What’s In The Box: Legion of Everblight Spawning Vessel
June 5, 2014 by dignity
Time to take a look at an awesome unit from the Legion of Everblight! The Spawning Vessel is one of those very tricky units that can really stump you if you've not played against one before!
This one really is scary when it starts spitting out warbeasts to fight in your opponents army!

I think people would only take this for .beard. reasons – where did that come from!
But seriously i love the concept of this unit and it looks great. War machine make me constantly fight to not start yet another army!
The Pot for 3pts is just sooooo good, if I get 2 lesser out of it im up in points, my personal record is 5 in one game lol.
Ive had people spend resources like heavy jacks or heavy guns on this rather than my beasts lol
How did I miss that one ?! 🙂
I love my blood bucket, it’s a great model! 😀
It can be a bit tricky to use in practice as the full unit takes up quite a bit of real estate with pillow fisted models – with no unit leader it can’t receive a charge order so those gaffs don’t do much reliable damage, just enough to threaten unbuffed medium infantry. The flipside is that the bucket itself will usually survive a good hit once you get it into position, and once it’s there, just behind the action your opponent usually has bigger fish to fry.
Mine took a wallop from a Stormwall cannon at the weekend, leaving it on 1HP. My opponent couldn’t spare any more attacks for it for the rest of the game, leaving it free to spit out a Harrier and a pair of stingers over the next three turns. The Stingers ended up winning the game for me by assassinating Darius. Boosted, Poisoned, P+S 12 attacks coming from an angle you weren’t expecting really hurt!
Bear in mind that you can move the bucket up to 6″ if fully crewed, spawn within 3″ (doesn’t have to be completely within), then activate the beast and charge. That’s potentially quite a threat range! Having a shepherd around to move up and allow you to force the Lessers if they leave your warlock’s control area is a good idea.
Try to activate it and spawn a lesser warbeast early in your turn, that way your other activations refill the bucket in case your opponent tries to destroy it in their turn. The threat of a Lesser popping out and getting in the way can put them right off the idea 😀
If you’re thinking about trying it out, go for it it’s great! 😀 I hope you have fun with it.
Out of all the factions I’ve seen so far for Warmachine and Hordes, I do rather like some of the Everblight stuff – they remind me a bit of the original Quake game (which is a good thing in my book)
Yet to play against one – so can’t wait to see what shenanigans it can pump out.
From a modelling point of view I have to say it looks the nuts
