Lots of cool stuff in this week ANNNNNNNNNDDDDDDD FIRST !!!!!!! YEAH 😛
Congratulations @oriskany 100 down here’s to the next 100 sláinte mhaith Jim.
I also wouldn’t count Dunkirk as a collaboration, Jim did the heavy lifting I just chimed in with a bit now and then.
Have to agree there, great work Jim, such a pleasure to read all the content you post
Thanks very much @avernos and @buggeroff ! Gerry, shortly after our interviews I happened to find a more detailed map with the EXACT location of 2nd Royal Ulster Rifles (part of 3rd Infantry Division at the time) along the eastern shoulder of the Dunkirk Perimeter.
Congrats to @beardragon14 on his “first” win!
Thanks @oriskany I owe it to desperate procrastination and a desire not to go out and do any mowing.
….. and all bs aside mate congrats on the 100 articles , it’s people like you who consistently make this an interesting place to be…. and if I can make a request that has little to do with the historic work you usually do ….. “Assault on the North Pole”?? It’s happening again this year??? Makes big puppy dog eyes.
@beardragon14 –
CONFIDENTIAL MILITARY INTELLIGENCE REPORT . . . EYES ONLY . . .
North Pole Defense Force (NPDF) intelligence operatives (you know . . . the people who compile the “naughty” and “nice” list every year) has confirmed that there are a number of threats gathering against Santa’s village. Military assault of some kind or another is characterized as CERTAIN and IMMINENT . . . NPDF units have been recalled off of leave and are now mobilizing to Readiness Condition ONE. 🙂 🙂 🙂
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS (hopefully this appears under @oriskany ‘s reply … If it doesn’t I am refering to it .. not to myself …. that would be awkward)
AAAAGGGHHHH!!!! Third place this week. I’m slipping. 😉 😉 😉
now we just look forward to the next 25 series @oriskany
Oy, @rasmus ! No rest, eh? Thanks very much for the comment. 😀
I would use the backpack at Fresno, California’s Zappcon in October of 2018.
Congrats @oriskany , happy to note that I read almost every article 😀 ! I’d definitely be up for some WW1 content in 2018 as I just finished up my FoW GW Germans! I’d be happy to help write up something (battle report, a small history,…) or go take pictures of some of the battlefields, museums, etc.
@warzan Some interesting historical content for 2018 would be the Battle of Kursk. There were literally millions of Soviet tanks driving onto and over German tanks (don’t quote me on that 😀 ).
Got to be Operation Michael and the Battle of Hamel for me. Hamel was in my knowledge the first true use of proper coordination between land and airforces and completely decimated the Germans facing it
Thanks, @neves1789 – indeed the Battle of Kursk is on the radar for the 75th Anniversary closer to the middle of the year (July 5, 2018).
Do you have any World War I armies to the tabletop? Or tried FoW / PSC’s game systems on the Great War? These are always the biggest challenges for article series. But if you’re interested in working on any kind of World War I themed content, drop a PM and we’ll start a discussion. 😀
For the Battle Foam backpack, I’ll be taking it to Adepticon 2018 in March. I have a badge, I have an agenda and now I shall have my backpack of holding! I’ll even let Dawn play with it!
Cancon in Canberra Australias capital for me been wanting to go back for a tournement for yonks now and transporting beloved miniatures for a 8 hour trip is a issue .
Thanks for the interview with Alex! I will have to look further into ArcWorlde. The art style is wonderful and so characterful as was intended.
The battle foam bag would be perfect to bring all my stuff to Adepticon! We usually buy one there every year anyway LoL
You can always tell who’s running the show before you press play just by looking at the length. At 1hr58, you know it’s going to be @warzan with a few tangents. 🙂
And when @oriskany got to his half century, I congratulated him but commented that in cricket, the batsman should take the applause but graft on to make his century. It’s at the century mark that the ground rises and offers their appreciation and the batsman removes his helmet and salutes the corners of the ground with his bat. Well done sir, an excellent century.
