Team Yankee Boot Camp Terrain Chat
Lloyd, John and Warren get chatting about some of the terrain that they have been working on for the Boot Camp. We'll be talking urban buildings, industrial terrain and of course...
...flags!
Everyone Tucks Into Food Before The Pub!
Everyone is hungry and will be tucking into some hot dogs and chips! I would say this is a very appropriate American meal to get stuck into for tomorrow...
...so what kind of grub 'should' we have for the Soviets tomorrow?

Looks great! Loving the terrain.
I really like the M577 objective marker.
Yes! “Team Yankee Boot Camp Terrain Chat” gave some good ideas to work from. Keep it up, guys!
So, Ben is a live person with a normal sized skull? Not just a huge talking head?
You guys should have made up a map of the Defense of River House with the Soviets rolling across that bridge in the intro background bent on bringing Russian games to the decadent Western gamers.
Really looking forward to viewing this through the fish bowl that is the internet… Have been tempted with FoW but this I think maybe a must buy… Safe journey to those who are still travelling. Have a fab day folks :o)
looking forward to those helicopter unboxings but i feel the Russians will win many campaigns if no the war
This looks like a great and fun, “what if” military mini game. Would love to get in this one.
Awesome!!
Really looking forward to this weekends videos… really want to know more if I`m going to get into my first 15mm game…. Nice to hear about the rulebook flix though too… keep rocking
Holy sh1t lads! This one is looking absolutely legendary.
Looks like the BoW Crew is at full strength and boy have you got some big hitters coming over for this one. Really p1ssed off I couldn’t make this one and green with envy of the folks who did.
One suggestion. As Lloyd is the President and dictator for Life of the country (well ok, technically of that part of River House), I suggest you show him the proper respect. He has to dress in a Russian Marshals uniform, including landing pad hat and an assortment of medals. Every time he walks into the room people must stop what they’re doing, stand to attention and sing the Lloydislavic national anthem. Any disputes or differences of opinion throughout the weekend are settled by LLoyd – his decision is final and anyone who disagrees or contradicts him will be banished from River House for life. I also think John should accompany Lloyd wherever he goes, glares menacingly at anyone in the vicinity and if people don’t show Lloyd the proper respect, John will knock them to the ground and threaten them with actual bodily harm. A great way to enhance the gaming experience in my opinion!
lol!
And is it just me or does Justin look more like Biggles in that hat than an actual Russian tank commander from the Cold War era? Tally Ho old boy!
tbh he looks a bit like Lenin..
is it me our does justin look like odd ball from kellys heros
Odd Ball is spot on
“I mean like so many positive waves maybe we can’t lose!”
Just need Justin to do some dog impressions..
yup.
Definitely! Now I’m never going to not see him as the character. XD
Wonder how long it will be before they add other nations to this game?
The Periscope seems to work fine, ju gotta learn how it works 😛
Those Huey sprues look awesome but I´m more of a hind guy myself. Pls ask whats next for team yankee, more US/USSR or more nation – holding me thumbs for Swedish forces ^^
Comrad Justin looks like OddBall from Kelly’s Heroes. Lol.
Good luck for the weekend and the tables look fantastic.
Woof woof
That’s a serious set up guys. Great to see the hard work pay off, enjoy the weekend.
Bring on the carnage.
Looking forward to this guys.
Looking forward to all of the coverage this weekend.
I do wonder how the Soviet players will handle the relatively monotonous army composition they’ll be having; some infantry to drop out of those Hinds would make things really interesting, for instance.
This is going to be epic 🙂
I saw the weekend special and went WHAAAT?
This is great guys!
Been following the coming Team Yankee release at ‘Breakthrough assault’ blog for weeks now. Really hyped about this modern setting and simplefied ruled.
Imagine the sadness when the release crept to the end of 2015, now 2 weeks delay because of production setbacks.
Ah well, we all want our oys yesterday. Like Beasts of war apparently 🙂 has.
But for now I’ll enjoy you sharing all things Team Yankee. Thank guys for doing this.
Team Yankee, yeah!
I am so exited! I have alredy started to stat out some swedish forces for ww3. Dammit be the 12th of december already I have saved my christmas money fot this 😀
Another great Bootcamp… damn, why am I living in germany…
It is only a flight away
Really excited about this! I’m looking forward to interjecting as many Schwarzenegger and Stallone (amongst others) quotes into all my games. My opponents are gonna love me.
