Deadzone: Magnetar Containment Protocols In Effect From Monday
May 12, 2022 by avernos
Mantic Games are launching their first global campaign for its Warpath sci-fi universe with Deadzone: Magnetar.
Deadzone: Magnetar // Mantic Games
Since Containment Protocols were declared, the beleaguered city has attracted attention from all over the galaxy. Although billed as an ‘entertainment planet’, if you scratch below the glittering surface, there’s a much darker side to Magnetar that’s ripe for the taking.
Over the coming weeks, you’ll have the opportunity to choose your faction and battle it out to take control of Magnetar’s various districts. Each week Mantic will be unveiling a new district in the city to battle over with some (optional) narrative rules available for that location, before ending in a dramatic finale for the future of Magnetar.
CAMPAIGN SCHEDULE

Deadzone Free Rules // Mantic Games
To coincide with the campaign people can download the basic Deadzone rules. That doesn't mean that you're only going to get part of the rules though, it is the complete rule book but you won't have the background stories that go with it or the force list book. You can get around that by popping over to Easy Army and creating your Lists there which means as long as you have some d8 you can go right ahead and play with whatever minis you have to hand.
I'm a big fan of Deadzone and Firefight, both the universe they inhabit and the rules that support them are extremely good and with each new release or iteration they are expanding the universe more and more. I hope they manage to purge the infestation and lift the Deadzone designation as I still have to play out some matches of Dreadball on the Galactic Tour Circuit.
When the Veer-myn came, Magnetar City simply wasn’t prepared.

I think dredd player’s will love this version of the game ( BLOCKWAR).
I actually got the chance to play Deadzone and Firefight last Monday night. My friend who is a Badab War addict asked me to help him test-play army lists for Minotaurs and the Lamanters. He based the two lists on the Enforcers. I have to say it was a blast. Both games run smoothly and are fun to play.
I hope someone brings out Firefight lists for the Horus Heresy. I would certainly buy into that. In the meantime I am diving in to Firefight with the Forge Fathers.
If there were Deadzone lists for 30k/40k I would try them out. In principle I like the idea of Deadzone, just can’t do anything with any of the factions.
give it time …
I must admit that initially I was sceptical and couldn’t quite get what the factions were and how they worked.
However the way Mantic have presented the factions prior to the release of Firefight/Deadzone has meant that I finally understood them. I’ve also noticed that the rules have just enough fluffy extras to make the factions work like the fluff says they should. The lack of endless ‘special’ rules is refreshing to say the least.
oh yeah, DEADZONE! It’s so good, they made Firefight 2.0