Thanks very much, @redvers – although I honestly had no idea of the cricket-themed connection to the “century” expression. I’m embarrassed to say I had to Google it (cricket’s not really big here in the US). I just thought it had a nice historical ring to it. Suffice it to say I’ve learned a lot about cricket lately, thanks very much! 😀
Any sport where you can ‘bowl a Googly’ or have fielding positions such as ‘silly point’ or ‘cow corner’ is surely worthy of anyone’s attention
Part of the Carribbean Premier League 20/20 competition is held in Florida
pfah! 20/20 – lucky man’s cricket. It’s Test match cricket for me. 🙂
But one day I do want to tour with England in the Caribbean. Need to start saving the pennies for that though.
No more new games!!! I wish these people stopped making such fantastic looking things. I have so many games that I don’t play
I would carry it to Adepticon.
Good work 🙂
I’d like to take the backpack to Gencon, but sadly don’t think my budget will allow that… so instead I’ll take it to UK Games Expo.
Alien was an original screenplay. Jaws was the first time I heard my granddad swear when the head floated out of that sunken boat.
Go to any bookstore you’ll see HBO’s next ten years of programming
Congratulations to Jim on his hard work and reaching the 100 articles milestone. Just 900 more to go until the next one 🙂
Interested to see how Dystopian Age begins to cross over their stories and fluff.
I think I would take the backpack to Salute which has a little more space when moving around. I think UKExpo being a little more channelled would see me bumping people while wearing it. Is this backpack compatible with the magna trays shown the other week?
Thanks very much, @noyjatat . Wow, 900 more? Well, if it took 3 years for the first 100, it follows that we’ll need 27 more years for the next 900. So that’s Article 1000 sometime near 2044 (when BoW is a massive multi-media goliath employing hundreds of people all around the world). Maybe Article 1000 would be the 100th Anniversary of the D-Day landings? 😀 😀 😀
I would take the backpack to the bolt action grand event.
Happy weekend everyone 🙂 Az
Great show, but what happened to the name a battle mat competition? Just want to hear who won and what it was in the end.
If I won the battle foam competition I would go to my first ever tournament. There was a Saga Tournament held in the channel islands (Guernsey) last year in May and I wanted to go. It would be nice to go if it is being run again in 2018. I found out about it in my Saga Facebook group when one of the organisers (Peter Normal) advertised it there. If I went I would be able to meet Peter, have a short holiday around my Birthday and create some cool gaming memories.
Failing that I need a home for my Bolt Action armies and a proper big points game or two of that at a tournament would be cool.
Chill @dugthefug1644 it’s coming, we don’t want too much of the show to be just prize announcements 😛 We’ll have them on next week’s show 🙂 Az
I would take the bag to the first BoW bootcamp, gangs of Rome cough, cough
@buggeroff Smooth lol definitely a win for my favourite answer. Az
thanks Az 😉 😉
I’m right there with ya! For the glory of Rome!
Well done Oriskany on reaching a mile stone.
I liked your comment on the Awards night Twitch feed that there weren’t enough Historical game winners and that we need to improve on that. I agree and if and when I come up with something I think I can actually speak with confidence on I would love to contribute in some way. (My scrape pass A-Level in History only gets me so far.)
Congrats and looking forward to some centenary First World War stories in 2018.
I would bring this backpack to Games Day Budapest.
Congratulations to @oriskany on the milestone and also a personal thanks from me for making the Flames of War Bootcamp so good.
Thanks very much, @jamjarst – although the amount of work that so many people went into that FoW Boot Camp is amazing. On the “front stage,” yes we had me, but also @johnlyons and @dignity – Michael and Igor from the ETC . . . then of course all the backstage support from Lance, Tom, Ben, and so many others.
Honestly, though, those boot camps area only as good as the participants. That 24-foot table was amazing, and still one of the most memorable wargames I’ve ever been in.