GET TO THE CHOPPA
Looking forward to this
I hope the game is as good as flames of war ww2, and I hope can get it XD
I take it if the game goes nuclear, you’re just going to flip the table ala Monopoly style
The next song for the playlist has to be Europe’s, The Final Countdown.
Loving the game and this might be the one to get me into modern combat. I will have to wait till the Brits come out of course with loads of Challenger 1’s and scorpion AFV’s on the board
enjoy the bootcamp everyone!
Obviously the most appropiate music ‘d be : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snnFrwzTDJs
Hopefully there will be some Brad at some point. :>
Wish I was there guys… so sad to be stuck at work with all that going on!
Those Lloydoslavia flags look brilliant.
A song suggestion for Justin: “Walking on a thin line” by Huey Lewis and the News…
I was just going to comment that the flags look fantastic and wouldn’t it be great if the PDFs were available for backstagers to download! I’d love to invade Lloydoslavia with my Abrams and M113’s.
Really dig the Lloydoslavian flaaaaaaag ! Have a great boot camp.
the figures and tank look really good and youve did a cracking job on the tables.
go go America
Justin “woof woof” thats my other dog impression
Looking forward to seeing how this plays, maybe convince a few locals to jump on board
Enjoy the weekend guys! 😀
looks great hoping it plays like FOW as I love the system also hoping that they expand the range to include European forces so I can build me a west German Army
AC/DC Thunderstruck.
It’s looking like a blast. Really wish I could come out to one of these things someday!
‘Murrica!!!
The Warthog looks gigantic 😎
And never underestimate the mech infantry..they have T-72s for breakfast 😉
Can’t wait for the unboxing, hurry up guys!
Looks like a good game from what iv seen so far, looking forward to seeing more about it
Interesting that it doesn’t appear just to be a flames of war re-skin, and as I was not keen the the FoW rules, more interested now (didn’t think the other re-skins worked that well either).
And 15mm plastic vehicles, my near future/low tech Sci-Fi forces rejoice in this.
I’m already planning on doing Russians, if only for the hinds. Although if they get T-80s that will just sweeten the pot.
That Lloydislavia banner is amazing! And Iron Maiden should be played all day, every day!
For music – Gary Moore : Out in the Fields
Rushkies for the win, got to love those hinds
a must have for me ……now what will i have to buy the missus to keep her happy 🙂
I want me some Hinds! – Awesome – Stuff – I wasn’t going to get into this, but now you have me, again!… Ahhh…
You had me at “Shit, are those Hinds!”
I’ve got to admit, when I saw the prices and number of models you get in the sets, feeling a little disheartened I decided to pass on Team Yankee… However, now I’ve seen the size of the ‘minis’, particularly the Hind and Cobra, the prices do seem a little more reasonable.
The weapon that you’re unsure about in the M113 unboxing is, I believe, the flamethrower for the M132 ‘Zippo’ variant.
Thanks, @stratoq . That one really had us stumped. I was about to utter some nonsense about communications antennae on some kind of command variant. 🙂
Those helicopter models look so awesome!
Holding my thumbs for the invaders 🙂
Another one I’ve had to miss.
One day I’ll get over there.
Good Luck to all and may the force be with you .
Sorry wrong game
Really liking the look of Team Yankee, never really that interested in FoW. But I like whats being brought out with this set.
Hopefully in the future we might see rules for West Germany bringing in the leopard 1 & 2 and UK chieftain tanks. It looks like it’ll be a great chance to bring in a number of things which have been overlooked in war-gaming. With it either being WW1-2 or Sci-fi getting the chance to experiment around with the idea of a cold war gone hot.
Between the weekends choice of US or USSR, I’m leaning leaning more towards the US. While the thought of running round with 6 hind’s sound great. I’m more drawn to the US stuff.
Those models look amazing! Plus they are not that badly priced.
This game looks excellent. The plastics are fantastic, but then I’ve been impressed more and more by Battlefronts plastic kits. The open fire boxed set was amazing so I have high hopes for this.
one for the Soviet side :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Glu9wA4HjE0
Looks like it’s going to be a cracking weekend enjoy all
Apeman, no such issues here Victoria, plays paints and scratch builds, so for me the answer to what would I need to get her to keep her happy, easy more Team Yankee of course. Oh how lucky am I peeps!!!!! LOL 🙂
Warzan and the rest of you peeps have really really turned it all the way up to 11 with this one. Love the idea of the music pick’s as well.
