post and we treat it very seriously.
Yours, CD PROJEKT RED Team”

“Microtransactions? In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?”
Best statement ever.*period*
CD Projekt Red has been doing a lot of positive stuff for games since they started.
My greatest wish is for more miniatures to start popping up with this kind of hardcore cyberpunk flare!
Yes I had high hopes for Sprawl Gangers to come out from the Shadowrun people at Catalyst. The last comment from them was miniatures are complicated. This is after the deal fell through with CMON. It is past time to get some modern looking elves.
I was wondering what happened there… they were working with CMON? that just breaks my heart… I WAS SO excited about that…
I’m actually not sure how it will physically play from that trailer but the setting looks fantastic. I mean I’m guessing Witcher style 3rd person action but with guns and cyber tricks, but the trailer is cinematic so I’m extrapolating. 🙂
There are rumours that there is first person view.
No info on whether that is a mere feature during some sequences or permanent.
update from E3 : first person view appears to be the only option with possibly an exception for driving sequences.
We will know more as E3 progresses and journalists get to see a bit more detail.
5 years in the waiting and I am totally still on board with this game.
Most likely this game won’t be for me but it does look interesting based on that trailer.
They have already confirmed that you can make your own character within this game.
This was part of the hidden message that appears to at the end of the trailer.
“You’ll be able to create your own character …”
Expect more info as the press gains access to previews and possibly actual gameplay.
I haven’t been this excited for a computer game in a very long time.
There has been a 50 minute demo behind closed doors and the first impressions are in.

“The next game from the makers of The Witcher 3 is looking impressive, and perhaps most importantly, it looks like a real video game.”
oh … and you can play as either a male or female version of the fully voiced lead character named ‘V’.
Can I say *Squeee* ?
No release date yet. Not even a release year!
So that more or less means it ain’t happening this year and it might be 2020 (which would be seriously cool)
