Savage Core Atlanteans by jeffersonpowers

We lead off this week's Community Spotlight where we're checking out the work of jeffersonpowers who has been working their way through some great Savage Core miniatures, this time delving into the realm of Atlantis and a lost colony of Romans.

Savage Core #1 by jeffersonpowers

jeffersonpowers wanted to try something different for these miniatures, stepping away from the classic way that you'd paint the likes of Romans or Greeks and instead embracing a white/blue/silver look that you see here which gives them a bit more of a mythical feel.

jeffersonpowers used the Kev Dallimore method for painting these miniatures and they have turned out really nicely. It's great seeing the extra work that jeffersonpowers has put into these miniatures and the way that the characters get those few extra bits and pieces here and there to make them stand out.

Savage Core #2 by jeffersonpowers

Whilst jeffersonpowers normally goes for a plain base, they went for something a bit more detailed in this case and wanted to work with the jungle vibe that you get from Savage Core. The earthy tones of the bases work really well as a frame alongside the brighter colours featured in the miniatures.

Savage Core #3 by jeffersonpowers

I also really like the cloaks on these miniatures which feature a nice clear blue on them. The shading and highlighting work very nicely and it will be fantastic to see where the rest of this Savage Core range goes in the near future.

Conan by pafetikbazerka

Next up, we're looking at the work of pafetikbazerka who has been painting their way through the Conan board game by Monolith. They have recently been tackling ALL of the Conan miniatures that you get with the game, showcasing Conan throughout his many years of adventuring.

Conan #2 by pafetikbazerka

pafetikbazerka has done some superb work on these miniatures, all of which are around the same stage at the moment. They have broken down the project so that they talk about the way they painted the flesh, the bright colours and more. There is also a good breakdown of batch painting techniques and trying to keep everything in line.

Conan #1 by pafetikbazerka

Speedpaint leads the way with this particular project alongside a few other techniques for making the details pop without too much effort being required. I was particularly intrigued by the way that pafetikbazerka had nailed the flesh and there is a LOT of that on display.

They have also completed a bunch of the enemies that you'll meet when diving into the Conan board game including these exceptionally well-painted hyenas. I love the spot details!

Conan #3 by pafetikbazerka

As someone who hasn't managed to paint their version of Conan which they have had for a very long time, it's good to see someone working through it. I also really like the basing which works very well to create the look of the different locations present in the game without selecting one in particular.

War Rockets by taochi

Last, but not least, we're having a peek at what taochi is up to as they are working on painting up some awesome rocket ships for Hydra Miniatures' War Rockets.

War Rockets #1 by taochi

They were so enamoured with Star Schlock and that Pulp Sci-Fi vibe that they wanted to dive in and paint up some more miniatures that would suit the theme. So, they picked up these rockets and went to work painting them in some stunningly bright colours!

War Rockets #2 by taochi

Galacteers and Pirates have made their way into taochi's collection. This isn't a range that I'd seen before and it's always good to see when someone starts painting up some fantastic miniatures from something cool that might have flown under the radar.

War Rockets #3 by taochi

The painting is great and completely different from the ways that I've seen rocket ships painted in the past. Going all-in on such vivid colours like the bright green and then matching that against the pure white really is a big gamble and I think it has paid off. These will look superb when all on the tabletop together, set against a galactic backdrop.
