WWX Demo Game: Union VS Enlightened Part Four!
February 26, 2015 by dignity
It's showdown time! Maybe you could call it high noon or even a minute to midnight! Whatever you want to call it it's the finale to our Wild West Exodus Demo Game!
Justin's Union forces have taken an absolute hammering but will he be able to bring it back and have Abe save the day?
Sean will have something to say about that I'm sure with his angry Enlightened! Watch and find out who is going to be pushing up daisies by the end of the day!
Watch The Battle From The Start!
Part One: Set Up & First Turn!
Part Two: Abe Lincoln Going Axe-Mad!
Who do you think will win?

Yes, my WWX crack shot for tonight. I think Justin is in a tough spot with all of his troopers up on the balcony and probably a little less experience than Sean. But a great game so far.
I think the outcome seemed obvious since turn 2 but a great demo game that has certainly got me interested.
I do love this vid but i think Justin is looking to loose this one.
This is looking great so far!
And I must say thats a really nice board you have there 😀
this starting to look like good fun
justin that was a stuffing beyond paxo lol your a gent tho ill give you that…..
I’m thinking Justin should have never put the troops on the balcony, which basically caged them in for the whole battle. May have been better to run them forward behind the center terrain piece, with the Iron Horses flanking on either side (which, with their speed, would have allowed at least one to get behind the enemy line). Keep Lincoln and Pinkerton with the troops, pop up over the hill and set up the gun-line on the objective.
Yeah, I was thinking that as well. They didn’t really play a big part until the end of turn 3.
I am liking the look of this game. 🙂
Great Game :o)
I was hoping Union would win. That Lincoln model is great.
Great game! I can’t wait to play
Very enjoyable to watch
This was an enjoyable demo game. It did fall into the usual slugfest where everything piled into a 15″ radius, but at least from the standpoint of seeing the mechanics in use, it was a good primer.
Awesome playthrough! Great to see how the game engine works.
Great demo. This game looks really fun.
Really good game to watch. it showed how to play really well
Great game. Could have swung with the initiative
Should have used Grant!
Cool demo game!
Doomsday, its so shiny!!
Great game guys.
Fun game. Justin acquitted himself quite well against someome a lot more experienced at the game.
Cool demo
Great game, think I might have to build my own table to match theirs!
Just got to play this the a couple of days ago, great game!
Intriguing stuff guys, may have to give this a whirl! 🙂
Ah, Justin. It was great to see honest Abe hacking away. He’s super hardcore, especially with his personal bodyguard. Better luck next time dude!
Please do another one
Justin, play the objective(s)!
So, sounds like there are morale rules that punish those of us that like to take smaller groups of higher value models (Mordheim dwarfs, anyone?) but nobody ever has a morale rule that lets the remaining guys go berserk when their leader is killed. Like: Mr. President, NO! Kill the rat basterds!
Can the objective(s) be destroyed? Or retaken, by killing the taker? Does RJ-1027 (someone’s birthday?) give teleportation powers then? And if the objective disappears, why doesn’t the one taking go with it off the board? Gosh-darned tournament thinking.
Any suppression fire rules? Seems like the gatling guns on the Doomsday should have received that for firing on the balcony. Duck, boys!
Dr. Carpathian seems a little OP, with his nuke rifle (shouldn’t he be in a continuous state of Radiation for carrying it?) and the ability to turn off RJ-1027 weapons. Besides his creations, can he bring back a dead enemy or formerly living ally?
Lincoln is great but Carpathian rules. I agree with Bigdaddio, such a a game needs a moving strategy. I think It’d been possible to avoid frontal fight with Doomsday. The iron horses would have helped a lot following an harassment tactic while covering Sheridan’s commando.
Really good demo! Have gone from “what is this game?” to “where can i get this game?” lol
Great demo game. Things I would change ( with the advantage of hindsight ) :
Sheridan and the Armoured Troopers would be a mobile unit going up towards the objectives, to make use of that free Aim for the first shot and then have them take cover and camp the objectives.
Pinkerton should activate at the same time as Abe, all the time every time, keeping them well within 6″ of each other all day. I know Sean moved them apart during the game, then first thing should be to get them back in ” coherencey ” because Pinkerton’s ability to take damage for Abe should never be wasted. Then they can shadow the Armoured Troopers and act as a reserve for them, that power 13 axe can mess things up close and personal like, let alone the shotgun and Pinkerton’s rifle.
The Iron Horses would then go up a flank hunting Heavy Support choices and causing a distraction ( and chaos ) in general.
Short version, I am in agreement with @bigdaddio. 😀
I need to play this game proper…
Can’t wait to get my gaming group into this!
Great demo
Good Demo Game and I see that I have not been activating properly. I want to know more about the Crossbow that I can see in the black box with white lettering. Its been there the whole time and I am curious to what it is. Its under the table visible on Justin’s side.
Love the game play. This is one I will be picking up.
Great game! Unlucky Justin
I did like the game. As some of the folks were saying Justin got trapped on that balcony. As he said himself (as did Sean) he focused on that big ol’ machine… just because it was big. Well he did have a plan but…. hmmm it did not work out.
Cool demo. The table looks awesome.
quite looking forward to seeing this game up close and personal like
good stuff
I liked it. I think Grant will be better suited to a firing line like Justin Had while inching forward. Abe seems to need more support with him if he’s to be used effectively. But still, being out there practically by himself he’s a beast.
