Guys you wrong about the gate of infinity. Codex space marines in page clearly 57 states that: The librarian and ANY unit he is with, are removed from the tabletob and immidiately placed back together anywhere within 24″ using the deep strike rules.
it is this sentence: “ANY UNIT HE IS WITH” that clearly states what this power is really about.
if you check codex sm page 83 you can see land raider redeemer. it says UNIT COMPOSITION: LAND RAIDER,
UNIT TYPE: TANK. THEREFORE LAND RAIDER IS A UNIT AND VERY WELL ABLE TO DEEPSTRIKE TROUGHT GATE OF INFINITY. It can be imagined like this, Librarian open a gate in front of the trasport he is with and then they just drive trouht the gate. Librarian can be wery well be WITH a unit of infantry and a unit of transport at the same time. The very reason why it is written “ANY UNIT HE IS WITH” is because its meant to deepstrike a trasport, bikes, etc…If this would not be the case it would clearly say something like this: vehicles and bikes etc cant be brought trought the gate. When a rule clearly says ANY UNIT it means any unit, and trasports are units in defenition by codex! So you guys got it wrong in my opinion.
of course what comes to assaulting from the land raider in the same turn it would be no! normal deep strike rules would apply and if i remember storm ravens afther deepstriking cant allow assaults in that turn they come in to table?
Also the spirit of the game and the spirit of the rules you said that that it would be not ok to have a deepstriking land raider?
But It is ok to have a Flying librarian dreadnought? or a furioso dreadnought with blood talons able to wipe out 10 terminators in single turn? or a wolfguard army full of terminators counting as scoring units? HELLOOOOO ANYONE HOME?
For a normal codex marines deepstriking transport is the only thing they got compared to the new codexes of blood angels and space wolfs. When i think about WH40k, its about massive mega fantasy battle. All publications point to that. all the new codexes point to that. So having a land raider driving trough a gate of infinity is a small thing that happens every day and is very well in the spirit of the game .Just think about the new codexes, its clear that the spirit of the WH40k=CHEESE.
so what do you think? I really hope to get an answer to this? Many thanks: Mahtix!
Rock on brother I think you are right. I also think that he could blink out of h2h.
I still have to continnue a bit..
how big of a difference is this to a monolith? not big, except monolith is still better and does not need a psyker to deepstrike it. or outflanking baal predators and storm ravens? librarians powers does not make a deepstriking landraider unfair in the terms of the game, it puts it in the same realm! And yes! a librarian in a vehicle is with a vehicle unit, so force dome giving +5 invunerable to a tank is also possible. But you want cheese..here we have cheese. Landraider with Brothercaptain Chronus. inside goes a techmarine with servo harness and 4 tec servitors +librarian epistolary with powers gate of infinity and force dome. Here we have Rules LEGAL deepstriking landraider +5invunerable save and +2selfrepairing unit. AND ITS STILL NOT CHEESY COMPARED TO THE THINGS THAT U CAN MAKE IN CODEX BLOOD ANGELS OR SPACE WOLFS.
if you dont want to have cheesy games, it means no special characters and no psykers. But if you want to play special characters you enter the realm of cheese and then you should not complain about other people using their imagination to create super Uber units. i think that with the current rules a big part of the fun is to create these challenges for your opponent to beat. and tournaments should not have unique/special units because they are a big balance breaker.
I shall end my nerd rage! Thank you!
Mahtix
I would like to know just how you get to the conclusion that he cannot just blink out of melee combat? Its just like that necron power to zip away from melee combat.