Massive well done to @oriskany I thoughly enjoy your segments, even the sci fi wargaming for me needs a historical twist so your stuff is relevant for any of my gaming.
I’m really looking forward to the Dystopian Age, one thing I love about wargaming is the fluff behind what were doing. Its why Ive stayed with 40k for so long. Im really pleased that ive been getting into WWX recently with the new releases because this move means were going to see so much more from the world. While I like the smaller games so I can get more in, knowing the bigger picture makes it all the better for me. Ill definitely be keeping an eye on this.
Nothing needs a see through head though! I understand it needs to look through its own head to see predators and survive but I dont like it!!
Im in with Core Space myself as an early bird, im really tempted to upgrade to the titan pledge though! If only it wasnt christmas in a couple of weeks 🙁 I love the way the AI emelent of game looks.
There’s a few events I’d like to go to next year with the bag, I think out of all the ones Im looking forward to most is Salute and the UK games expo. It would be so much better than trying to transport in tupperwear boxes!
Great show as usual guys, im looking dorward to the backstage tomorrow to hear more about Justins 4 Ground hobby stuff 😉
Thanks very much, @dane001 . 😀
It’s the Weekend!!
Good to see time given to niche studios like Alex and Warploque.
I could say if I won that bag that I would take it to X or Y event. But the truthful answer is that I would taking it straight to eBay to sell to fund some more 2 and 3mm goodness
Thanks for letting me know about the Kickstarter. Backed it now 😛
I would hopefully use the Backpack to take some dudes to Pax Unplugged. I enjoyed the first year, and I hope it will continue to improve.
Smogcon 2018 in Birmingham
I could take three Khador horde armies, Doom Reavers, Iron Fangs and Winter Guard
Core space was fascinating to begin with, and got a lot more interesting after the pub appeared.
Delighted to see Alex on the show, and that Walrus troll. I’ll be picking one of those up once the festive season’s over and that feeling of something in the wallet returns …
And I’d use the bag for Salute to store … a proportion of my shopping 🙂
I think I’d be taking the backpack to the uk games expo
I’d take the bag to Crisis in Antwerp.
Oriskany, many thanks for many, many great articles. We owe you big. The bag would be great to take my 1940 French army to Historicon in Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA! Super show guys!
@irondragon6 – thanks very much. One of these years I HAVE to get to Historicon, I keep meaning to and something always seems to come up. I’m just down in Florida so it’s actually not THAT big of a trip.
Would love to get our team over there to cover it next year.
We gotta figure out a way to make that happen, @stvitusdancern . 😀
If I won the Battlefoam backpack it wouldn’t get to go to any event because I’m too poor for that kind of thing (which is why a freebie would be nice 😉 )
Great interview with Alex from Warploque.
Congrats @oriskany with your 100+ articles and many more to come.
Well done @oriskany. Keep up the good work.
Thanks very much @caledor2 and @multifish ! 😀
Always wanted one of these! Id be taking it to the london 40k gt and the warhammer world 40k gt
I would go to Crisis with that bag. Just to fill it with shiney bits. Better start saving now for that to happen.
I’d like to get the Battlefoam back and take it to the local con here, The Renegade Open. That why I can show it off to my friends go say “Oh this? Well yes I did when this on Beasts of War, thanks for noticing”
Such a great show today, I had to take notes on all the comments I wanted to make!
1. I’d take the bag to Ardacon for my first ever attempt at playing a SBG tournament! Heck I guess it would be my first tournament ever!
2. I’d recommend resurrecting the Eagle Games board game Napoleon’s In Europe. Simple game system and tons of Minis.
3. For Oriskany congrats on the 100th article, great stuff!
I’d recommend an alternate history series on Operation Downfall (the invasion of Japan WW2.
4. Can’t wait for Battle companies to arrive in the Mail. I ordered it the first day you were able to order it!
Great show guys!
