Was Az confusing philia and phobia?
Yea absolutely was, great spot. Az
What you get up to in that regard during hurricanes in private situations is your own business and should never be discussed on the show!!
Happy Sunday, Xtra Lovely Baby Stormborn!!! 😀 😀 😀
I haven’t even got to watching this XLBS, but please, never do that again to Az, to us, to the Lord and Saviour baby Jebus – er,,, Stormborn. 😀 😛
What you talking about? That’s my son you cheeky begggar 😛 Az
My goodness! He certainly has inherited your – er – qualities. My apologies as I thought I was seeing a Warzan/Azrael lovechild. …which now I think about it might be the most awesome thing ever for the future gaming industry and a most terrifying friend for a wee Justin Junior!
Happy Sunday!!
That picture is so disturbing I almost didn’t click through. Winding up for Halloween?
Why do these Wizkid games have to be so heavy? How about some light games. A dice game researchingnew weapons by rolling dice to match requirements on project cards, “who”s the heretic?” Card game etc.
They do have Dice masters, which is lite and fun to play.
To have an aggressive early release of some games appearing early 2018 I suspect Wizkids do have a couple of systems in the pipeline that could be reskinned later in design to use the IP rather than reskinning an existing system.
Justin – GW Speciality Games produced Inquisitor that dealt with their warbands fighting it out over a tabletop. Miniatures were I think 54 mm.
FFG did produce a 40K boardgame with minis Forbidden Stars.
I would think that GW would want a 40K Dice Master series to help with recruiting US players.
Much earlier they produced a WF boardgame with minis called Chaos in the Old World, though both those games were very much in the board game territory for their minis (and not minis board game either but like Rebellion or TI).
Forbidden stars were Tokens IMHO to be classified as a miniature it needs to be something made to scale and basically within scale of it’s other components.
These days (and for a long while) GW (quite rightly IMHO) do not give license to craft minis that are directly compatible with their own games.
But who know what the future will hold!
Could they be allowed to compete head on with a Forbidden Stars replacement?
Aeronautica Imperialis made use of the Epic models and was published by Forgeworld in 2007. We might assume that GW have little desire in making that size miniature; then the door opens to both Epic and Aeronautica games as an available license.New plastic suitable playing pieces could be permitted.
Isn’t Titanicus appearing next year? . I think they mentioned 8mm at the time and not 6mm
Happy Sunday all,
Looking forward to seeing you guys in a few hours at the 40k open day!
Big Congratulations to Warren and the family!
That is a really creepy photo. Happy Sonday.
Happy Sunday!! Most disturbing title card for a while! 😀
@thisisazrael Collin says Hello! ^^
Collin says Hello! ^^
Haha gotta stay on the good side of your editor…. Az
Impressive. I tried pausing it at the right spot myself and failed.
Love you Az <3 - Colin
Morning all thanks again for the lovely messages folks really appreciated! (Myself and Andrea were chuckling at how it feels like we have a gigantic family – even though both of ours are quite small) lol 🙂
Oh yeah, Happy Birthday to this awesome future gamer. Congratulations to Andrea and you.
Happy Sunday everyone (who was hardy enough to get past that beautiful picture :P)! Az
Looks like the new critter in starwars mate 😉
I have done Tough Mudder but I won’t be repeating it. I prefer Soft Cleaner these days!
Fair play to you @darkdanegan! Have a ton of respect to anyone who takes on that challenge. Az
@thisisazrael if you looking into modern I would start with spectre as Skirmish Sangin is more for your platoon level (8+ men) also from my playthrough of it a lot of maths. Spectre is fast paced with depth and gets you shooting quickly :-).
I would check out the Facebook page for spectre https://www.facebook.com/groups/spectreopwargame/ and the community is amazing.
Thank you kindly sir (also for your awesome message <3).
After Essen I am going to make a concerted effort to make this happen and will report back / come query with you.
Az
Don`t forget osprey black ops rules too
All in on L5R. Love it.
Just like Thrones you can’t make a tournament legal deck from one L5R core set. Instead you play with smaller decks. You can make two full tournament legal decks from three cores, though. It is just one clan you can splash into your conflict deck. The full L5R beta rulebook (it’s a beast) is available for download.
Come on Ben, it was not the sahara sand that made the sun shine red, but the ashes of the fires in Portugal!
That Thumbnail reminds me of a ‘Garbage pail kids’ sticker.
I dunno what you mean…..
Az
Congratulations to @warzan, Andrea and new baby Jack. My 1st born is also called Jack, so Great name choice! Glad to hear Mum and Baby (and Dad) are all doing well. Look forward to hearing all about it on a future weekender.
40K Dice Masters seems a no brainer. The IPs are freely mixed by the competitive players so making it different would hurt sales.
I can’t conceive of anything worse than that idea (40K the dice game) so it is bound to be what they do.
Never fear Justin and team! Wayland and I will hook you up with the Mountain Dew and the 1st Infantry Division patch from here on our Army base here in Germany.
We are coming to Essen Spiel on Friday and will track you guys ( @thisisazrael and Ben/sexy furious and Justin ) down for the delivery!
If you have and idea on where you might be on Friday drop me a line.
They sell Mountain Dew in Castle Court in Belfast in that American sweet shop. Not sure if it’s the same stuff you can buy in America though
I think in America they sell Mountain Doo….
I was reading that Mountain Dew energy drinks are banned in Europe as one of the chemicals in it (brominated oil) is also used for making carpets flame retardant
The only Mountain Dew I’ve seen available here in NI actually comes from Indonesia or Singapore. The “real” stuff from the states does indeed contain chemicals that don’t pass EU food safety standards. I enjoy the taste of danger. – Colin
The stuff we have on the base here is the real stuff!
