Happy Sunday guys!
What what what?! Get rid of Happy Sunday?! Nooooo! Still brings a smile to my face before I go to work.
Keep Happy Sunday alive! It took Warren the better part of a year to get the guys to say it! Now we’re gonna retire it? NO!
Happy Sunday stays, and that’s that!
@warzan You can take our backstage membership fee!! But ye cannae take our Happy Sunday!!
Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Don’t forget how long a career Mr Forsyth had using his ‘corny’ catch phrases!!!
…that’s right my love!
But it is imperative to be Happy while doing “serious journalism endeavors”! 😉
And so…. HAPPY SUNDAY!! 🙂 😀 🙂
Morning 🙂
Can’t get rid of Happy Sunday!!
So no more Catch Phrases ? Now will only be Cat Faces ?
I have to highlight this phrase … and seriously high + light : “There erection itself wouldn’t be big enough” – Warren XD That dream of yours has many Freudian raw visions in it! Amazing stuff, can’t wait to see that Big Tower Erected!
Would love to see 3d printers related hobby labs, specially if backstagers get the 3d models and printer files so that we can modify them and print them.
The second method for the Avenger documentary would a lot more doable, but every day might be too much if the videos are very big… nothing bigger than 7 – 10 min would be feasable so that we can watch it every day and not end up watching the entire thing from begining to end… that would be an entire day O.o But in any case… is a MUST WATCH
Eighth! *SMACK!* Ow, Lloyd… uncool man, lol
Aw man, if only I could commute to Ireland from Australia each day, I’d sign up for that 40K job. Flights would be a taxable work expense yeah? lol
Don’t get rid of Happy Sunday!!! No, no, no!
Happy Sunday!
Dave’s Avenger build is something I’m really looking forward to, that guy is a genius.
I like the idea of a Relics series and maybe Guild Ball could get some more coverage.
Great show guys, I always enjoy looking at @warzan ‘s erections.
In the grimdark future there is only HAPPY SUNDAY!!
and war?
Not on Sundays. Too happy.
Warren, there was a moment there during your HUMONGOUS presentation of what you have been up to during your hobby week, that I thought you were going to break into a Jimmy Cricket catch phrase: ‘Come Here, There’s More!’
Happy Sunday! Keep the catch phrase
That is a great tower you’ve built there Warzan! It is reusable, you could run all sorts of “deathmatches” or “deathraces” on that table with that tower. it would probably also fit on a deadzone/warpath world as a really nice centrepiece in a city fight environment.
Have a happy gaming sunday!
Warren, Lloyd, question: you both expressed your lack of interest in anything Gundam, but most of the mech’s you were gushing over in John’s In Combat book are still from the Gundam universe. I’m just curious, is it the “classic” Gundam design itself that doesn’t interest you or is it a case of “Pfft, it’s anime.”
(And that’s not a knock, as an anime fan I fully appreciate a lot of my friends and family get a glazed over look when I start talking about it…)
I might suggest if you want something less “super-robot” track down Gundam: The 08th MS Team, a fantastic mini series that adds some reality to the Gundam universe…..
I LOVE 8th MS. It has a vietnam/pacific feel to it. And lots of opportunities to let your imagination fill in the blanks on how you could weather a model from the series. And yes, very much the anti “super robot” feel.
I love how the first time they run up against a traditional Gundam-style “ace” character they pretty much get their ass handed to them, and how an irregular force of infantry might fight a squad of mechs in close-quarters 🙂
It’s funny though as the classic Gundam silhouette has become what a lot of people would think of when you say the words “super robot” but it was intended, much like Macross, as the alternative to the over-powered mecha that had become a somewhat stale genre by the late 70’s in Japan – the likes of Mazinger-Z and what would become the Super Sayin shows. Macross took the approach of making it all about the pilots – Hikaru, Max and Roy (for example) would not be out of place in a traditional film or series about fighter pilots, their jets just happen to transform into rather rad-looking robots. Gundam meanwhile made it about the evolution of man & machine, hence the traditional “Gundam-creep” where the pilots main suit normally ends up destroyed/ damaged/ stolen around the midway point so a spiffier replacement can show up, and most of the various Gundam shows have tried to tie things into human evolution & genetic engineering. Admittedly with a spectacular lack of subtlety (see- Gundam SEED…), but given they were designed to market toys & model kits theirs a surprising amount of sophistication there.
Also, has Warren seen the sort of after-market Gun-Pla upgrade kits that are out there? I suspect if he hasn’t he might lose his **** given the sorts of parts you can find 😀
Some of the after market parts are freaking awesome.
