Well, to be honest i think this model is a lot of wasted potential. Now that they _finally_ bring out a mechanical model, the least they could have done is put some lightning into it. Look out at YouTube and you’ll find several videos there where people modded their Monoliths.
So why doesn’t put GW some darn lights into it? I mean, while not playing you could at least use it as a desk lamp!
And to add insult to injury, you have to load it before birthing. I mean, what? Its a frickin factory! Why can’t it produce some models? You should be able to do some plastic stuff in there, press the button and it should produce those models! I actually wouldn’t go so far as to demand those models to be prepainted… but well… as you said, just another way of GW to force you to spend more of your hard earned funds! 🙁
Concerning the rules: I wouldn’t call it decent. I mean, imagine a Tyranid force consisting of a couple of Zoantrophes. The Zoantrophes will just blow it away in no time!
No way its decent with these rules and at that price. What it really needs is a 2+ invulnerable save against psychic attacks. I mean, those things are frickin high tech machines! What will a little bit of magic do to them other than remove some of its finish?
But maybe in the new Codex this rule will be part of the Necron special rule and every model will get the 2+ invul save. If thats the case, I would call it decent!

you guys revealed this as an april fools joke with the title. GW hasnt even confirmed necrons as the next codex, yet. (i strongly believe it is but….) also if that was rteally comming out it would be lots more points because all its abilities are extremely overpowered.

Although I have to say that you almost had me last night. At 7:00pm PST I was on You Tube and saw the video about today’s sneak peak. The vid. ended with warren saying something about the Necron getting something this cool.
It took me about minute or two before I clicked in that it was already April fools day in the UK.

The Megalith’s Phase power also works on objectives; you can use it to move an objective marker from anywhere on the board to any position you like.

Just to throw my 2 cents into the ring for the magical loading; is the back cut out so there’s access for someone hidden under the table to place models on the platform? (Of course avoiding any mechanical jibbery). Then a slight nudge on the leg of Warren to say it’s loaded and he can ping the button again. It would explain the pause between pushing the platform down and pressing the button…

i know what it is they did that video with someone just walking up and putting a new model in thats why warren didnt push the button right away thn they edited it so they took a picture of the megalith with no one near it and put it over the place were it was while people were loading it then deleted it while warren was near it and keyed it back in after simple editing skills baffel so many people

I think I know how it was done… I think there are loads of Necros in the Megalith who, when Warren presses the lift down, quickly build a new Necro. 😛