@justin — After coming back from Essen Spiel you must compare and contrast it to GenCon. IMHO, the feel and format of those two cons are very different and it would be a an interesting discussion.
As far as WizKids. I will keep an open mind but my experience with their customer service has been awful and I don’t look forward to purchasing games from them. Also, the quality of their miniatures IHMO are not very good. I do not believe they have a very good track record of taking existing IPs and making them better or advancing them. The deal is done, so it is what it is, but I am skeptical as to the quality of the product they will bring to the market.
It terms of things I would love to see come back:
– Space Hulk: Death Angel and all the expansions — speaking of games without miniatures.
– I know not 40K, but bring back Fury of Dracula BUT streamline the rule book — not sure how well they can do that.
It’s nuclear, not nukular.
@warzan i think you need to give Andrea a stern talking too that XLBS title card looks disturbingly like AZ has been naughty boy lol i give him ten out of ten though for making it disturbing, joking aside congratulations mate the real mccoy looks a little belter (must take after his mum)
Cor that thumbnail. Don’t have nightmares!
Happy Sunday guys.
Love the Volcano idea, so many options but I thought it might be good to do a Thunderbirds game. You could buy some cheap prepainted models at a scale that works and tie it to a scenario.
Happy sunday (and a great 40k for you guys)!
Wizkids and GW, it will be interesting to see what comes out. Hope they do 4X games for both 40K and AoS. Don’t know much about the specifics of AoS but, they could do an AoS boardgame about the Realms war? Maybe something about worker placement trying to control as many realms as possible or something along that…
Anyway, it’s all speculations at the moment (still a fun thing trying to figure it all out 😉 ).
Great show guys. @warzan, congrats to your family. Another gamer cometh!!!!! @thisisazrael baby picture will be haunting me all day, thanks!!!!!!
@brennon Ha, I said “Very very frightnings!” too, lol!
Love the Oathmark dwarves, looking forward to seeing more about the game.
CONGARATS to @warzan and family on the new addition.
How about a card dice ckick gome of inquisators fighting heratics and cults in the underhive?
Any thoughts that the Wizkids/GW business plan may be based on Wizkids concentrating on game design, paper/cardboard elements and GW produce the plastics? Could this partnership be more than just IP? The 40K airplane game war Aeronotica, which was somewhere in the 1/144 scale. 40K aircraft on clicks bases would be cool.
@brennon Love how you refer to Metal King Studio, the one man show Sean Sutter, as these guys! The Kickstarter have done amazingly thouhg, so happy for Sean. It’s one of my def favorites!
The Aeronautica and BFG remakes would be fantastic ideas but I bet GW are holding on to those for themselves. Based on the success of re-done Specialist Games thus far you can’t really blame them.
I think Justin may be thinking of ‘Bommerz’ game released by Games Workshop featuring ‘Epic’ scale Ork Bommerz doing a 633 Squadron attack whilst under fire from flak guns and Thunderbolt fighters. I have a copy somewhere in the ‘Loft of many things’
a great show guys I bet @warzan will be after the haunt the house game for the kids.
Dwarf Power,,,stepping up for the Brothers! Go Ben!!
Wizkids is not that kind of company, they are the license and re-skin kind of company(nothing wrong with that) They occasionally do their own thing but their not going to take a chance with a IP like 40k at least at first, they are going to take their tried and true designs and re-skin them for 40k, thats what they do. They got Relic and Fury and Fury of Dracula is a popular game it will sell. Relic is more a Talisman in 40k, and is less so but still popular. Those I bet are what Wizkids were after and also the rights to do Dice Masters 40k. Dice masters is very popular and I think GW wants to use these kind of games to introduce more players to the world so its a win win. I could also see them do some sort of card game like the Pathfinder adventure card game, Arkham Horror card game or FFGs Warhmmer Quest adventure card game.
On minis Fantasy Flight made a 40k game called Forbidden Stars. Its basically a Dudes on map type galactic war game, like a 2x game, Expand and Exterminate. It had Chaos, ORks, Marines and Eldar and they had different models for each factions Tanks, Ships and Titans, some of the models are really close in size to Epic and Battlefleet models. Great game, tho unfortunately it never got the expansions the FFG probably had planned.
GW ought to use Wizkids to do a pre-paint successor to epic/adeptus titanicus
GW/Wizkids man’o’war would be nice too.
Ima just say, ya’ll need some Relicblade in your life. I can see how it’s easy to look at in the current space and feel like you ‘don’t need another’ – But.. none of them are like it!
A real gem, and a perfect intro game to get non-gamers into the hobby. Great show as always!
What he said.
Great show, guys. I just pledged for Haunt the House. My gaming Padawan…I mean daughter…will enjoy playing this, I’m sure.
yay! a new wee beastie added to the crew 😀
ps: hello colin! lol
Sorry, Az, but the baby “picture” is downright creepy.
haha – I know exactly what Justin’s talking about in regards to Az’s game face! The first few games of Netrunner when I was still learning the game, Az was a total gent and took it very easy on me and eased me into the game – once he thought I knew what I was doing – he totally destroyed me!! 😀
Hahah! Love you Az! 🙂
I just love you guys <3 Thanks again for a great great show. Lots of laughs, lots of cool new knowledge. Lots of ideas. Thanks 🙂
and congrats again @warzan family 🙂
It’s only taken 6 days and 4000 miles, but I finally got to finish Sundays XLBS. Started at home in England and finally finished watching on the West coast of America. Not the longest its taken me, but sure is the furtherst traveled for me……..On holiday in a very nice town called Lacey, its just down the road from MT St Helens.
Loving the Ninjas, thinking of other games they can be used in.
Lots of good non mainstream (for 40k) game ideas!
