Taking on the role of three American soldiers and their team, they head into enemy territory in hopes of rescuing a French Resistance Fighter. With crucial intelligence at stake that the Allies need, will our heroes be able to save the day or will it all go FUBAR?
Are you going to give this a go when it releases?
Its Justin what else would he do when his butt is in danger!
when the OTT Team go’s full dirty dozen on a German town. a great video guy’s.
That was awesome. So much better than I expected.
What quarter of 2022 will this be available?
Just watched the play test and can’t wait to get my hands on the rule book.
Great stuff, really enjoyed that. And what happened to leave no man behind?
My interest in this game skyrocketed after watching this Let’s Play. Reminds me of Fantasy Flight’s “Only War”, in a good way! Though of course, a lot more realistic.
In terms of feedback, two things.
1) It seemed very easy to get hit, with the PC’s getting dropped fairly quickly. Perhaps that’s because they often didn’t have cover, or just lucky rolling on the part of the DM. It’s obviously more ‘realistic’, and I like the idea of forcing players to use Cover, but I can see this going against the group very quickly. One or two bad rolls or decisions and the players are dead. Maybe a mechanic to ‘dodge’ a shot, which I suppose is what that Armour Save was. Maybe you always get one ‘dodge’ per round, and if it hits armour you add the armour to that pool? Maybe this could even be an optional rule to lower the lethality of the game. Otherwise perhaps regular mooks should be rolling fewer dice on average, especially if they get to combine to form a dice pool.
2) The cover mechanics are simple and elegant, almost exactly like the Warhammer 40k roleplay line from FFG. However, having played countless hours of that, having “Called Shot” mechanics where you can hit specific body parts tends to just relegate cover to a static penalty.
For example, I’d be willing to bet that players will take the 2 dice penalty to hit the guy’s head every time over having to roll normally and then rolling to hit a random body part. Depending on how many body parts are exposed, the math probably even works out in some cases that 2 less dice needing 6’s is actually better odds than randoming into an exposed body part.
I love these cover mechanics but I’ve almost never seen them come into play in 40k because players always just choose to take the -20% chance to hit and go for exposed parts.
Will definitely be grabbing this game when it hits shelves, though!
