Happy Sunday all
Wow that was close to instant!
welcome to insomnia
happy sunday!
Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday fellow CoG members!
It’s the XLBS Show…….
Will Warren continue with his grumpy “who cares” attitude?
Will Gerry get in some words about his hobby-time from this week or just grin at Warren’s rants?
Will Justin continue to call down Warren for his bad non-productive attitude?
Will Lloyd continue to smile and giggle at Warren for doing on camera what Lloyd has probable seen and heard him do before in private for all these years as brothers are want to do. Yes, I feel confident about this one as we all know Lloyd will giggle at his big bro for ranting on camera, and we will giggle with him!
Put your feet up and enjoy your choice drink as another wild XLBS rolls out of the can! ??
lol on the whole I’m much more relaxed in this one 😉
Cool, I might get all the way to the end of this one then :p
If you go to Disney World or Land you have to go to Galaxy Edge.
I agree with Laughingboy it’s a 10.
Both my girls love building droids and lightsabers.
Happy Sunday!
Great show Team!
@dignity the stl files used in the terrain @sundancer gloriously created are from the below links:

Also, the mystery ‘grey’ terrain piece from the tabletop shot from the tourney is I believe from Imperial terrain:

Anybody else experiencing low video quality. Its still not bad, but I can see white speckles. Is their camera damaged?
Yup, I just noticed that too.
It’s rods! Anyone remember those? The hidden flying alien thingies!?
f**k yeah! I remember those.
I must inform @dignity lol
Is it just me but is there some “snow” flashes on the recording?
minor malfunction in the system we are tracking down
Cheers Warzan, as no-one else had been rude enough to mention it I wasn’t sure if my iPad wasn’t on the blink! Happy Sunday dude!
“That’s our community oh there’s a photo of a bleeding Nazi that’s lovely”
@laughingboy answers the phone “it’s called BDSM gear Llyod”
Haha I think I sent those Crusaders about 2 years ago, Warren must be good at hiding stuff.
Very cool Paras. “on the Patent Pending Bases” yeah I do regret not getting a Patent on them if I did I’d probably own a good chunk of your house 🙂
You know what’s really funny though? If I remember right that picture of a “Nazi” was about how the guy wasn’t really a Nazi and Scale 75 got bullied to pulling a Kickstarter because people online saw him and just assumed he was a Nazi.
lol I actually said ‘leading nazi’ – but clearly I was wrong on that count as well.
I dont want to knee jerk to a conclusion on the scale75 storm in a teacup.
So I’m still letting the whole thing percolate in my mind. lol
And yes hands up I did tuck the crusaders away lol
Cant wait to get a start on them now 🙂
Happy Sunday one and all.
I’ll be watching a little later, but wanted to get a quick one in ( as it were ) about ( my lack ) of motivation. My tiny hobby brain is absolutely chock full with idea after idea for system after system and mini after mini, but my motivation just disappears down the lack of motivation toilet almost immediately after i have the idea.
To me, @laughingboy will now in my head always look like Sean Connery in a jockstrap…
Anyways, I don’t pack away my armies. Never. I used to, but then nothing got done. When I got myself a house and built my gaming room, I got glass cabinets to put my armies in (I think I have about 30, for a lot of systems). There they sit, in different states of completeness. But when the hobby bug grabs me, I can easily find something I want to work on, and not limit myself to whatever is not boxed away. Then I can do what I *want* to do, and not what I feel I *have* to do. Grab a Warmaster unit. Finish up some 1st ed Space Hulk Terminators. Put a wash on some modern 1/2400 ships. I have options, and I can see all my options.
Morning guys
Regarding terrain for StarWars table, try to take a look at this site
https://imperialterrain.com/
Have a nice weekend
There have been several periods where I lacked motivation to hobby and during those periods I did other things, like game more. I’ve also now restricted the amount of different games I play, having too many projects on the go at once can be an issue. These days if I’m in a funk painting gaming minis I’ll switch to a 54mm project where I can take my time painting.
A few years back I used to run a painting club, called Sheffield Irregulars where we’d meet up on a Sunday as a club to paint and hang out. I found I ended up painting more when I’m with other like minded folk.