@silverfox8 – Thanks very much, and great suggestion on Operation Downfall (“parent” plan of Operations Coronet and Olympic, invasion of Kyushu and Honshu along the Tokyo plain). I actually have some material published by Strategy and Tactics magazine a few years ago that gives a very detailed, top-down, wargame-oriented (including a hex-and-counter game just for this) view of Downfall (October 45-March 46).
Nice! BTW I’m still re telling the story of FOW Desert Alamo! Great day and Boot Camp that was!
Those videos from the BoW Bootcamp (playlist linked below) do a great job at keeping the memory alive of that awesome battle and weekend.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLotdS9-9i0-UojADhTZRyYy2TiwBZAmVr
Video 35 starts off the megabattle. 😀
Great show. I may be one of those people Warren mentioned as unable to get over what has happened to Dystopian Wars. I was . . . still am . . . heavily invested in DW sea, air and land. I’m really not happy at the scale change for Armoured Clash or at involving Exodus into the DW storyline. I’d have been much happier at the two lines remaining separate. Still I will try to give it a chance and not just ragequit. My storage boxes of resin ships demand at least that.
As for the bag, I think it would be quite nice to take it, empty, to UK Games Expo and return with it full :D. Failing that, maybe SteamCon 2018 or a Gangs of Rome event!
Like they mentioned in the video though, DW was done. With the collapse of Spartan, the game was finished. If a few alterations mean you get to continue with the game you’re heavily invested in, that has to be worth somehting.
Cracking Weekender as always gents. Always enjoy @warzan going off on a tangent too. See-through-head fish and Jaws. Classic.
As for the Battlefoam backpack, I’ll take it to Salute. I can squeeze loads of goodies home in it and even sneak a painted one home in safety too.
I would take that Batle Foam bag to Pax Unplugged.
Another great show as ever. Maybe Jim should be historical wargame editor as well as historical wargame editor, i.e. old wargames, as well as wargames about old wars 😉
I was thinking Heavy Gear is an old classic (though I think we are getting an update on that).
Went to PAX: Unplugged this year, and Spiel last year. Going to Spiel again next year, but I think I’d like to do a more war-gaming focussed one as well, so maybe if I had that bag I’d take it to salute?
Still, want to do GenCon, but I think that might be for 2019!
I’m with @warzan with Jaws. My brother made me watch it when I was 5 and it scared me so bad it took me 25 years to watch it again… it’s now one of my favourite movies
It would have to be the RAFWA championships for me.
I’d haul my stuff to the Makettfesztival Miskolc in my backpack 🙂
Really need that bag to pick up my shiney’s from Salute.
@oriskany keep up the good work. Will send single malt when you reach 500 🙂 you might have to remind though 😉
Would love to bring the backpack empty to Salute2018 🙂
Thanks, @reiton – although by the time I reach 500 I might be past single malt, and limited to prune juice and Metamucil! 😀 😀 😀
The back pack looks awesome, I would love to take it on the plane to the mythic battles beast of war boot camp 🙂 wink wink
I’d be looking to take that backpack to Blood & Oil 2018 and BonesCon 2018. I’d also give it a shot with Tescos. My KR Multicase backpack is the best thing I have for cycling home with my weekly shopping.
I don’t visit cons, but I could take my haul in it for games 🙂
Arcworlde is a really, really cool game with a very distinct look to the models. Definitely worth checking out for the monster sculpts alone.
I might be slightly biased though, currently looking at the entire new Troubles in the North line on my hobby table. Actually managed to pull me out of a hobby slump, got really models assembled and ready for paint again!
mouse adventures. well where do I start.
first off it was hilarious watching you guys pussy foot around the fact they’re for, as we all know, mice and mystics. very diplomatic of you.
second, they’re gorgeous. now you know I like a pimped out miniatures boardgame and for me this elevates the game to the point where it will hold its own on the shelve next to monster.
