Space Marines Meet Game of Thrones in Kingdom Space

The other day Justin pointed me to an interesting Kickstarter which aims to create a mobile platform video game, blending a number of different characters.  With a story borrowing elements from Game of Thrones and an art style reminiscent of Space Marines, this is Kingdom Space.

Kingdom Space

The game Kingdom Space seeks to utilise a number of different game styles and genres to tell its story and entertain. The levels can switch between different action game perspectives, from top down, to 3rd person to first person boss battles.

There are even space shooter sections.

The game is interspersed with dialogue cut scenes taking us through a story described as being akin to Game of Thrones.

In the distant future each solar system is ruled by a king.  The Valrathi system is ruled by a treacherous lord full of hate and greed.  The people of the outer planets are uprising in a revolt and the king has sent you. As the kings sword you must restore order to the kingdom... but things are not always as they seem.

Now I would be a bit worried that this game borrows a bit too much from space marines in appearance, though that hopefully should not be much of an issue. After all, there are plenty of large shoulder padded sci-fi soldiers out there.

I would also worry that the different play styles might make it a bit disjointed. However, Kingdom Space is being specifically tailored for the mobile market, focusing on short levels and regular saving opportunities for players who are bit tight for time, so the variety might work for it.

If you think Kingdom Space is worth chipping in for be sure to head over to Kickstarter and let us know what you think in the comments below.