Fortunately the club I go to these days (Castle Gaming) has a painting night on a Thursday, where we all sit around painting and talking utter nonsense. It means that at least one evening a week I definitely will be slapping some paint on a mini.
I’m currently in a funk but not for this hobby but fitness training, i had an injury and I’m currently unmotivated to get back into the gym on a regular basis. So I’m doing small little workouts and slowly building back up to getting back in the gym on a regular basis. I’d say for the same with the hobby, dont try and paint an army, build upto it, build and paint terrain or an individual mini that’s not related to your army.
Heya guys , brilliant show as usual, nice to see those para’s getting some love @warzan. Those min’s were painted with the old flip top paints from GW, hence why they were so bright( the old white top; black top metals; blue top washes ans inks @avernos will know the ones, and probably still have some). The mini’s themselves were from Scarab Miniatures in the UK. they wee a mixture of the para’s, the marine commando’s and the standard british infantry, which a few got some , very dodgy and brutal conversion work so they would look similar from a distance. And yes Gerry the umbrella was a conversion; part of a fine metal paperclip (the handle), some tissues (for the brolly itself) and some very fine sewing thread for the tip of the brolly, and some Selleys PVA woodglue watered down to “harden” the tissues….
Mrs Recon63 said ” Nice to see that Justin (@dignity) finally got his blankie and he likes it so much,……
However, Llyod so much as attempts to take the blankie from Justin,……again! ”
Demands a passport this instant & airfare to Colraine; [CENSORED]; acts of violence; {CENSORED}; removes Lloyd’s colon via his nasal cavity; [Censored]; plays jump-rope with the remains of lloyd’s intestinal fortitude…..
Now that I’ve managed to calm down Mrs Recon63 and she has stopped throwing crockery at images of Llyod,as I said great show, very interesting use of the Discord (tech caveman here with no camera or mike, please don’t call), Hope to see it used more in future episodes.
@warzan I know what it feels like to get down in a “rut” with hobby, and I must say the I have found that the OTT/Beasts website & content has helped immensely with my own “issues” and has got me painting again, even if it is more of the lord of the rings mini’s that I found after I sent Sam that big bundle.
Looking forward to see the Star Wars hobby weekender when it happens. I’ll be very interested in what tables and hobbying is done.
I get out of Hobby ruts in a weird way. I just put it all away then someone says “Oh you’ve got some X why don’t we have a game of that next fortnight?” and I go home and start painting 🙂
Getting some display shelves has also massively increased my productivity, no all I need is for people to actually come visit me to show the stuff off but one step at a time.
I really hate deadlines, I hate having to get something done by date X. I know that sounds a bit contradictory with what I said earlier but there’s a difference between a friendly club game where if those few minis aren’t painted who cares and taking something to an event where everything needs to be perfect.
Good morning y’all. I’m making tomato sauce and try not to spill anything whilst watching XD
Slaters plastikard do lot of different type of Checker plate
How long before that blanket becomes like the Battle of Hoth?
Now watched the show properly!
On hobby block/ burnout/ guilt: I was feeling this recently too. I took a break, switched to video games and Netflix for a month or so. When I came back I picked *part* of what I’d been working on previously ( 40K Conquest magazine) but just the bits that I really wanted to do. Then alternated that with my Elf project that I’ve had on the back burner for a while. This way I feel I’m making a little progress on both projects. I’m doing what I enjoy, not what I feel I “should” do. I’m having much more fun with both.
Eek!! Gerry in lycra ?
@warzan Didn’t know you were left handed. :~]
The best thing I have found to beat my hobby funk is getting together with friends to do a themed month of play. This month we are doing Batman and I just working ON Batman stuff. Minis, terrain etc, and every club night in November wwe will play Batman. Everything else I have set aside and I’m not even thinking about e. G. Infinity, Kings of War etc.
nice tip!
I’m right handed ut was told to wear the thing on the left lol
@warzan hand tremor can almost totally be eliminated if you keep your hands joined while painting. Being nearly 50 this is something I battle with too.
I prefer to keep my wrists pushed together but resting fingers of the painting hand on the model hand can work too.
thanks @warbossd I will give that a go mate
Cheers. I’m getting to the stage where I need to adopt this.