I have been lucky enough to get my hands on the game recently and having spent the last few weeks complaining about wrestling with the PVC this happens.
can’t make my mind up if my timing is good or not on this one. one thing is for sure though and that is no longer will the mice and mystic miniatures be hidden amongst foam inserts, but displayed proudly amongst the best there is.
while the miniatures are blatantly for mice and mystics in would be beyond spectacular to see you go all mouse guard with them.
archworlde is UK whimsical fantasy at its best. everything about the way Alex approaches things is counter to mainstream philosophy, and I love it. sadly i’m amongst the numbers singing your praises but failing so far to put my money were my mouth is. I was absolutely torn when you went to kickstarter at the same time as moonstone.
the contribution Jim has made to keeping historical as well represented as sci fi or fantasy here on BoW is huge. well played mate.
too many topics to comment on today ,so i’ll have to leave a few in the chamber for another time.
The Arcworlde Kickstarters have always been at the most inopportune times. Usually close to Christmas when my spending money evaporates. It’s the single biggest stumbling block to my adoption of the game!
How about a series of articles on the smaller independents, there’s some great games and figures out there that could do with more exposure.
I think this every time I see a GW or PP article. Not that I’m saying BOW shouldn’t be covering those, but they’re the ones that need the publicity least!
My fav “Oriskany” article has to be the one that brought back memories of a campaign some friends and I did way back when I was in school, “Midway – 75th Anniversary”
In fact I’ve been looking at gathering the parts and pieces to try out the system Jim used in that article.
Well done on the article milestore Orkiskany,
good show (love the warploque chat I enjoyed the 1st KS and the jungle gremlins it brought but have never had money at the right time for the later ones)
and as for the bag, take it to UK games expo or salute empty and use it as a limit on the shopping
Thanks, @templar007 – the Midway 75th Anniversary would have been 100% impossible without @ecclesiastes (Hendick Jans Seijmonsbergen) and his Naval War game system. It’s free on his website: https://www.naval-war.com/
Thanks very much @orlandothetechnicoloured ! 😀
I would take the bag to adepticon and the Michigan GT.
I would take that bag to AdeptiCon or Gen Con this year.
Good show guys a lot of new pieces to consider…… I like mice models and Arc has been of interest for a while. A light hearted game would be nice. Any chance of a Lets play.
As for the bag….. has to be for my Expo expedition
Should that not be for your Expo-dition?
I’d love to go to GenCon and if I won that bag I would make the effort (maybe) 🙂
I would use the backpack to take a few Infinity Armies with me to my first Adepticon this year.
Great show, Thanks
think i would look at a new event next year Tabletop Gaming (magazine) are do a 2 day event
Mouse Adventure looks great. Seriously, I’m a very long-term fan of Brian Jacques’ Redall novel series (I think I have all 22 novels) and of course David Petersen’s Mouse Guard graphic novels and RPGs. In the Battlesystem Fantasy article series we even mentioned how it’s been used to fight larger battles in the Brian Jacques’ setting.
This would greatly help on my pilgrimage to the 2018 Origins Game Fair June 13-17 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, in Columbus, OH. I would love to go to Adepticon, by I can not travel that far because of my disability. Origins has enough miniatures gaming though to make this backpack quite helpful for me.
I would take that backpack EVERYWHERE! Joking aside, no local events here, but a pack like this would have me searching for events wider in the region … Essen maybe?
When I win the bag, I’ll bring it wherever I go!
Thanks to an early winter storm here in the states I actually had time to watch the entire 2hrs LOL!
In regards to the Battlefoam bag, I have a few but I need one for Star Wars Legion because that is what I will be using for should I win.
Sunday morning, painting up my “This War of Mine” Kickstarter with a coffee in my hand, and up comes the foreground terrain price… I nearly dropped my coffee .. Wow that terrain is amazing 🙂
I would take the bag containing Blood Red Skies to RIAT 2018.
If I won I would prob go to Gen-Con so I could carry all thee models I know I would get.
Congratulations @oriskany
The bag would be perfect for the Hispania event in March!
Thanks very much, @sanhorfra
Great show guys! Really liked the Arcworld interview.
Battle Foam: i’d like to go to a Boot Camp with it! or Gen Con.