YOU CAN NOT BE SERIOUS!!!!………………. You can’t get rid of “Happy Sunday” they’ll have to cancel Sundays. This would not acceptable…….so, No!!!
Keep up the great work.
Would not BE acceptable…..to be clear! That’s how distressed I am. I can’t even string a sentence together!!
Happy Sunday!
FIRST!!!!!
Well done done to all three of you for managing to keep almost straight faces while Warren was waxing lyrical about his dreams of towering erections and stuff shooting off into space
…must have been watching ‘carry on’ movies. Happy Sunday!
Warren. You weren’t watching Space seed recently were you?
Really not sure about Warren’s 40k plans..
Feels like an evil scheme to drag me back into the abyss.
I’ve got tons of unpacked Imperial Guard stuff in the garage but this will probably result in me throwing yet more money at GW. Aaaaargh.
First of all get the stuff in boxes done, and if it gives you the GW itch (damn that sounds like an std lol) again, then dive on in 😛
For one glorious split second I thought you were planning some Relic Knights content. Have you considered doing some Relic Knights content? :p
I’d be down for that. Might encourage me to get some of my stuff from the RK KS assembled….
Here’s my Noh painting thread. @dawfydd, to give you some encouragement 🙂
http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/painting/forum/topic/hounds-of-nozuki/
@redben keep watching you might see an item or two on Relic Knights soon. 😉
I love happy sunday! It’s like a secret handshake for the community!
Separate the game from the company: It’s true, I love 40k and Malifaux, but don’t really have much love for the companies. Bad experiences as volunteer and retailer. But as a gamer, it’s a different story. Good point, Warren.
Another great Weekender XLBS best way to start my day.
Happy Sunday! (It should remain)
As much as i am disillusioned with a lot of what GW do, I still love the models, indeed, I am really waiting a bit impatiently for when Forgeworld get around to my Blood Angels in the Heresy series. I may not play much any more (and tend to steer towards 2nd edition when I do) but I’ll be an avid watcher of the 40K series.
PS. not first.
I think the TAG arena could use a video board like they have in sports stadiums. You could mount a smart phone or small tablet in a similar way you did the LEDs. If you want to get really fancy you could film “Instant Replays” of the actual match and have them play on the screen. Hard to argue with LoS calls if the soldier cam video plays on the screen for everyone to see!
Maybe you could install some small speakers and give the stadium a PA system. You could have it play sound effects or commercials for the sponsors. Maybe have someone do the match commentary.
I love the new player guys, this is the first Weekender XLBS that I didn’t have to download and watch, good work gents.
Have to agree, the new player is much better.
I’d like to say when I proposed my idea for 4ground to build a giant arena yesterday there was no way I could have seen this episode. I’m apparently on the same wavelength as Warzan at the moment
I love watching the enthusiasm and joy you guys get out of your work/hobby/play, I find myself smiling and enjoying my own hobby’s to. I hope you keep the Happy Sunday catch phrase, as it is a happy Sunday when I get to relax and watch Beasts Of War.
Great show 😉
Whilst I appreciate it would be less work for you, I’m not sure I want to watch 30 episodes of Dave building the ship. Also, well-deserved and long overdue shout-out to Dusty Bin!
Warhammer 40k is for many of us the reason we got into the hobby – I’m really pleased there’ll be a bit more exploration of it.
Love the Universe and most of the game, but I know there’s a lot of challenges. I’ve now listened to the monologues of several shopkeepers who used to stock the hobby, but found the relationship with GW too challenging. To me that’s disappointing – I grew up building my first armies from these kind of retailers.
For us in NZ, the odd international pricing strategy sees us spending 50%-100% more (even with exchange rates) for the same model. I knew many people who used to buy every 3-6 months from abroad and have it shipped because it was considerably cheaper due to the markup, but that loophole has now been closed.
So that tends to leave me only buying occasional items, or more often trawling through ebay looking to buy from people who’re leaving the hobby.
But here’s the odd thing – Games Workshop don’t get any money from me when I buy second hand models. But I actually WANT to be buying their models, and supporting them as a company, but just not at the inflated NZ/international rates. And I certainly don’t want to see potential opponents in my area giving up on the hobby and selling up, even if it does mean a few cheap models.
I realise Games Workshop have a tough time – their product has been around almost 30 years – there is a lot of second hand armies changing hands out there, but they don’t support the company financially. They need to keep developing new models, and sometimes new rules to push the new models to keep going (otherwise we lose our hobby).
