The Art Of... Volumes 10-12 Kickstarter // Dave Taylor Miniatures

As Dave himself says, The Art Of...series has been designed to highlight the painting of these artists from around the world and provide a look into their process, their journey and the wisdom that they can impart. Individual artists as well as groups are featured throughout the course of the series and rather than being a "how to" manual, the idea is that these books should be inspirational and get you into the right headspace to begin work on your own projects.

New Books - The Art Of...

New Books // The Art Of...

The newest series of books (featured above) covers the work of Roman Lappat, Sam Lenz and Josua Lai. In Lappat's case, his volume is about turning miniature painting into a way of life and exploring the growth in your painting from the beginning to the point you're at now. There never is an end! He also explores the painting and happiness so you can understand what brings you joy in the process.

Sam Lenz goes into detail about big basing as well as exploring the ways that you can experiment and call on your inspiration to drive you. He also looks at two-dimensional work on three-dimensional figures and how to make that work. Last but not least we have Josua Lai who goes into detail about planning and design, techniques for building miniatures (in various forms) and also how to create atmosphere and mood in your dioramas.

The books above are available in both physical and digital form, whichever you'd prefer. The physical books are immense coffee table volumes that would be great to flick through when you're looking to get a bit of inspiration whilst having your breakfast.

Previous volumes of the books from The Art Of... series are available from Dave Taylor Miniatures. If you've got a favourite artist, they have probably worked with Dave Taylor to explore their painting journey by now.

One of our favourite painters, Tommie Soule, has a brilliant volume in the series. You can also check out our talk with Tommie about painting on Cult Of Games XLBS HERE to get some inspiration!

Make sure to tell us if you're going to be diving in and checking out this next series of The Art Of... books. Are there artists that you'd love to see featured as part of the collection?
