Cranio Creations are going back to 16th Century Prague and exploring the legend of the Golem with their new board game which is slated for release later this year.

Golem - Cranio Creations

The game has been designed by Simone Luciani, Virginio Gigli and Flaminia Brasini and the cover itself has already caught my eye. When it comes to the game the premise is that you'll be playing the role of kaballists who are creating these ancient and powerful magical creatures to protect your people in the city of Prague. You will need to create the perfect golem because if you're not too careful and they become too powerful they will destroy everything in their way!

A few different actions then, of course, come into play...

  • Work: By paying mana, activate the Golem placed in the city of Prague and get bonuses.
  • Golem: Obtain clay to create new golems or grow yours.
  • Artefact: Obtain coins and buy gold to build artefacts that offer permanent bonuses in the game.
  • Spells: Obtain mana and perform spells, with scoring for spell set collection.
  • Mirror: Perform one action of your choice by paying one coin.

...and all of this is done using marbles placed around a 3D  synagogue that sits in the centre of your gaming space. You will have to make sure that you balance what you're doing in the creation of your golem alongside the development of your master too. If you aren't careful then you might lose control of its actions. Making sure that you also collect the right colour combination of marbles also means that you could gain the favour of some powerful figures in the shadows and get you extra bonuses.

The game sounds like it could be very fascinating and if the gameplay mechanics (in practice) end up being as cool looking as the art then we should be in for a bit of fun!

Will you be keeping an eye on this one?