But in some ways the price is a good thing – it has us all looking at other systems, and other cheaper alternatives over “building ANOTHER Warhammer 40k army”.
Happy Sunday must stay.
New player works well on my iPad Air using chrome as the browser.
40k coverage sounds good. Good luck in finding a suitable person for the job.
Happy Sunday, I loved the statement from Warren of how he felt it was too much 80’s and felt it was detracting from a serious wargaming/hobby show only to later see Lloyd highlight your towers erection gestures with a huge smile on his face suggesting other connotations. Please keep the catchphrase guys after all we want to be entertained and feel part of the show and no doubt there will be community members that say Happy Sunday to the screen as they watch the show every week.
I find it interesting to hear about the potential 40k content and look forward to seeing what you decide to do with it. I am one of those who as time has gone by fell out with 40k and am only now coming back to give it another chance. I love wargaming for the rich environments, the backgrounds, the stories and the imagination involved. GW has this in spades and with Black Library a key part of their industry this will only continue to grow.
@warzan with those LED lights on the tower it would be great to see a studio lights out video of the whole thing when finished during the Infinity week. With only the LED’s on in the room and the TAG models on the table it will look great and the white tower should stand out for it colour choice.. All you need now is to attach some neon like signs for the corporate sponsors 🙂
I think the Avenger project would be great as a daily content piece. It is such an amazing model piece and deserves the air time and it will help give everyone a true appreciation of what was involved. It looks complex as it is but I bet there is so much more that we don’t know about the process and the difficulties that came up.
Great show guys
Wow Warren What a cool tower and idea, deathtags rules!, now i want to Play battletech again, also last week talked to a friend about it, maybe this is fate? Look gw to ser bootcamp and this amazing board.
All you guys funiest episode long time ago.
Well done!! And happy week of gaming i’ll gonna start with wolsung, muskets and tomahawks or by fire and sword dont know What to chose and enjoy.
Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday should stay around as long as there are Sundays.
I actually don’t like the idea of you getting a laser cutter / 3d printer. I think your hobby time works best when you are showing how you can scavenge your models/pieces.
I imagine if you have that kind of kit there’d be a lot less (for me) feeling of “oh, I can do this”.
Would you still feel that way if you have a ‘maker cafe’ type thing in your town?
We’re kinda looking at the next phase of this kit, where you ‘should’ have access pretty close to home 🙂
(And well always be building stuff out of junk 😉 so don’t worry!)
That does make a difference. Why not do a whole approach of “how to use a maker cafe”? Heck, even “should I scavenge or custom build?”. You touch a bit on this during the ep with “custom light pack from Mapplin for $20 or $4 Christmas lights?”. 😉
I would say that almost every wargames company has a laser cutter these days even if its just to make bases to sell or engrave various tokens/markers. It does seem to be an essential bit of kit these days
I like lots of games, I can’t play all of them but I can focus on a few I really like alongside 40k which is where the local community is at but I still get to play batman and others only issue of this hobby is cost so can’t have all so focus on what a you like and b what’s played locally
Don’t get rid of Happy Sunday! I look forward to it!
@warzan Don’t let the others dissuade you! That tower is EPIC. May have to steal the idea for myself actually, got a big box of unused mantic scenery sitting next to me as I type…
Absolutely buzzing about getting to the Infinity Bootcamp now!
Not biggest fan of 40k, atleast the rules and alot of the minis but I think it is important for BoW to cover it as many people do love it still. i could not agree more with that sentiment, plus it will grow the community hugely!
The new KoW series is well timed, I’m just putting together my first KoW army, a force of Ogres all on diorama bases. I’ll have to find this thread and share what I’ve done.
Happy Sunday
i think a tag championship 6 part battle report show would be cool, as you could move it all to different boards just think of warrens tower erected out of a forest area some camera drown shots of the action, the play by play done as an over excited annuser with per game tag run down
is it just me or did everyone think of the heavy gear tv show with all the talk of a tag arena
Mash so Metal!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Some
Looking forward to ‘The Avenger Assesmbled’ series 😉
What a blast of a show, can’t choose where to start 😉 I had a fast look over the awesome book from Mig Jimenez and I have to admit those techniques he’s showing look just amazing.
Dave did a cracking job with the Avenger. I’d love to see a day by day wip article series.