See you guys on XLBS
I found the Six Day War – 50th anniversary spot by Oriskany to be particularly interesting. You guys really should do a weekender on resurrecting some of the games that came before. I have a copy of Battletech when it was called Battledroids. As you can imagine that got them in trouble and had to rename it. That pack needs to be filled and taken to visit Dallas from Privateer Press at Origins.
Thanks very much, @longshotte – the Six Day War series was one I really wish we could have thrown more effort at, but it was kind of last minute, I didn’t have any miniatures or armies, and we were in the middle of Midway 75th. The Arab-Israeli Wars are definitely a topic I’d like to get back to eventually – and very glad to see the Six-Day War series caught someone’s fancy. 😀
ArcWorlde is an absolutely brilliant game. Alex’s models are amazingly characterful. If anybody is in the West Yorkshire area and wants to try it, we’ve got quite a few players in our gaming group.
I’m hoping to get to Salute or UKGE next year. Would be great to have a new bag on my back.
Annoyingly, I’ve been living in Leeds for the last 20 months or so an dnot had anyone to play anything with, but I’m moving away next month, so I can’t take you up on your offer! Oh well!
the backpack would be great for going to DropFleet Invasion 2018, my fleet would fit in it so well.
Would love to go to BGG con with that bag.
I’d bring the Battlefoam pack to our club games.
I would definitely take this bag to GenCon. I’ve never been but I plan on making it this year. Hope to see you guys there.
I would used the backpack to go to my first GenCon 🙂
@oriskany well done that man 🙂
Would take to the bag to the Horus Heresy weekender in Feb next year
Thanks very much, @cousins286 . 😀
I’d love to use the backpack to take one of my warmachine and hordes armies to clog con or even Lock and Load. Maybe cygnaran trenchers/arcane tempest or the horrors that are Grymkin
a fab show guys the path of Osiris dungeon may work well on a revenge of the thousand suns table.
Nice show guys. The backpack would be with me at my first UK Games Expo next year to carry my bounty home
Nice show as always. I would take the backapack to the biggest event in Croatia Agram Arena Winter.
I would be happy to try out the backpack at UKGE. I think it is too small for Essen.
Games con would nice. The mice are cute
I definitely would like that Battlefoam backpack for GenCon. Every year GenCon gets more and more crowded. This past year there was more the 60,000 attendees! Trying to navigate through the convention center to get to your tournament while carrying your army 2000 point Kings of War army in a plastic box not the easiest thing. I carried two bottles of superglue with me to make repairs once I finally got to my table. Backpack would really be handy to keep my hands free so I could scroll through the convention map on my phone and know that my army is protected with the foam.
The Las Vegas Open, Gencon, and Origins.
Would love to go to Adepticon 2018 with that BF PP backpack.
And those miniatures are perfect for Mice and Mystics, from plaid hat games.
I would take it to Essen spiel. Because I’ve never been there and I Always wanted to go sometime. From Holland it is not that far so maybe next year.
With the boot camps would it be possible to open up the key note speeches to backstage. Being a contributor to keeping the lights burning for over 7 years you feel quite miffed when the cameras turn off especially when you can watch the same info being given out at a con somewhere. I can understand that companies want to keep future releases under their hats, but you do feel a certain exclusion when the party is just starting. Even an edited version at a later date would be quite nice.
Sorry mate I’m not sure I follow what you mean here?
We don’t have keynotes at bootcamps and if the companies have anything to say it’s pretty much always on camera 🙂
I would take my backpack to BoneCon 18 down in Birmingham. Bit o Cmon goodness, Wrath o Kings skirmishes etc.
Good show again guys, would maybe as that we could have a Section in the show where we have a news update of various Kickstarters you have given Web and Podcast time to, after all you guys might get better answers than most of us pledgee’s.
Keep up the good work, and I’ll keep sending you the coins.
Congratulations @oriskany on reaching the Century, looking forward to the next 100.
