So I’m trying to work with very dilute paints as you suggest, but I’m finding that even with a fine brush and not much on the brush that it tends to seep into crevices which doesn’t look great when you’re trying to do highlighting. I see you have some of the same issues… is this common?
It is quite common… It takes patience and technique to have proper consistency. Especially when you try to do it for a camera ! 😉 The trick is that, really, in theory, you shouldn’t even see the paint on the brush. Then you do several extreeeeemely translucent coats. The camera wouldn’ pick it up, and it wouldn’t do viewers any good to see me do it… Well, maybe one day i’ll do it, just to show you. Yes, very much so! Thanks for the inspiration. Almost finished my CitiDef team for Judge Dredd miniatures. Lots yet to do, so I’ll have to think about how to become more efficient.

Exquisite work. I had my monitor on 200% and I could still barely make out the detail, much less the gradients. Superb.