Started my hobby with GW in the early 90s, there are a lot of miniatures – yes a decent amount of them still unpainted – I own. I also still love the 40k setting, so not to play with them is no option for me. I’ll highly appreciate your attempt to bring back some fresh breeze to this part of my tabletop and hope to manage to build 2-3 of those maps for my gaming table.
Mentioning maps, Warrens TAG arena tabel reminds me of one of those Titanfall Maps with the almost white huge structures … hmm can’t remember the name. But I’m sure the table will look just amazing when it’s finished.
Cheers and Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday folks!
And, yes the catchphrase stays!!
For me every popular game system deserves coverage. As said, focus on the game not the company, and you never know, you might actually enjoy it! 🙂
Like the idea of a Relics series having picked it up earlier this year
HAPPY SUNDAY !!!!
like the idea of a month of huge star ship post !
i would like to see some more of john’s mech’s , i wonder if he likes the robo tech game too ?
warzan go big or go home lol
Come on Guys what about the Batman Miniatures Game.
I really want to see a proper demo game of it and a week dedicated to it…
Only you guys can do this game Justice…. True Story
Happy Sunday!! I for one refuse to give it up 😉
Great show you’ve got me wondering how to convince my mates we need a laser cutter now.
That ship is an absolute beast. I am constantly amazed at the skill of people who can scratch build like this – proper amazing job!
thoroughly enjoyed the show, it was great to see the passion and excitement of the guys and their projects!
Happy Sunday guys. It’s 30K and Infinity for me so I would love to see some more coverage from you guys. I’m pausing halfway through the watch but @warzan – please tell me where you got that 28mm flyer from at 47 mins.
I was a huge 40k player, loved the product the whole 9 yards. What turned me completely off is the GW attitude that has been cultivated. Basically if you didn’t use only GW products you couldn’t play 40k. This attitude has been encountered more and more and now I’m to the point that I’ve had enough! I have completely dropped all 40k and their product range.
Happy Sunday!
Although watching this in firefox the video kept stopping every few minutes. It wasn’t like it hadn’t buffered – it was like I’d just hit pause by accident, as all I had to do was just click where the play button was to restart it. Still annoying to do so frequently though.
@warzan that’s how I feel about 40K too. I’ve grown up with the story and love the setting. Oddly though, I don’t think Horus Heresy is the way in. Partly because it’s 30K and not 40K, and the two are different, although related settings. And partly because 30K is best appreciated as a tragic distopian, what might have been alternative to 40K. Part of it’s strength is knowing how it contrasts with 40K. The long vanished hope vs. the drim dark…
As for the novels, i think they’re really, really variable. Some (most of Dan Abnett’s) are really good reads. Some (most of Ben Counter’s) are just awful. Although that said, people still seem to like them so as long as there’s a market they can (and should) keep printing them.
I had the same issue like you @angelicdespot but with Safari. Switched over to Firefox and had no problems watching it. Strange! May be it has to do something with plugins?
My player had some wonky pauses too that weren’t buffering either. I was watching through IE on xbox1. It just stopped. I hit pause button, it changed to a play button, which I then clicked and it started immediately.
Yep, that’s what was happening for me.
Happy sunday, forever and ever and ever…
No way can you get rid of ‘Happy Sunday’.
Shame on you Warzan.
dont change it!!!!!!!!! keep it !!!!!! Happy Sunday !!!!!!!
When Warren was talking about his “erection” penetrating the sky I totally buckled.
I’ve taken the plunge on 3d printing so I’d love some hobby based stuff being available!
“Happy Sunday”. I thought we were being knowingly ironic.
Is it just me or is Warren having ‘frustration’ issues? All I got was a huge pirate erection penetrating………
New player is working well btw!
@warzan
I’d love to see you guys muck about with laser cutter/3d printer.
You’ll also find loads of useful things you can make cheap when you have the ability to cut it out of 3mm mdf
Victoria and I have just sat through what was to us the best XLBS weekender, awesome just reminds me of my best bud and me a while back when we would build 15ft by 4ft gaming tables with a beach assault on a three foot cliff with working lift sections a radar sci-fi building on top and then an entire city complex way back. the smallest thing we ever built was a 6 by 4 cathedral with gothic arches etc. needles to say the idea of the big build over a month would just be so cool. scrap more running orders and have 1 show a month blagging it big hobby style.
They can take our mini’s,
They can take our dice,
But they can NEVER take our “HAPPY SUNDAYS!!”
