Horus Heresy Alpha Legion by sivyour

We start out with a look at someone who is working their way through some impressive Alpha Legion miniatures for The Horus Heresy. Here, sivyour has been tinkering with the insidious and backstabbing Alpha Legion. Good guys or bad guys?

Alpha Legion #1 by sivyour

This is taking a little bit of a look back in time when it comes to this project. But, as someone who loves the Alpha Legion and painted them up myself for The Horus Heresy, it was worth diving in to check out the painting here.

Alpha Legion #2 by sivyour

I really like seeing how different people approach painting the shimmering metallic blue of the Alpha Legion and how that works across different miniatures. These beakies are looking awesome and I think the extra touches here and there are setting them off. Good job on doing the additional bit of tattoo work on their faces.

Alpha Legion #3 by sivyour

The army has grown to quite a size over the last while and it seems like there are enough Space Marines here to do some serious damage to both Loyalist and Traitor Legions on the tabletop. I do really like the different poses for the larger-than-life elements in this army. For example, the Contemptor is looking grand and striking and the Praetor feels commanding too.

Ankh Gods by joshtogo

Moving on, we turn our attention to some larger-than-life miniatures from CMON's Ankh. joshtogo has been tinkering with the various gods from the game and has painted up a few of them, plus lots of the other miniatures too.

Ankh Gods #3 by joshtogo

What's nice about these miniatures is that you get to play around with all sorts of different colours. With Anubis (above), you have lots of darker tones and a nice contrast between the bronze/gold and the dark skin. It works really well and makes the miniature feel foreboding.

Then, you can look at something entirely different when it comes to the colour that are present in Sobek here. Here we switch from dark tones towards something full of life and colour. It works well with the crocodile green and the brilliant blues. I also like the little notes of colour like the headdress and the shimmering red gem.

last but not least, we have the mighty Ra.

Ankh Gods #2 by joshtogo

Again, another mix of brilliant and wonderful colours that will stand out well on the tabletop. What's nice about this is that it gets across a really awesome "royal" vibe. You'll also note that these miniatures are exhibiting some great use of non-metallic metals! Some great miniatures painted very well.

War Of The Ring High Elves by mischief

Last but not least, we turn our attention to some of the work on a long-running project by mischief. They have finally got to the end of their mammoth project looking at bringing some War Of The Ring/Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game Elves to life.

War Of The Ring Elves #1 - mischief

These miniatures take a pretty awesome approach to the High Elves of Middle-earth. I do like the duller gold and green/blue with the official miniatures but there is something very nice about the alternative silver scheme here. It really pops, especially with those brilliant red sashes.

War Of The Ring Elves #2 - mischief

There are some great breakdowns throughout this project looking at painting the various elements of these miniatures. That includes the swordsmen, archers, spearmen and some of the characters too. Whilst the poses are unfortunately duplicated throughout, there's something about them all ranked up that does look particularly nice.

War Of The Ring Elves #3 - mischief

This army got finished not too long ago and as you can see, it looks pretty impressive when it's all finished. Being a big fan of Elladan and Elrohir, it's fun to see them making an appearance within this collection too.

I hope to finally see these Elves on the tabletop going to war with some of the evil forces of Sauron!
