Napoleonica mixes together history and fantasy, where you take command of armies of the Napoleonic era. Will you take on the role of the French or the British Empire? Perhaps you'll throw your lot in with the evil-stricken Legions of Abyss?
Gameplay // Napoleonica: Steel and Magic
Napoleonica: Steel and Magic will offer a wide variety of game modes for you to dive into. If you prefer short battles, they have scenarios for you. If you like big battles, you can dive into those too. If you'd prefer to go down the solo route, Signum Games has also introduced ways for you to do battle on your own against your nemesis!
Gameplay // Napoleonica: Steel and Magic
The game features some fascinating mechanics that will be fun for those looking for something a bit different. Games of Napoleonica have very low downtime, with four-phase rounds - Order, Reinforcement, Battle, End. A lot of gameplay is then driven by the Order System, where you draw coloured tokens to then activate your units.
The game also features a Fatigue mechanic, showing off the toll that war takes on your units. This limits the number of times you can activate a unit and prompts you to think of the army as a whole, changing up your tactics to suit the entire force on the tabletop.

As well as being a miniatures game, Napoleonica also brings together card-based mechanics with the use of the Command Tablet. Here, you will manage your reinforcements, track victory points and see who has initiative. Talking of reinforcements, Napoleonica features a unique mechanic where damaged units are restored on a reinforcement tracker, which means you've always got another chance to dive back into the action.
If you'd like to learn more about the game mechanics, you can check out the video below from Signum Games...

>AI voiceover in the trailer
See yourself to the trash can, will you?
The miniatures also look AI generated. I don’t know, maybe unfair to some sculptor who’s worked hard on it, but hard pass for me.
Love the sculpts on this range.
I’ll stick with Slaughterloo and Flintloque, thanks.