Happy Sunday indeed.
Oh noes! The edit forgot to enter my correction! The 3D printed parts weren’t send by @horati0nosebl0wer but by @evilstu I’m just bad at names… much apologies..
Also: it’s rather weird hearing yourself…. at least to me…
No worries @sundancer really happy to see the bits being put to such good use 🙂 congrats on the Golden Button 🙂
@dignity I sent through a post earlier but it got caught for moderator approval due to the number of links. If you search for ‘Star Wars Greebles’ on Thingiverse yo should find most of the relevant STL files. Also that corner building at the tournament nobody could identify was an STL from the company ‘Imperial Terrain’. They do some good stuff 🙂
So the blanket is not a lie 😉 Great show as usual…
Also: if you’re want to be on the show when these guys call you: use the discord app on windows 10 machines. It makes your life much better ,)
Not a lie, but a truth best experienced from a distance. My sympathies to those sharing a room with that crusty mess! 😉
I probably have enough model’s to open a shop the numbers I have an boxing them does help I think, it’s like having a cat staring at you all the time if not.
That’s a fabulous looking figure Martin.
Wood is a very pale yellowy white I think?
I quite often hit periods of low motivation when painting armies despite painting being my favourite aspect of the hobby. I often have an alternative model/game that I paint to take a break (who am I kidding, I have way too many ‘side projects’ to dip in to!!).
@warzan great job with the basing!
@dignity how long did the tree print take?
7 hours for that one 🙂
Great work on the marvel figures Gerry.
Lol a great fun show. happy Remembrance Sunday everywhere.
Happy Sunday!
Oh my wife just informed me: I don’t sound anything like that in the video… well… I’ll take it for what it is. I really do hope I don’t sound like a teenager… I need a more grumpy voice. 😉
lol
My tip for getting out of your hobby funk is start something new. Unfortunately in my case the next funk usually arrives before I’ve finished something new and nothing ever gets done.
HAPPY SUNDAY……
@sundancer*blinking some of the sleep out in recovery of the weekend* Hrm? Credit for something good? I’ll take that.
Leading Hussars in charges over the grassy fields of Poland to act as sworn sword and shield of Christendom; figthing tooth and nail on the pitch while pitted against teams of all shapes and sizes to seize numerous titles; flying as an ace pilot in a krakshott squadron of great renown to be heralded for his prowess… you bet your aunt Nelly’s sweet patootie it was Horatio Noseblower! Now go away, I’ve got sleep to catch up on.
I hope my hobby funk will come to an end when my IKEA funk is over. This was a great episode and a great listen. Now to get the rest of a full wall of bookshelf cabinets put together to the hobby area / basement is ready for organizing. I cant remember who has the wall of IKEA with the LEDs but that was our inspiration.
The great thing about the shelves will be my unfinished armies will still have a place. They will get put away until the next step but still not get shoved away as some red headed stepchild. The hope is there will be a place to show off what I have done and also keep what needs more work better organized.
I’m much the same as Gerry in that i’m a hobby butterfly. I currently have my Droids on the go (as Lloyd mentioned), my Mythic Battles, 3D Printed Scenery and others. I have come to accept that I can’t sit and complete a whole project at once and i’m happy with that.
I have sold off a lot of unfinished projects that I was never going to get done and that has helped with the feeling of hobby burden. Warren is right in that putting an army out the way can help. Then you can take it out once you feel the urge to do a part of it, and not worry so much about doing it all.
Even said Droids, I have done all the B1 troopers, but will come back to Grevious and the Droidekas at a later date.
Being a butterfly helps keep my hobby productivity up!
I’m working on 3 big project at the same time, my Dark Angels, my fantasy army and my terrain pieces for my table at the moment and then I have numerous small projects like a single miniature going on. My goal for everyday is to get some hobby done in any of the projects and I’m happy. This way I can do various different things and still be happy about what I did. I don’t set a goal usually like I want to have it done before a specific time, if I do it’s usually for an event or so, this keeps the pressure off and the fun in the hobby for me.
Great show thank fellas!
