I followed your Bran Do Castro one, and am applying a lot of the techniques from that into my Haqqislam. And i will definitely be stripping my Protectorate warlocks and applying this technique to get them up to a better standard!
Or maybe my protectorate warjacks….dam spell correct! Please bring in an edit function BoW!!
Really enjoyed this series Romain, big thanks from me, I’ve always found using Ivory or the vallejo model colour ‘off white’ better for mixing highlights than pure white whatever base colour, it stops the highlights being so harsh to my eyes.
Yes, it also prevents the “chalkiness” of “dustiness” pure white often gives off…

I like the paintjob but I am not to sure it fits well with the model since this model has a lot of flat pannels. Not to discredit your work but wouldn’t it be easier to paint this sort of effect convincingly on a model with some curves? A warmachine steamjack for instance?
Yes it would, but I wanted to show this sort of thing was possible… The model actually has both flat panels, beveled ones, and curves, all of which i show how to do. It is not easy, but patience (and a thick yellow) is key.
I can think of easier ways to paint large surfaces yellow, but I had to at least show you one of the basic techniques for this color !