Hope, well no we don’t need to hope chaps and chappess’s you will all have an absolute and total blast of a weekend mates. Take care of all and we hope any still traveling arrive safe.
First time I ever saw the Hind up close was a pretty sobering moment in history.
First time I saw an A10 up close and personal was a complete game changer, mean, silent and eater of armour and vaporiser of of anything softer than a tank, full stop. Give me a taxi rank full of those whispering death chainsaw noise makers any and every day of the week. Talk about danger close went from being that adrenalin was brown to the actual close and safe support weapon of choice, I give you, the A 10.
I hope BF handles Team Yankee better then they did Dust. A war during this time would have been interesting.
Those hinds look really sweet .
This really took me by surprise! Great coverage! If i wasn’t deployed at the moment I would have jumped on this boot camp in a heart beat. Can’t wait to hear what John Paul has to say about future releases!
Those huge soviet choppers are really going to be a HINDrance!
Sorry guys, I’ tired and I’m envious…
D’oh!
I guess me buying over 40 Zvezda T-72’s on discount last year is finally going to pay off 🙂
Comrade Justin my ass – that’s Oddball from “Kelly’s Heroes”.
Evidence – http://www.themoviescene.co.uk/reviews/kellys-heroes/kellys-heroes.html
This looks great guys! I’m always impressed with your boot camps! Il watch all the videos when I get home from work!
I totally go with the Americans. The A-10 is my favorite plane of all time. So thats definitely a no-brainer…
Looks like a sweet game!
I’ve done reading novel. Now ready to play Americans.
Congratulations BOW team on what look like another awesome boot camp. Battlefront have picked a terrific period which really has no end point I can see. I would be interested to see what house rules you might come up with? For example I love Bolt Action hand in the bag which could be great in FOW.? Anyway enjoy the weekend… I know I will.
having read the book will they bring out a model of the mtu55 Bridge layer
Looking forward to all the posts, looks like it is going to be great. I have got really hooked on Flames of War thanks to Team Yankee, I had been avoiding it because I’m not keen on 15mm war gaming, however this might change that. Liking the look of those Americans however the hinds look like they could cause great carnage. Hope in the future more factions are released, certainly the British, would love to gets some late chieftains and challenger 1’s on the table.
Ugh, why does airfare to Belfast have to be so high? Would love to be there.
Looks like you guys have an awesome time. Wish I had the means to start another era though :(, curse you Battlefront with your awesome releases!!! 😛
This is looking awesome, can’t wait to get my hands on some of this! A-10 for the win!
I know I say this every Bootcamp, but wish I was there lol
Looking good boys and girls! Have fun!
Looking forward to seeing how this weekend goes, very interested in Team Yankee
I carnt wait to get my hands on it
This looks great, looking forward to watching this weekend 🙂
Comrade Justin looks like Oddball in Kelly’s Heroes. I thought this was WWIII not World War Two. I love the look of this game. The use of helicopter and tanks along with anti air makes this truly a unique game. This will be a great weekend for you all!
This looks amazing only ever played 28mm games and I really fancy this as a move into another scale!
for those epic moments when the yanks kick arse its got to be ACDC thunderstruck, it worked fighting aliens so for ruskies no problem….
on a side note ive been on the john paul jones from battleship movie whilst serving in the gulf. im the irritating person you can hear when the movies on saying “been on that” every scene its in lol i nearly got killed by she who must be obeyed tried to watch it with me.
will have to scan some photos of the Russian ships we spied on at anchor every other day their bloody impressive
oh and please get the file for the flags up for backstagers just loving the lloydislavia ones doesnt he look a cheerful leader
Quite an action packed segment there.
Good luck for the Team Yankee event. The boards are the best I have seen for this period. Can you ask Battlefront when we expect to see vehicles and figures for the NATO allies and Warsaw Pact countries?
This looks amazong 🙂
Hope I win I am dying to get these units
Nuclear Assault on BoW. What a world we live in! 😀
Right, @somegeezer ? I thought I was the only person left who still listened to these guys once in a while. How wrong I was. Actually makes me feel young again.
