Things From The Basement’s New 28mm Viking Terrain!
November 7, 2025 by brennon
Things from the Basement are going to be releasing a new range of 28mm scale terrain soon for use in your Dark Age wargames! This range of Viking terrain will be available to pick up from an event first before going on general sale next week!
28mm Viking Terrain // Things from the Basement
All of the terrain from Things from the Basement's new Viking range will be laser-cut MDF. There will be a mixture of different buildings alongside some nice village accessories, tables, benches and more that will be 3D printed thanks to Iain Lovecraft.
28mm Viking Terrain // Things from the Basement
All of the terrain looks spectacular and comes with lots of nice little details, which set it apart from a lot of the other plastic and MDF kits out there. I like the extra embellishments and decorations, like the shields and the icons on the tops of the buildings. The extended roof supports are also a nice touch and feel like they work well with the established look of a lot of Scandinavian settlements.

These should be a lot of fun for people to work on and would sit very nicely with the various Dark Age wargames out there right now. If you're diving into Pillage, then you always need settlements to raid, so why not pick up some of the nice kits from Things from the Basement to do so?
Things from the Basement has expanded beyond the larger buildings with some accessories like stables, pens for livestock, a well and carts. These will be great for making your Viking settlement feel that little bit more lived in.
28mm Viking Terrain - Accessories // Things from the Basement
There will also be a range of 3D printed accessories like statues, fences, stone walls, longboats, merchant ships and plenty of Viking figures from the Iain Lovecraft collection. You'll be able to get everything you need for getting your teeth stuck into a proper, fun, Viking tabletop game.
What do you make of the new Things from the Basement terrain?

nice
Looks fine, just wondering if the world needs more 28mm MDF buildings.
I love the smell of burnt mdf in the morning!
Apparently they only ship to america anyway, so not an issue for the world @fightcitymayor.
Well that’s rather stupid of them. Can’t see them lasting long then frankly.
Literally mailed them to tell them they won’t last. Sheer stupidity. Exceptionalism?
Dear grantinvanman,
I did read your aggressive and insulting email and was debating whether I should reply at all.
Things from the Basement LLC is a one-man-show and I am not able to register in all European countries for tax purposes to be allowed to ship in the first place. International shipping and taxes often add 200% to the product price so most buyers cancel their orders when being told what the final cost would be. This has led to my decision to no longer ship my products to international customers nor would I be able to supply potential distributors overseas with sufficient stock.
I appreciate OnTableTop’s efforts to promote smaller businesses who contribute to our common hobby and I am proud to be recognized in this manner. Thank you very much!
And by the way, Things from the Basement LLC is in its 10th year and going strong. Besides being restricted to the USA.
Doesn’t ship outside the USA so not sure what the point is.
The point is that there are roughly 350 million people living in the US. I don’t know where you’re from, but unless it’s India or China, you have significantly fewer countrymen than we do here. International sales are certainly nice, but there are more than enough American wargamers to support a small company that does not export to foreign markets.
nice looking set of coloured burnt wood