That variable first turn is great. Every turn it changed how the game was going completely.
Cover doesn’t appear to be ridiculously important in this game. It helps but your guys can survive without it. Very different to say, Infinity
just getting better and better
Yeeehaaaaw. Bring on the kickstarter.
Once Justin committed forces to dealing with the Doomsday (not a bad plan) he needed to finish the job…
Generally reacting (or over-reacting) to your opponents moves is a good way to let them dictate the pace and ultimately the outcome…
i want to play!
love the doomsday
Thanks BoW Team for this great demo.
Looks like a realy great game
Poor justin…
A great game, love the terrain.
Noooooooo, my Union!
Some enlightened models are just insane, lovely
Great show, I bet you had a lot of fun 🙂
Looks like a fun game combat may be a little kludgey.
Great demo game and the close up cam works great. i’ve also enjoyed the end of turn chats to camera. Really good job.
Good gme thanks for the demo
Good game, would be good if there was a follow on battle.
I never sign up to websites, yes I’m over forty, but over the past month I’ve been looking into miniature wargaming. Came across Beasts, and what a great job you guys do. Thanks for helping narrow down my choices. Wild West Exodus looks like everything I’m looking for. Thanks guys.
Good game
This has been a great intro to the game. I love the little cuts where the two players give us some insight into what they are thinking regarding their next actions. Good to see how what we want to do can be so easily frustrated by what the other side does.
Just packing up my WWX ready for the Hammerhead Show this Saturday, hope everyone is going to enjoy playing it
looked like a good and fun game. Better luck next time Justin
A great finish to a very well played out demo. Fantastic way to promote the game to a fresh audience.
unlucky Justin, i’m sure you’ll get him next time
UNION forever! 😀
Really liking the battle report format guys, especially the evil monologues! Having it split into 3 parts was a good idea as I found I didn’t drift in and out like I do watching some AAR videos- each day has been a scramble to finish work and get home for the next instalment…
Thumbs up- and I’d love to see the Warrior Nation go up against the Union next time!
Ok, completely sold on the game. Ordered some of the novels and waiting on 1 March.
Well played guys. Thanks for the entertainment.
Kinda saw that outcome coming from basically turn two, still a fun watch though and getting a feel for how the game plays I reckon it looks enjoyable. Plenty of room for trying clever activations that’s for sure.
Thanks for the demo guys. Definitely a very cool game. Just might have to get me some Enlightened.
better luck next time Union!
yay enlightened win!
Great battle report, I really like this format with player commentary at the start of each episode. A new standard for BoW battle reports?
Yea for the Enlightened…..Great game guys, would love to see more of these wonderful battle reports from you guys….quality all around.
I will check the end a little bit later cause i am still at the job but go go go Chief (Justin) i know it looks bad but if you have good roll anything can happen !!
Looks like it plays well, looking forward to getting my hands on some stuff
Sean played this well and deserved his victory.
Excellent game
Fun demo. I’ll have to rewatch them all at once at some point.
Can’t wait to have time to watch this
That was a little painful to watch. Fun though.
Nice game guys! Personally I think had Justin activated his already damaged missile pod Iron Horse first in turn 2 or 3 instead of the other one and blown up that Doomsday it might have looked a little different…
Also fun story, I went to the doctor today and it’s not looking good… He said the only cure is to win this WWX pledge. I shit you not that is a true story. Well maybe.
Haha oh dear Justin
Enjoyable daily battle fix, well done on this video series.
Great vid though
I wanted the union to win!
Found your site after hearing about Wild West Exodus on the D6G podcast. I’ve been looking at Old West games and WWX looks pretty awesome.
That board is just so evocative..
WWX looks like a fun and quick to play.
That was a great game it helps a lot to see the demo games
No! The president has been shot.
Thanks for the demo of this game. Very cool.
Wicked game guys!
Great demo! Can’t wait for the kickstarter.
Great game
A great game and well explained and easy to follow. I think that Justin should have activated the rocket pod ironhorse rather than the mg armed. the aimed rockets could have finished the disabled truck off which could have saved a lot of damage later. Hind sight is a great thing. Congrats again to both Shaun and Justin for a very entertaining game. Thanks Guys
Makes me want to get a game in this weekend.
I have really enjoyed this batrep since I am trying to get more people into the game. Such a good way to get people interested.
Awesome game!
Thanks guys for this video of a demo.
Very cool to see how the game mechanics work.
Loving It
Great demo game, really want to give this a try
I’m going to take the easy way out. All this faction chat is driving me nuts (steering wheel in underpants jokes aside). So, me and the boy are going to buy the two-player starter set ‘Outlaws & Lawmen’ and be done with it. Sat looking at the minis when my lovely, and knowing, wife wandered in and noticed me staring at the screen. “Models or tanks?”, she asks. By ‘models’ she didn’t mean girly ones either! D.x
Great game guys
great game looking to play it some time myself also wondering where to get or make scenery like tohe plateo and catus
Well played gentlemen. Easy to say that Justin should have moved the gun-line up during the game, but then he would have had all his men together for Carpathian to splatter. A tricky situation. Thoroughly enjoyable.
The end result wasn’t a surprise. But it was still a good demo game, showcasing many different rules and mechanics. I also think it would have been wiser to ignore the Doomsday and head for Dr. Karpatian instead.
Nice game. I like that the wounds of each character makes it difficult to lose a boss in a single shot.