The Lynx in a lowly joint third
Does no one realize that it is one of he best if not the best combat chopper of its time. It was tough, strong, high endurance, could have a mast sight, was the first combat chopper to be able to do a controlled and manageable 360′ loop as a tactical manoeuvre , carry at least same amount of arms as a an Apache, but also 8 troops , or extra rounds and fuel to increase operational range and time, as well as increased kill potential.
Looking forward to this coverage, and looking forward to Team Yankee 😀
Can’t wait for this
Looks like its going to be a great boot camp. Love the banners with Lloyd on them, lol.
The gamers in the local area have been getting stoked for Team Yankee. Having been in the service in Fulda at the time I was reticent but now I think it could be a lot of fun. Wonder how long a drive it is from Utah to BoW HQ? Let me break out the fording kits….
Guys, would love to have come along but have a Flames of War tournament this weekend in Belfast. Hoping to see good feedback from the folks going. The pictures look great so far.
Loving the coverage so far. Great job!
Not going to lie, Flames of War isn’t a game I’ve ever been interested in. Might have to check out Team Yankee after following this.
@smithsco – I was . . . and am . . . in the exact same boat. 🙂
The models are really looking nice
I really want to know if they are going to expand beyond the Yanks and the Russians to include perhaps the Brits, French, West Germans etc.
Might as well see what all this fuss is about.
I’m already waiting for WW3 to begin! 🙂
This might be the game that gets me into the Battlefront fold.
This is a cool idea for the game. I’m excited to watch over the weekend and see how much I like it.
Perhaps you could look at some Jerry goldsmith scores from Rambo 3 for the soundtracks?
team yankee looks good. Yet another game to empty my wallet of money. am enjoying the music selection as well!
Looks like the start of an amazing weekend of fun. Enjoy one and all.
Cheers!
Awesome terrain, looking forward to game play
The more I see of Team Yankee, the more I like it. Was leaning towards Force on Force for a foray into modern combat, but this has me thinking now…
Lordy Warren is looking fancy in that suit jacket. Seriously sad to miss this one hope all enjoy the weekend!
Great stuff, I think I’m going to have to borrow my brothers FoW forces for a game and think about getting this
Tables look brilliant guys, very jealous of all the boot campers especially Greg from the DWARF club. Looking forward to catching what I can online over ge weekend.
One question for you. Any plans to make pdf’s of the paper terrain available to backstagers?
Cheers
Unfortunately I’ve been told that here in Australia we’ll have to wait another month to get stuck into this game
Gosh darn it!What to buy WW2 US or WW3 US?
Looking great. Wish i could be there.
Team Yankee looks just fantastic! cant wait to get my hands on the americans… or maybe the russians. Cant really decide. As I am by far the most “dedicated” (most willing to spend all my money on miniatures) in my gaming group I probably need to get both sides and trick the others into playing. Anyone else have this problem?
Looking forward to following the blog throughout the weekend, keep up the good work guys, and enjoy a good weekends gaming.
Looks like it’s going to be another great boot camp to follow.
Looks great at BoW towers, loved the book will be interested to see how this plays
I really wanted to get to this bootcamp. It looks like it will be amazing. Damn bank account. Have a good time guys and looking forward to the content.
Loving the tables, well done guy`s.
After watching the un-boxing, i`m not sure which faction i would pick as there all great model`s.
Happy gaming guy`s, and above all else “Kick some Yankee Butt”……………..
Really looking good, tis a shame i missed out on the tickets 🙁 hopefully you guys run another that ill be able to come too.
How about Sabaton – Panzer Battalion for the sound track. Slightly wrong era but still a dam good song!
I was wondering what all the fuss was about regarding the Hinds. Just watched the video.Oh my word!
Team Yankee is looking good, but I’m wanting British armour to help me save the eastern provinces of Europe from communism, by returning them to their rightful place within the Empire. 🙂
Anyone knows if there’s any plan for future armies or it’ll always be a 2 faction game?
Looking good, want it now can’t wait.
Can’t wait to get all these shiny new toys in my own hands…
Wish you a great time, guys!
When they do the M60 all will be right with the world.
The anticipation is killing me.
