Here's the lovely lore dump that Para Bellum dropped to introduce this set for folks...

"Years have passed since the fabled Battle of Nepenthe in Riismark, when humanity and the Spires waged open war for the first time in centuries. Fredrik, King of Brandengrad and de facto ruler of the whole of Riismark, found himself abandoned by the rest of his peers in the Conclave and his lands besieged on all fronts. To secure one front at least, he acknowledged and honored his family’s debt to his enemy: the Alchemist of the Nepenthe Spire. But after pushing back the Nords with the help of the Orders, the Order of the Sword refused to surrender control of the reclaimed lands. Abandoned by the Heartlands, he knows that honoring his dept to the Alchemist for another year would cripple his nation, struggling for resources as they are. So now Fredrik prepares for the Alchemist to claim his payment once more. For he knows well: Nepenthe remembers—until forever."

This is a classic tale from the lore of Conquest and now, you can get your hands on a limited edition Two Player Starter Set, which allows you to tell that story. Within, you'll find new miniatures for Fredrik, King of Brandengrad, who has made a bargain with the forces of The Spire and The Alchemist, who commands them.

Within this set, you'll then get enough miniatures for you to make armies to use in the large, rank and flank wargame, The Last Argument of Kings but also First Blood, their skirmish game.

Alchemist (Biomancer) - Conquest

To aid in that, the set comes with some books that will guide you through the process of telling this tale and seeing how the story unfolds when The Hundred Kingdoms and The Spires go to war once a bargain has been broken.

You will also get the novella (above), which contains three stories that tell you more about what happened during The Nepenthe Campaign. This seems like a perfect set for someone who wants to tell a specific story within the world of Conquest but also perhaps even start with two lore-focused armies. All of the miniatures are available for use in the larger game of Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings, with even the characters working as a Noble Lord and Biomancer.

This set also comes with more miniatures (above), including the Spires High Clone Executor, Bound Clones, Desolation Drones, a Pteraphon, Priory Commander, Men-At-Arms, Longbowmen and a set of knights of the Order of the Crimson Tower. A solid set of miniatures for both First Blood and The Last Argument of Kings. You even get some nice Objective Markers and other accessories to get you started in Conquest.

The only catch is that this set is limited to just 500 sets. At the time of writing, there are still pre-orders available, so if you'd like to get your hands on this, make sure to head on over to the Para Bellum Games webstore and snap it up.

What do you make of this new set?
