Corvus Belli Romans & Gauls Battle In Mortem Et Gloriam

The Plastic Soldier Company has now released the classic Corvus Belli 15mm wargaming miniatures for the updated Mortem et Gloriam. Both Early Imperial Romans and Gallic Starter Armies can be snagged from their webstore right now.

Both of these sets come with some stunning miniatures from the classics collections by Corvus Belli that somewhat vanished into the ether a few years ago. Inside the Early Imperial Roman Army set you'll get...

  • 3x mounted command (general, standard, bodyguard)
  • 6x foot command (2 x general, standard, musician)
  • 14x veteran legionary infantry (assorted mix of two poses with gladius)
  • 28x legionary infantry (assorted mix of poses with pilum)
  • 14x auxiliary infantry (assorted mix of poses with sword)
  • 12x cavalry (assorted mix of two poses)

So, the core of a good fight force which you can see a little bit of here...

There is plenty of detail worked into these miniatures across their weapons, armour and faces too. I think these would be a great way to get stuck into gaming in Mortem et Gloriam with a recognisable and fun to paint army.

Glorious Mortem et Gloriam Gauls

As well as the Romans, you've also got the chance to introduce their fearsome foes, the Gauls, into the mix. This is another Starter Army to get you going in Mortem et Gloriam.

Here is the breakdown of what you get in this box. As you might imagine, it's a pretty big horde of fighting warriors from the wilds of Europe.

  • 3x mounted command (general, standard, musician)
  • 7x foot command (3 x general, 3 x standard, 1 x musician)
  • 21x Soldurii/noble infantry (assorted mix of naked warriors)
  • 42x warrior infantry (assorted mix of poses)
  • 6x noble cavalry (assorted mix of two poses)
  • 12x unarmoured cavalry (assorted mix of poses)
  • 4x slinger infantry (assorted mix of poses)
  • 4x javelin infantry (assorted mix of poses)

You can get seriously colourful with an army like the Gauls, throwing in plenty of blues, greens, reds and of course potentially even tackling all of their tattoos as well.

You also have to do less freehand work on those tiny shields so making those designs pop should be a lot easier. Also, those are some pretty darn good 15mm horses. I think I might even actually enjoy painting those.

Are you tempted by either the Romans or the Gauls for Mortem et Gloriam?