Looking at those helicopters all that was going through my mind was fortunate son by creedence clearwater revival.
I’ve never been really interested in “current warfare” games, but this one looks very tempting.
By the way, that Hind copter looks cool, but it’s really big.
Sgt. oddball spot on. No negative vibes with team Yankee.
Looking forward to this and the future. Hopefully they will expand to include German Marder, Leopard and Geppard.
Now to find people to play this with
Where are the videos for the Russian tanks? I guess you have to save some to Saturday (Grumble Grumble) I like all the period music you guys have put in. I do hope it is something you will try to keep doing. Some games it just might not work for.
I was actually thinking the same thing, @spacewolflord – but the T-72s we had for the event were NOT the same kits that will be coming out for release. There was a small issue with the plastic T-72s, which delayed the release a little. We had resin kits that were provided as a stop gap so the Team Yankee Boot Camp would not be affected. So if we did an “unboxing episode” on the resin kits, it wouldn’t feature the correct kits that customers will actually receive.
I’m so jealous of this weekend. Wish I was there. Between being back home and playing tabletop it would’ve been the best trip ever. Thanks for the content though guys 🙂
Really did have to vote for the Lynx, so much fun to fly. Not much cop in this game at the moment though….
Maybe that’s because it’s not in it yet ?
Was meaning up against armour….unless it gets a decent TOW fit
The terrain is amazing, really liking the models especially the tanks love them. Looking forward to the next few days.
Love the terrain, happy gaming weekend to everyone!
I hope they expand this even further
That Hind is a beast… no pun intended. It’s hard to visualize it’s size until you see it next to the Cobra but what a machine!
When it really looks awesome is when you build SIX of them and line them up on the tables. They seriously overshadow everything!
Awesome way to kick this expansion off!
Hope this is as successful as Flames of War.
Really looking forward to this game coming out, only another 2 weeks
This looks so cool, having played boardgames of this (World at War) this is so much cooler with minis
Couple of tracks for you think about, both by stiff little fingers 1) Tin Soldier, 2) Barbed wire love
I can’t wait to represent the YANKEES!
Hello you wonderful glories bustards, That goes’ for you Pinko Commie Buggers from the East, And you Crazy Wild Mad Dogs from the West. After a hell of a day at work ( God I hate Black Friday) The show was awesome can’t weight till tomorrow. Love the minis it looks like there not as small as I thought they were, nice size . Guys and Gals please have fun tomorrow and record it all . thank you love it. 🙂 P.S. was that 99 red balloons playing in the back ground loved that song and Blue Oster cult physic wars ah hell any song from Heavy Metal the movie. Good night folks have fun at the bar tonight see you in the morning. 🙂 Pepsidan
love the terrain, especially the banners- they really pop!
Really wish I could see this person. Looks like a great time. Great job with the coverage.
Can’t wait for these to come out. A couple of other FOW players and II have been waiting for a long time for this particular period of models. I am planning on collecting a force of US and USSR myself. Of course my favorite will be the US, as I lived this period (US Army 1985-2003) and my first post after training was Germany (back when it was West vs East). I remember pulling guard duty on the border when the Cav guys needed a break. One thing they haven’t commented on yet is the special weapons available at the time. I was a 13F and in 1985 we had GVLLDs (lasers used to bring in smart munitions like Copperhead). I hope they get to those in the future.
I’m looking forward to seeing some game play.
looks cool.
you know, if i wasn’t in the states, i would definitely try to attend all of these boot camps
It’s definitely a long haul, @wizardv12222 , and quite a hassle. I’m not saying I’m going to all of them, but even living in Ft. Lauderdale, I’m definitely going to at least one more of these in the future, depending on the “subject matter.”
When it comes to WW2 I prefer 28mm. But WW3 would be a whole diffrent set of tactics. Infantry squads while still important are more support for armored cav. So 15mm is more ,IMHO , the way to go. Looking forward to TY!
Вперед, к славе России-матушки
Cлава Родину !!
Looks like a load of fun! Wish I could attend one of these events. Just the nights out would make it worthwhile!
Oh, where did the M577 come from? I want one!
I think it’s an objective marker, not an actual unit.
This game has really caught my attention. I love the idea of playing Cold War gone hot at FoW’s tactical level. Bring on the companies of Mechanized Infantry and Abrams!