Where to take the foam bag, first of……………A BoW “Bootcamp”, to fill with the goodies from it. Then a weekends gaming with friends, and after that any gaming events i can get to.
Revisiting games from the past, i would have to go with “Doom of the Eldar” and “Horus Heresy”. Both are the Original box games, the only problem i have is finding people who would like to play them.
Thanks very much, @doomzombie – the next series of articles is already in early development. Stay tuned! 😀
Happy weekend! 🙂 I would bring the Battle Foam bag to my Warhammer tournaments.
A very belated congrats Oriskany – thank you for taking the time to produce the articles mate, they inspire and entertain every time.
Re the great battlefoam bag, I’m taking a large slice of my minis to Bonescon in Feb at the NEC here in England, and a versatile bit of kit like that would be awesome!
For the Battle Foam backpack, other than my LFGS, I’d have to say GenCon
The Battle Foam Backpack would be brought to Games Day if I’d win 🙂
Ohh looking forward to seeing how that pack works!
Ohh looking forward to seeing how that pack works! I would love to take it with me to CanCon is AUS or GenCON would be the dream!
That backpack would definitely come in handy for Cancon 2018.
Congrats on the milestone @oriskany, enjoyed reading through your articles and look forward to continuing to do so in the future!
Thanks very much, @fireblarney – hope they continue to find favor! 😀
A backpack/rugsack is very handy is very handy when you walk or ride your bicycle to your FLGS to play games.
Congrats Oriskany, so much good work there. I’d love the pack and hopefully, it would take me to Gencon or Salute.
Thanks very much, @falerox ! 😀
Next year will be my first year going to Gen Con, I would gladly wear the battle foam backpack to the event. I’m giddy about attending, I always wanted to attend but family responsibilities always have kept me home. Gen Con 2018 is daddies time, pray for my wallet.
tactica hamburg
Actually going to Arnhem next September during the commemorative weekend to play Bolt Action A Bridge to Far scenario. Geek weekend, gonna be great
The backpack looks nice but sorry Az in my view backpacks should be banned at conventions and any other crowded venue, I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve been bashed by backpacks being worn by people forgetting, or not caring, they have a large protrusion on their back. Moan over. Great show, loved the mice. Congratulations to Oriskany, I have learnt so much from his excellent articles, looking forward to the next 100.
Jim you are truly a master, i think of you every time i attend historical wwIi re-enactment event down here in texas. i think you’ll love the stuff they do. we shot a film with these guys and it’s a special treat. awesome show guys.
Thanks very much, @gremlin , seriously. There have been many articles where you’re the first guy kicking off the comment thread, your support has not gone unnoticed. 😀
Thanks very much, @wazarov – I’d love to see some stills from those videos! 😀
i’ll send you links to the short films, most the actors are veterans, they wanted to tell some stories and i helped them make it, i showed them some bolt action stuff while we were planing the shoots, none of them knew about tabletop war gaming so some of them ended up getting into it 😉
I’ve got the links and will watch some of them during lunch today (classic “Monday back to work after vacation” morning . . . ergghh)
@oriskany here is the trailer, hope you enjoy (filmed in Oklahoma):

Great looking backpack. I’d love to use that backpack to transport around my kingdom death monster minis to my local game store to do some demo games.
It will have to be Adepticon Windy City 40k Four person Team Tournament for that battle bag. I have been doing it for years and it still fun.
@oriskany Thank you for all the great work you have done here. I would love you to do another run of Battletech content.
Thanks, @spacewolflord – any particular campaign or setting from Battletech? It’s gotta be something vaguely Clan-based since those are mostly the miniatures I have.
Alien wasn’t a book before the film. It was a spec script by Dan O’Bannon called Star Beast that got heavy re-writes to become Alien
I would take the backpack to Historicon in Lancaster, PA. The great thing about Battle Foam is that I can swap out the foam inserts depending on the army I need.
