Morning All
First… second… ok 🙁
Happy Sunday!!
Hobby Time is currently hot-gluing new replacement jute onto the cat’s scratching post. 🙂
Our “arrangement” is that he actually uses it (almost) exclusively and I try to keep it in somewhat of a fit condition.
Priorities…. Be back to watch you in a bit. 😀 😛
Happy Sunday!!
It’s the XLBS Show!
Good morning brothers and sisters of CoG.
It’s always good to unwind with the OTT crew and enjoy sharing what we’ve been up to this week.
I myself have been on a quest for all things ‘the Expanse’. After watching the seasons 1 thru 4 for a second time I focused to grab the RPG rulebook and the ‘Art of the Expanse’ book which covers the first three seasons.
We all know that @Wazan is planning on doing some cosplay based on Jedi, so in that spirit I have decided to put together a vac suit based on the ‘Belters’ equipment loading. I’m a bit large in the middle area so the semi loose coverall/jumpsuit will help to hide some of that so it’s a good choice I think. I love headgear so getting to wear a space helmet is a win win for me.
Once I have the RPG rulebook read a couple of times it’ll be time to start my players on a campaign in the solar system and see what they get into. I imagine we’ll be building some ship minis for grid play and some Deck layouts for the character miniatures to run around in as game play might need.
There’s nothing like sinking into a new area or SciFi. SciFi with real physics!
Love the expanse. And would love top see your vac suit when it’s done.
I would like to take part in an expa se rpg but not many people I know watch the expanse. ?
The Expanse is an immense Sci-Fi series. So glad Amazon saved it. They’ve done a Cyberpunky/Sleuthing series, a deep space High Sci-Fi series and now one which feels more like a Western. So many ideas thrown into the show.
The Expanse is amazing. I’ve read all the books and novellas, need to get back watching the series. I heard the RPG is excellent, the setting certainly lends itself well for roleplaying. Some of the actors of the series also play!
Cockaphracti – hilarious!
Why would you eat a Turkey? It has balls on it’s face.
It’s a bit weird that you chose the Dragon since it’s not really a Dragon it’s actually the Devil if I remember my Joan of Arc Game. Looks cool though. I really like the idea of a Historical Army with Fantasy elements, I’m doing that myself with Kings of War.
The Romans were utter degenerates even by their own standards. They had orgies with animals for goodness sake. @warzan you need to do some deep research into Brothel coins called Spintria. I think ol’ baldy needs some tokens for his new army.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spintria
the devil is a different mini in the joan of arc game from mythic though 🙂
Happy Sunday guys. I wonder what kind of riders you would put on Justin Cavalry.
Good to see Warren speaking enthusiastically about his hobby again.
I have been struggling myself with the hobby and have found Napoleonic’s to be my next start for 2020.
Happy Sundays to you all.
Was thinking you need to find some topless Amazon riders for Justins new Cav and go with a whole 1980’s “Heavy Metal” magazine vibe (BTW the Heavy Metal movie has just popped up on Netflix for some really bad B movie vibes) 😀
F.a.k.k. 3 maybe?
Happy Sunday
@dignity Haggis and cheddar toastie…. try them!
Ride hard riders of Justin!
Happy Sunday all,
There is a great Board game called Alhambra.
Its a classic and well worth a play 🙂
Alhambra is a wonderful game. A proper classic to throw into your collection.
Happy Sunday!
I don’t have a problem with gold buttons being for projects only – but I would say that as I already put everything I do in projects anyway. As long as the rule change is clearly communicated in advance it shouldn’t cause any issues.
I don’t mind it being projects only too…but so many people don’t actually start projects and instead show their stuff off in the forums so I have to find a balance.
It should encourage people to use the project system so it’s a good thing as far as I am concerned! Doesn’t take long to open one up even if you only post the finished images.
Great episode – Totally agree the Dragon looks awesome. I was the very lucky person who won one as a prize on an XLBS… my fingers are still crossed that it will arrive one day.
Morning. You should of had that by now mate!
Drop a message on the podio claim entry and I’ll chase it up with Mythic tomorrow 🙂
Justin needs to do a hobby live stream painting those. The chat will be epic!
SIT WHEN PEEING!
you barbarians!
And Justin: make a community challenge from your new rides 😉
Happy Sunday guys,
A gift from Warren is always going to be something to be a little worried about. Justin said he is mainly doing sci-fi now but those would be great mounts for Daemonettes of Slaanesh and slide in nicely to that force.
Very surprised how well the scale of the Dragon from JoA fit in with the elephant and looking forward to seeing how that all comes together. Also interested to know what colour you are thinking for the Dragon.
Gerry’s basing is looking great and very interested to see how you get on with the water effect stuff.
A couple of thoughts on the Golden BUtton front. What effect would it have if any on ‘What are you Paining now’
Is there any point if people end up making a project just to post a final pic. Will that dilute the projects that are more tutorial-based making stuff harder to find?
Have a good everyone
I’m happy with it being as it is to be honest. It highlights the forums and the projects…but that’s just me.
Happy Sunday……. Poor Justin, Warren has stiffed him again…..