ZOMG…..Justin looks just like Oddball.
Hahaha! Spot on!
Looking good! That swarm of cobras up there looks tough! 🙂
My first live blog with BoW and wow does everything look amazing. Makes me wish I ponied up for a set of airline tickets and some time off. For me it doesn’t get better than cold war and I can’t wait to watch tomorrow’s gameplay streams. (And actually as its 12:30am here and I’m in the US I think its already tomorrow morning there….)
Send up the balloon!
I am so excited for this!
This makes me so envious. I preorderedd the rulebook and it was supposed to be released today. Now, I have to play by proxy right now. Can’t wait to get some games in even though I will have to proxy with my WWII stuff at the beginning.
Couldn’t find an edit button. I meant to say I would be playing the game vicariously by watching others play it. But when my rulebook does arrive I will use my FoW WWII models as proxies for learning the game until I get the proper models.
Looks like fun I love those M113’s
so how about a civil war army ” Team Rebel “
Seriously jealous, can’t wait for my copy
This looks to be a lot of fun. America, **** Yeah!
This may end up being more life than game soon. Looks great.
The game does look great. And I havebeen looking for a good wwiii ruleset. But will other factions such as west germans and polish be represented?
really looking forward to getting my mitts on this game. Just 2 more weeks to go!
The waiting for TY to finaly release is just endless
Wow another boot camp, this weekend i’m going to have a lot information ^^
Great looking miniatures.
Oh how I wish to be there with you guys. Anyway I preordered the soviet starter kit to make up for it.
I’ve always loved the Cold War gone hot scenarios and would love to see a good rule set to match the ideas in my head. And having read Team Yankee multiple times throughout the years it’s almost a dream come true to see it turned into a miniatures wargame. Really hope to eventually see them produce an M60A2 model.
waiting for rule book to arrive been playing war game for a long long time my age is 61 this year ,thought this looks great ,give it a try about 8 of us wanting to play this ,some are have trouble with the cost of stuff IE the young guys at the club I play we have a 16 year old and 3 14 year old and the old guy me,models look great
C’mon guys, up and at it!
Or did you enjoy the pub a wee bit too much last night? 😉
Awesome event, guys! One day I´ll come over to take part in one of your events – nat matter what system. Looks so much fun!
Any plans for bootcamps in 2016?
Oh, by the way: Two minuts to midnight seeams like the perfect pick according to time and situation.
Just catching up on yesterdays events, looks great. I hope everyone has an amazing weekend.
Have a great time, y’all 🙂 These boot camps look great .. i need to get over to one soon!
looks great , can not Waite to get my own to start .hope the game plays really well.
Getting to a bootcamp is on my bucket list …… 🙂
It’s nearly 10am and no update yet…have u been in the pub for longer than expected 😉
looking good there
I was a M1 Abrams tank driver so I want to fill in some details about my baby. The smaller MG on the Loaders hatch is a M240B 7.62mm mounted on a skate ring and was originaly meant to engage enemy Helocopters. The skate ring mount allows for quick movements of the weapon to bring it to bear on target. The Tank Commander’s weapon is of course the M2 50.cal heavy barrel MG. The 50. Cal’s mount doesn’t have the arc of fire that the Loaders MG has but it was intended to engage lightly armored vehicles where the Main gun which was a 105mm rifled on the M1 and a 120mm smooth bore on the M1A1 would be too much. The biggest concern was that we would run out of main gun rounds before the Soviets ran out of Tanks. An experienced Loader could reload the main gun in less than 6 seconds and thanks to the firing computer we could hit any target we could see even while on the move. Another interesting fact is that compared to the M113 and M2 Bradley, the Abrams is actually quieter on the move.. The last thing I want to mention is the Bussel racks on the sides of the turret, this is where the tank crew would store their personal gear (sleeping bag, spare Uniforms, Combat helmets, and personnel weapons) as the inside of the tank didn’t have the room. One of the first things most of us did when we were issued our tanks was to jurry rig a Bussel rack extension so we could store extra MREs, Water and other items. We would also mount a couple of spare track links to the sides and rears of the rack. We NEVER had anything on the top of the Hull because it would interfere with the traversing of the turret. Some Crews would mount their Tow bars for tank recovery on the front mounts of the hull in front of the Drivers station. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share some facts and maybe give some modeling tips. The first thing I’m doing when I get my tanks is painting up an M1A1 the same as the tank I drove. Maybe I’ll get lucky and get the starter sets so I can drag my local tanker friend into the game.