Happy weekend ! I would use backpack to another Bootcamp that its not announced yet !
i promise that if or when i get the blacksmiths guild box that i won form gen con prizes arrive. i will do my first blog!!
Arcworlde is cool, Alex is ace! I wish I had more of his elves! 🙂
As for the Battlefoam pack, I would bring that to Warhammer and Infinity tournaments.
Congrats to Oriskany! 🙂
Thank you for the prize! 🙂
And I would take the bag to the miniatures conventions around in Hungary.
Thanks very much, @felfeni . Cool icon!
I love the independent sculptors like Alex, his arceworld range are amazing. Same as the Moonstone kickstarter and those little mices in this video – the whole industry is accessible for smaller projects that can now reach a lot more people.
Because of this increase in range, storage is an issue, so as I’ve bought myself soo omany things I really need a bag to carry them around with me, a battlefoam bag for instance, I could then take them to my games club, to uk games expo and run games for the more independent rulesets to help keep this small part of the industry going.
Adepticon or Gencon would be my choice.
Have my ticket and Hotel booked, so I the back-pack would have to come to Games Expo 2018.
Would love to have that bag when attending GenCon this year.
you should have a lets play for Battletech on the website
I second the motion, although it would have to be a smaller game to get it into a 1- or 2- hour video (lance on lance, maybe). Alpha Strike might be an option. 😀
The show was great!
And if I were to win the backpack, I’d use it to take my minis to the game nights.
Many congratulations to Oriskany for the quality as well as the quantity of your articles.
I would love to take that backpack to Salute, especially if I could sit on it while I was in the queue. But if I ended up crushing my 30K World Eaters Legion I would be inconsolable.
Thanks very much, @blackmesa ! 😀
I’d use the backpack for BOYL!
well id love to go to all these tournaments and days out but having shit health it stops me, so the backpack if i were to win would be used to ferry my figures back and forth to my local club and games store.
once a year the foams would be removed for my annual pilgrimage to Salute where months of captivity and inability to travel far would culminate in the usual spending frenzy, child like excitement and of course the back stage meet up.
Really looking forwrds to all the new series and posts. Nice to see a story about how someone got into the industry and very interesting. The backpack looks simply stunning and I would love to take it to not just my local games evenings, but also something like Bonescon.
Really excited about dystopian age if i were win the battle foam bag i would take it to salute and colours, i would leave it empty and fill it up with loot will i was there
I could use this pack to take my collection through the long train journeys without worrying.
Nice stuff this week, there’s some lovely charm in those Arcworlde sculpts.
Also good to hear about the Dystopian Age developments. I haven’t played any of them but this could be a real boost in bringing a larger community together.
I would like the bag to go to Alpha Ares in Barcelona. I missed it this year, which I think was the first time the event was held as part of the larger DAU. I’ve been going to Alpha Areas on and off for several years and despite admiring the many entries in the painting competition and the wonderful display games, I’ve not actually contributed any figures myself. It’s time to show some love and give a little back!
I would love to take the Battle foam bag to Conquest 2018, but I would have to pull my thum out.
The Battle Foam bag would be taken to the weekly games.
I don’t often go to gaming cons, but if I were, I’d bring my collection in the Battle Foam backpack.
Me me me
Congrats to @oriskany ! Very impressive! Backpack to Adepticon!
Thanks very much, @attilla13 ! 😀
Congrats Oriskany! Keep the historical stuff coming!
Speaking of which, I would take the Battlefoam backpack to Historicon 2018!
Thanks very much, @jlamanna ! 🙂
I will bring the bag to some eu wh masters tournament or at a convention in Barcelona or across Europe, salute, Essen, crisis…
I would take the backpack to my local gaming store for a warmachine/hordes tourney!
I’d take the backpack to either BonesCon in February or the Gangs of Rome Bootcamp.
UK games expo. Didn’t get to go this year.
Maybe I’m late to the party, catching up after some overseas deployment time… planning on hitting GENCON in 2018, it will bet he first time since the late 90s and a new backpack would definitely make carrying those minis around.
