Take A Peek At New 40K Redemptor Dreadnought & Ultramarine Doctrines
July 14, 2017 by brennon
We're now getting the official look at the Redemptor Dreadnought from the folks at Games Workshop for the new edition of Warhammer 40,000. Take a look...
These towering constructs allow a warrior to fight on even after falling in battle and are the extension of their mastery in battle, augmented with some new technology. We got a look at the statistics of these walking tombs as well in their update from the Warhammer Community website.
Armed with the likes of the macro plasma incinerator and the heavy onslaught gatling cannon you have some powerful weapons to bring to bear. You'll also be able to see this walker in action over on Warhammer TV when they go live with a Battle Report today at 2pm BST.
Ultramarine Doctrines
As well as the Redemptor Dreadnought we also got a peek at the Doctrine that the Ultramarines will be able to use when they head to battle.
Their doctrine certainly feels suitable for the Ultramarines. Their higher leadership means they won't be running away in a hurry or being pulled down by the enemy and the ability to fall back and fire echoes 'They Shall Know No Fear' from the older editions in a way too.
It will be fun seeing what the other doctrines are for the other chapters too now.
Will you be getting a Redemptor Dreadnought?

I am kinda liking Redemptor Dreadnought. That said that Ultramarines Doctrine doesn’t seem that great but maybe I am wrong and it turns out to be actually useful.
I like the idea of the Doctrines been “fluffier” than really useful. Just an slight touch, to make the space marines feel diferent, is great in my opinion.
I have not played Bolt Action, but it sure makes me think about that game and their armies special rules.
Fall back and shoot is awesome, even at -1 to hit. Still not game-breaking though so makes for a cool fluffy rule.
Dreadnought seems ok. Not too powerful but better than the standard variant, which seems to follow the whole premise of the Primaris. Still coming to terms with its looks though. Not sold on it yet. Maybe its better in the flesh.
I think any ability to do something when you fall back is amazing… especially for rapid fire weapons.. .a tac squad with flamers… some primaris hellblasters that can slip out of combat and open up with S7, Ap -3 … One of the toughest parts (IMHO) for shooting armies in this edition is that so many units can deploy 9.1″ away and possibly charge… so anything that lets you either increase Overwatch or get out of combat and be relevant (cough, Land Raider, Cough.. COUGH! COUGH!!!) is going to be powerful.
Being able to fall back and still shoot is extremely useful especially for vehicles that can’t fly.
Doesn’t look as sleek as the rest of primaris. Still only strength seven like the regular dreadnaughts and venerable variant. I was hoping it would at least be on par with the ironclad at eight strength. Also is this gonna be an easy to make kit like everything else right now, so only options are what we see here? I’ll have to tune in to warhammer tv
To my eye that looks more Orky than Spacemarine
Looks more Dwarven than Spacemarine, with a great beergut.
It’s still on the want list though…
No it doesn’t have a metal beard on the outside of the walker … so that stops it being too dwarfy ……*sighs……. anyone remember the squat walkers with their metal beards …. I do …. *cries……. (The wounds are still raw GW… and this grudge is yet to be struck off)
I think with some better posing you could make this look as intimidating as the old Dreadnoughts.
It is a bit static at the moment for me.
That static pose seems to be the major theme for the new primaris marines though ..
Its an improvement on old no knees, but I’d still probably go for a contemptor plastic kit if I was adding a dreadnought, its just a nicer model.
He’s crotch is incredibly armoured I’ll give that much
Would have been fun to see… I dunno…. any Chapter other than Ultramarines have their rules teased.
Well Smurfs are poster boys of 40k so what is chance of any other chapter has getting spotlight over them. It even reflects to plastic color they gave to easy build Primaris Marines. But I do agree with you that it would be nice to see some other chapter have they rules teased instead.
love the look of the new dreadnought.
Love the look of the Redemptor. It’s nowhere near as static looking as the old ones ” old no knees ” as @nogginthenog called it.
I like the new design and nothing is stopping me from customizing it.
The dreadnought looks to me like it’s been put on some sort of medieval rack and stretched, exposing all of its joints, it looks more vulnerable in my eyes than redemtor. I’m also not a fan of the titty guns but these ones seem to have slipped down to be closer to its waist to be closer to its bear belly. Maybe this is what happens when a dreadnought spends too much time in Bugmans eating all those massive plates of loveliness!!!???? For my tastes it will always be the contemptor variant first and then ol’ no knees. They do… Read more »
Its got moobs and a bumper-belly. How am I going to fix it?
Might have to combine some bits from the HH set to give it a pilot and a slim-down design.
That’s the first of the new releases that isn’t double-plus-wow 🙂
Think I’ll have to wait and see how easy it is to get it into different poses. I really loved the original dreadnought and the contemptor versions but from the photos so far I’m a bit unsure. The doctrines look good, hopefully there’ll be chaos legions specific ones as I’m interested to see how the Word Bearers are looking compared to the 7th edition supplement.