No worries about the long post, @lcpl210 . This is the kind of detail a lot of us live for. Based on your screen name, have we found another US Marine member? (USMC 1989-1993) Of course when I was in we were still slogging around with the M60A4 . . . 🙁
Awesome can’t wait to get my hands on this game. loving the retro theme too guys.
Oh two other things to mention, we almost always took off the number 7 track skirt ( the last panel at the rear of the tank) this was because if we were operating in thick foliage or muddy terrain it would get packed up between the skirt and in the drive sprocket and could cause us to throw track, which is a pain in the butt as well as time consuming if the track came all the way off. So when we were in the field or on mission we would ditch the skirt plate at the motor pool and would only put it on if we were having an inspection by an officer who wasn’t a tanker. The co-ax MG is also a M240. If anyone wants to know more, please ask, I’ll tell you anything that isn’t classified about the Abrams and how tankers actually worked on their tank.
More great information, @lcpl210 . When I eventually build my M1A1s (selected the Soviet kit for the moment), I will definitely cut off the back skirt panel. I’ve seen this in a lot of photos, I didn’t know the reason behind it.
When Anders, Justin, and I did the unboxing episode on the M1 and the M113, we saw a lot more options for the M113 for turret-hatch weapons (Mk 19s, M2HB .50 cals, FN MAG . . . original name for the M240 I think, even a flame thrower evidently) . . . It will be interesting to see if players who get the starter set use some of these M113 extras on the M1 turrets. For instance, I’ve seen Mk 19s on a lot of M1A1/A2 photos out of Iraq, etc.
Not looking, don’t want to be lured unwittingly into another game by BoW 😉
Really wish I would have been able to make it to this one. Stupid traditional American holidays.
Now, *Jedi mind trick*
give to me all of the prize things.
Team yankee does look like a great game, going to have to start stealing money from my holiday fund.
Justin you look like Odd ball from Kellys Heros in that tanker hat
Very nice guys , all I can say is wow.
Dam I needed some gaming goodness just had my job axed by the government so was feeling rather low but this will help.
Want to see how you play this game….we have encountered some…urm…problems
Wow nice job guys , love the flags lol
Cobras are the best yet, so cool.
I am so glad that Battlefront have opened up a new range for to my knowledge covers a time period fresh to miniature gaming. I love the plastic sculpt and would love to emerse myself in this as I am interested in the period in which I was born. The films and television documentaries are heavily weighted to WWII and to a lesser degree Vietnam and other proxy War’s, naturally, as thank God this never kicked off, but its still enormously interesting. I like the Tantalising “What If” backbone strengthening this game. I also like the simplicity of the rules and the supporting cards. which will make all the difference to my gaming group at home. Its very rare that I feel like a kid at Christmas, and I do know! Bring it on, lets Fire-Up the Cold War!
I wish I could have made the Boot Camp, it looks amazing!
How about Frankie Goes to Hollywood – Two Tribes.

So looking foward to how this era works out, Nam looked cool but VC/ NVA no choppers =(, seemed unfair. But two epic super powers, with room for extreme miniture growth…….
watching with baited breathe.
Also good to see growth in our Trans tasmin company, now give us back our silver ware please 😉
This game looks awesome!!! I’m so excited battlefront is making a Abrams finally!!!
Been catching up on yesterdays blogs and it looks great. Can’t wait for more! I hope everyone has an amazing weekend.
So looking forward to Team Yankee..Remember reading the book as a youngster in the eighties, excellent read, really hoping the game lives up to the promise. Good luck for the weekend all.
I am starting to like team Yankee I will like to see more demo games I hope you guys doing One
Love the Lloydislav banners. The great patriotic leader.
Also, do the US infantry get stingers?
The game looks awesome
Just ordered the rulebook
Dang. I had to choose between Team Yankee and Dropzone Commander for Christmas and went scifi. Now I am starting to regret it.
Looks really interesting like always ^^
A great days content. Thanks guys and gals
damn you can’t unbox the new M113 an not show the new parts for it…
I’m looking forward to reading the blogs this weekend and seeing what battleground do with ww3, now let’s have some Brits and west Germans.
