Fans of the calming and soothing board game Tranquility will be delighted to hear of the sequel coming later this year. Promising a new environment, switching the sea out for a mountain climbing experience. You can share in board-game serenity in a new setting - only to be played in soothing silence with the upcoming title Tranquility: The Ascent.

Tranquility: The Ascent // Board Game Hub

The upcoming sequel to the successful game franchise Tranquillity will not need the base game to play. As it is standalone, the game mechanics will ultimately stay the same however the game's purpose and location differs.

Players will be tasked with the trials of ascending a mountain. Starting from the base and continuously making the way up as a cooperative team. This team is going to find communication rather tricky, as the game is designed for players to work in tranquil silence as they lay their cards on the tabletop.

Tranquility: The Ascent // Board Game Hub

Alike the first game, players will need to complete a grid of cards without running out of cards to achieve in the game. However, instead of guiding your ship home, in The Ascent, players will aspire to reach the top of the mountain.

As the communication is lacking, you will need to make sure you are making the best decision for your teammates whilst anticipating what your allies plan on doing in their next move.

As soon as players reach the top of the mountain and place a summit card, the team will win. However, if a player cannot use an action on their turn, everybody loses. You will all need to work out the best scenarios for your own survival - but doing so without communicating.

The game is set to include three new mini-expansions too which can be played as one massive cluster of expansions to the game, or played individually to ease you in. Providing all very different outcomes to achieve, such as photography, tactical pathing and green, green, grass.

There is no release date just yet for the sequel, however, there are promises that the release will be this year. Watch out for a Kickstarter coming 28th June!

Does anybody feel like a Charades-Tranquility combination game would be amusing?
