Warlord Games has been talking about some separate ships you can pick up for use in your Black Seas fleets. The focus here is on both the Royal Navy and French 1st Rate ships which are made using a mixture of metal and resin components.

Royal Navy 1st Rate #1 - Black Seas

Leading the way we have the Royal Navy 1st Rate ship which you can bring into the mix, bristling with guns and packed full of detail. These ships have access to some of the best customisation options and upgrades allowing you to tailor them to suit your particular playstyle.

Royal Navy 1st Rate #2 - Black Seas

As well as the actual model itself you'll also be able to get the ship with an optional figurehead option, flag sheets so you can show your colours plus of course the rigging and ratlines. I do like the look of classic tall ships, mighty vessels which were iconic war machines of the time. It must have been fascinating seeing them come to life and set sail but then fighting aboard one was a different matter!

First Rate Frenchies

As well as the Royal Navy options there's also one for the French too.

French Navy 1st Rate #1 - Black Seas

These French First Rate ships could withstand a lot of punishment and should be able to handle themselves against a lot of different ships from amongst the ranks of the British fleet.

French Navy 1st Rate #2 - Black Seas

Much like with the Royal Navy option you get the flags, rigging, ratlines and more allowing you to show off on the tabletop. As well as the smoke from cannon fire in the midst of combat I think one of the key things about why this brand of naval warfare works so well is the pomp and ceremony you get from it. Having bright, colourful ships looking resplendent on the tabletop is a nice sight indeed...well, until they all get blown up.

What do you make of these 1st Rate ships?