The models look great, but from what I hear and see on this show they are much too fiddly for a Bootcamp. I wonder how many participants have their complete army ready to play with during the weekend.
As a Gulf war vet I can say that their is nothing more beautiful than watching an A-10 gracefully glide across the sky the sky and shoot the shit out of a bunch of enemy armor 🙂
I can definitely second that. Most epic thing to watch is an A-10 doing a gun run on the ridge you are taking fire from and then after the A-10 is finished, nothing coming from the ridge anymore.
shame I missed the liveblogs and have only time to catch up now. Will be the same tomorrow.
What you have done with the flags on banners is totally amazing and I am so glad and happy that you have enjoyed them @warzan and @lloyd
@panzerkaput – it’s a big thanks to you mate 🙂
I’ve ordered a Soviet box set and the rule book but with the 2 weeks extra to release I don’t think I will see them in Tasmania until the begining of the new year.
Damn those models are good!
Those hinds are beautyful!
Thanks to being stuck at work until ungodly hours lol I’m only catch up now. Loving the kits so far, that hind is looking every part the predator. The M113 kit looks great, lots of conversion possibilities and variation. hegemongary’s M113 looks alive and the way I remember my first interaction with a real one at Catrick in Yorkshire. Growing up in the 80s I’ve been looking forward to this game for its potential killyness (officially a word now lol), and that template the Cobras are on suggests a lot of damage potential….
Always appropriate: https://youtu.be/pklr0UD9eSo
The Hind is just a beautiful thing……Soviet win ?
The models are looking good. I’m curious about the game play over all. Love to see the German and British in the future.
Can’t wait for TY to hit the stores.. it sees it will be epic and i won’t be left out!!
Can’t wait fot T.Y. FTW will be aired 🙂
Love the midels, love the terrain, love it…
Seems that my wife doesn’t as much…. 😉
Having lived through this period & gamed it since the 80s (then using micro armour) am really excited about Team Yankee. The novel is superb & the new models look great. Can’t wait for a future BAOR extension but am more than happy with the super kit pictured here.
Was lucky this week as part of work to get a chance to crawl all over a T72!
This is going to be my next big game,me thinks.
Great tutorial! !
Thanks for taking the time guys!!
I’m really excited to get our ” Fortress America ” campaign going!!
Oh yeah!!
Btw…
Add the song ” Balls to the wall” by accept.
Rocking anthem…..
Really stoked!!
Can’t wait to play our ” Fortress America ” campaign! !
WOLVERINES! !!
Been in a bit of a modeling dry spell, your bootcamps always get me back into my groove. Awesome first day!
I hope they add west Germans eventually and other NATO factions
Looks like a great boot camp.
Everything looks great.
Especially the aall helicopters look great.
Right now I’m wishing I wouldn’t have gotten everything at once. Now I won’t see any until January, unless the wife got me some for Xmas.
I have to say, I wasn’t interested in this at first but now… I’m quite jealous!
Damm those helicopters look sweet. And the game looks very fun too. I would go whit the Americans. I love the tanks !
I prefer plastic infantry, but honestly, great models!
Ah, nothing says wish fulfilment like Flames of War doing the Cold War!
Wow, Team Yankee! 🙂
Loving the look of this, like always
Those choppers seems pretty nice.
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun!
want to see the models all painted up and see how a game will go ,like a big waiting for Christmas
We need a full gameplay tutorial as other Games please, also in lloydslovia.
So jealous…
Prince Harry came to the bootcamp!?
Again I am super impressed with this boot camp. I like the idea of a couple hour game where I can get a few games in on a day and enjoy the killy bits.
Interesting. Might be one of the few ‘non sci-fi’ games I’ll pick up
I and my mates are really on edge in anticipation for team yankee. Read the book, it was great, the models are great with the usual battlefront quality. hope the sirens on sunday were not the authorities for warren or the medics for dave.
Love the Russian hat!!
I am sure that the game will be great. Too bad that in the near future there will be no new units for the USSR and the USA. I hope BF will not stop the development of these two sides of the conflict.
I started the initial playtest but dropped out for various reasons; I’m thinking of trying to get a buddy of mine interested in this; he has so much Flames of War it will be a tough, but this looks interesting….
