War Banner has been previewing more of their awesome Samurai models for Warring Clans. We start off with a Female Samurai, the Onna Bugeisha.

Onna Bugeisha - War Banner

The Onna Bugeisha were women who were trained to fight and defend their households against marauding invaders. I honestly didn't know about their existence until a few months ago when we started to see models for them from Bad Squiddo Games.

They were fierce warriors and trained exactly like the men, able to use many different weapons. Primary amongst them was the long naginata that you see here which became synonymous with their ilk.

As well as the Onna Bugeisha we also got to see a few more Ashigaru with various ranged weapons. Here you can see a little vignette of them handing out ammo to some of their shooters.

We also have some painted models from the War Banner team showing off Ashigaru with Teppo.

These were some of the early firearms to arrive in Japan, and as Sam has mentioned on previous Weekender shows, it was what allowed Nobunaga Oda to unify and control the islands of Japan.

What aspects of Japanese warfare would you like to see War Banner add into the mix?
