WoFun Games has now released a whole bunch of packs for those wanting to get into wargaming throughout history. These "flat" miniatures are based on the artwork of Peter Dennis and give you a great window Historical wargaming with very little preparation at all!

Each of these sets comes with all of the miniatures you need to start up an army for their give period. They have been out there for a while in some cases, but this gives you a nice showcase of options for what you can dive into thanks to the combined efforts of WoFun, Peter Dennis and Andy Callan who has worked on the rules for these different packs.

Each set comes with all of the miniatures you need for gaming the period as well as the Rules in PDF form which you can look through and set up battles quickly. These seem like a really great idea for those who want to dive into Historical wargaming but don't really want to go through the process of painting the armies.

Historical wargaming can seem pretty foreboding, especially when you consider just how many miniatures you need to actually paint to fit the different periods and you then have to deal with the aforementioned painting which can be quite intricate and detailed.

I could see a fair few people picking up these packs and putting them together for a few games with friends. The range promises to grow too as Peter Dennis has drawn a lot of wonderful pieces of art over the years.

I think it would be hard to resist diving in if we were to see some Vikings and Anglo-Saxons take to the field in flat form.

What do you make of this idea?