The Oliphaunt with something like Battle cats head piece would pretty cool
I think we need some slaanesh cavalry riding those
Justin, do the Mutunus Tutinus . . . . Shame to hear your D&D plan fell through, was looking forward to an update on the Mushroom forest but what it sounds like your daughter provided the gaming group, at her age (forgive me I forget how old you’ve said your kids are except “young”), it seems like quite the achievement, I’ve played with adults that didn’t seem half as interesting as your brief description. Lloyd, re shore troopers, I know the name sounds odd but I’ve envisaged them as the equivalent of troops that were garrisoned at the Atlantic wall, more a defensive formation of storm troopers, siege guys perhaps, that are stationed along a coastline.
Happy Sunday one and all.
Lmfao as @warzan broke @dignity with his xmas gift Cockaphracti.
I’d be cool with Golden Buttons only going to COGs using the Projects system. I’ve been meaning to make more use of Projects myself and it would be good to know the route to use to get stuff into contention for a Golden Button.
Perhaps my first project this year will be my Celtic Gaesatae army, then Justin can see the actual historical basis for his Skyclad army.
Also I support the idea of Golden Buttons being projects only.
Mutunus Tutunus!!
Mutunus Tutunus!!
Mutunus Tutunus!!
Mutunus Tutunus!!
Mutunus Tutunus!!
The Golden buttons for projects sounds but wouldnt say yes straight away until knowing more about the other changes you have planned
@amachan It sounds like your having fun in your religious celebrations today
I’ll paint the mootinus tootinus for you @dignity ?
Happy Sunday!!! First and foremost. That would be one swollen, penetrating, cock-strong cavalry! Go Justin!!!!! Go deep into this project. ?
I’ll need more Dwarf cannons to deal with Gerry’s Ogres… or do I fight fire with fire and paint my own? Bases are very nice.
Golden Buttons – having it restricted to projects would be good and perhaps give a more community feel to the awards.
Sorry Justin, but you really need to do that clipperless skyclad army. Once you get a nice zenith on those handsome steads I’m sure you’ll be able to polish them off in no time.
I’m in a bit of a short hobby funk myself right now. No resolutions, but trying to be more gaming conscious or less scattergun in choosing my painting projects, to have the fruits of my labor leading to more gaming rather than just having random minis painted.
Was there a conclusion round up video after the Flames of War global D Day campaign? If there was I missed it. I enjoyed the few games I was able to play and enter battle reports on, plus the painting that it encouraged out of me.
I think the next game I play will be Blood and Plunder. The week of content you did with Firelock recently just reminded me the fun I had last time I played and the tons of kitbashing and painting fun I have had bringing my Blood and Plunder forces together.
Happy New Year.
Happy Sunday, love the penussaurus but was abit worried that Jerry was really examining them a bit to close, question? will they have a spit attack??
You should have the Knight in white for the dragon so he stands out so the army can see him @warzan
Lol you can get John to paint them pink Justin???
Justin not seen Willow…. that’s a disciplinary right there
Mad Mardigan you really are great
Loved the show guy’s??
Button for projects is a nice idea, selfishly I felt the Chaos Deamon army could have got some love…
Trying to kickoff hobby for 2020 but struggling will finish up Legion set with a few addons.
Then I want to get back to Flames to War and the Normandy table.
I knew what they were just by the feet…. oh Cults3D…. I’ve been 3d printing for a while so I know a lot of websites…. why’d you print so… many… LOL?**
** I know your guys humor to well! lol
Will the mutinus tutinus cavalry have a ranged attack?
When did xlbs become Warren’s spitballing program?
I’ve not painted anything likely to compete for a Golden Button in a long while so I don’t really have a personal stake in this, but although I can see the benefits of having entries come from projects, I think there is quite a big downside with that approach.
I think that when the Golden Buttons started they were pretty informal. They still are. They’re not ‘painting awards for the best painters’. They’re ‘community recognition for a good piece of work, however defined’.
I’m sure some people who win Goldon Buttons don’t even think about ‘entering’ their models into a competition. They just post in WAYPN. Those people probably aren’t going to start creating projects as that’s not what they’re interested in and they weren’t posting photos of their minis to win anything anyway.
Keeping them for anyone who posts anything anywhere gives maximum flexibility to recognise work by community members wherever they are.
(If you go down the ‘project only’ route perhaps you could create a project which justs consists of GB winners? You could tag the owners so there is some link to the owners but they wouldn’t have to actually create a project themselves if they didn’t want to.
I thought those Mutinus Tutinus would have been right up Justins ally.
When is the next delivery of SWL coming in to the store as I need some Imperials before @lloyd and @avernos nab them? At least I know why they are out of stock, lol
Arrived today actually
I thought you was going to say Too Slow @avernos
When is the website going to updates?
probably tomorrow when Tom is in
Thanks there @avernos you are a star
Oh time to grab a Krennic
Lol
@dignity stay strong and refuse cocks in your army.
Great show as always gentlement. Loving Gerry’s Ogre army, it’s great to see older, forgotten projects being revisited and bought back to life. Hope to see a KoW Let’s Play with them and some of the other studio armies at some point!
Personally not concerned if only Projects are eligable for Golden Buttons, I struggle with WAYPN thread as I can never find anything.
Finally any chance Warren can 3d print teeny tiny OTT crew members to ride the Cav?
Just re-watched this, and forgotten how funny the episode was. Couple of thing`s, has Justin done his one eyed heavy mutunus tutunus. Has Warren finished his crusade army and dragon.
