Building a Fort as a child is so satisfying and liberating. When you have a group of friends together, ready to construct a new foundation for nothing more but to conspire madness and corrupt into mischief. The 2-4 player board game from Leder Games does just that, and now there is an expansion underway, and players have been told that they are allowed to get their own pet, in Fort: Cats & Dogs Expansion.

Fort: Cats & Dogs Expansion // Leder Games

For those who have not played Fort before, the premise is simple: Players will take on the role of children in the midst of constructing the coolest fort ever known to any child. They aspire to hoard their favourite childhood treasures inside, whether it be slices of pizza or their own toys - the fort will become the stronghold for their coveted goodies and a hiding place for children alike.

Each cool item that is held by a player will equate to victory points, and the player with the most by the end of the game will be crowned the champ. But be warned, just cause these kids may be in your fort - it does not mean they are genuinely your friends! Be careful of the stabby aspects of the game from your opponents, as they will try to trick you and cause others more frustration.

But do remember, if the game is yours, you do not have to invite them back to the next games night!

Fort: Cats & Dogs Expansion // Leder Games

Now that the kids have settled in their fort, they have begged and pleaded to their parents about getting another member of the family added to further add to the mischief created by the initial fort. They have agreed and now pets are being welcomed as an expansion adding more diversity to the game and new layers to consider.

Added to the deck are both Dogs and Cats, and these little beings have mischief of their own to consider. Regardless of a dog's loyalty, they do need to be stimulated and not left alone. Cats do lack that loyalty, and they will be hovering around other players in the search of their own selfish needs. Adding this expansion deck, players will now have the challenge to collect both dogs and cats for additional points to achieve victory. So keep an eye on those players who are hiding the dogs and kitties.

Be warned, each pet does have a name and a condition so you'll be on a first-name basis in no time with these cuties.

Fort: Cats & Dogs Expansion is available to be pre-ordered today online on the Leder Games website, ready for release and fulfilment this October. So if you are looking to add some new depth and disaster to your game of Fort, be sure to check out the animal-loving expansion.

In your opinion, what is a necessary object to have in a Fort?