@warzan mate don’t forget that your tower can be re-purposed for the deadzone bootcamp!! (if you do one that is)
Right ppl we need to save our Happy Sunday
Id like to see a series for modern gaming e.g. Skirmish Sangin, Spectre minis or even the new Black ops book by Osprey.
That’s a great idea @grimwolfuk
In fact, it would be a brilliant series running through the different modern games. Each episode they could review and play a game with a different set of rules, but all modern skirmish systems.
Regarding the dropzone content, why not do Avenger August!!
Happy Happy Happy Sunday must stay can’t live without it 🙂
ive got a sneaking suspicion that Warren is at home right now making white towers out of mash potato and screaming i saw it in a dream!
Getting the reference. Although that turned out to be some weird alien synth concert.
Happy Sunday!
85th there Lloyd take th#* SMACK dude that hurt. LOL:-) . love the show and I dislike GW but 40k, love it way to much I have 9 armies, and counting. I’ve been in it since rouge trader in 85. Its more of an addiction now.:-( Warren, love the TAG thing its awesome looking. Crap have to go, please keep the happy Sunday thing. Have a great day you’ll , Pepsidan :-).
Crap 88 sorry 🙂
lol – but I’m your FIRST replay 🙂
Hay @lloyd thanks see you’ll later in the week. 🙂
@warzan:
Why not make a game designer challenge with the goal to create a 28-35mm Mecha Combat Arena Game?
The only other game out there that I’m aware of is Heavy Gear Arena which is 10-15mm.
You could re-use your arena as playtest playground 🙂
What can I say that hasn’t been said by everyone here, but thanks again for an excellent XLBS and keep up the good work.
If I can put my two cents in, “Happy Sunday” is your trademark for the show have to keep it. As for your references to your mighty erected tower I was just laughing thinking boys and their toys. I have never played 40k but all our kids do, so I might have to give it a go. I would love to tackle a series on modern combat games, see how they compare to real world.
Happy Sunday to one and all!
Use Dreadball minis for Owners and cheerleaders in the TAG death Match!!! Hell even the prisoners could be used for some of the more extreme fans 🙂
This is a genius idea. Not sure where the cheerleaders would go. Or indeed if @warzan will admit to his wife there were cheerleaders in his dream.
Great show. 🙂
Please tell me i’m not the only one that thought. “Avenger Assembled” as the name for the build series..?
Lol
I still imagine the Hulk, Thor and Iron Man in Ikea when I see that phrase.
😀
So who will be the first to have a give-away download game with scenery, figures, cards and rules?
I will try to be the first to download
How about a weekend away, to play with your cad/cam toys?
After a workday in the factory, it’s nice to come home and relax with the XLBS.
Happy Sunday to all!
I’d love a job as a 40k presenter. I even live in Belfast…. But… I’m not too confident.
Why not grab a camera and a friend and start recording your games and the hobby stuff you do. Everyone is uncertain when they start. The more you put yourself in front of the camera, the more comfortable you’ll feel. This is something I have done with my teen son, and outside of wargames it has helped him do talks and debates on history when needed.
Also @toxicvex people like authenticity. If you can appear to be yourself in front of the camera, even if you’re shy, it doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t do a good job of it. @testsheepnz has some good advice!
The new player doesn’t seem to allow fullscreen when viewing on xbox one.
HAPPY SUUUUUUUNDAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’d say the people have spoken. Happy Sunday stays!
There are two reasons I buy miniatures and the first and most important do I think the models look great and the second is the fluff that surrounds the game. I love Malifaux (you should do a series on it) because of the world they have built and the many stories they have about the characters, etc.
I’ve never played 40k (or 30k for that matter) but I’ve recently started buying the adeptus mechanicus models as I think they are fantastic. It might take me a while to build an army but I don’t care. The world and fluff surrounding 40k (and 30k) is very well developed and that is a draw to explore the world but it wasn’t quite enough for me to buy models until recently. I do get tired of reading peoples gripes about the price (I think we all know they are more expensive) and the people calling others chumps for supporting 40k. I think those people should just not comment and let others enjoy what they want.
I’m glad you guys mentioned how great the first 4ish heresy books are. They were tremendous and we’re good to the point that I was going to start recommending series to non-40k types. But then the series jumped onto a treadmill and went almost nowhere (good for GW that books are a huge hit but I quit after 13 or so books and we still weren’t anywhere near a battle for terra).
@stkelly82 – 30+ books in they’re still no nearer the battle for Terra!
I find the quality really variable. Some are really interesting and really advance the timeline or flesh out something we’ve not known much about before, in a really interesting way. Others are just filler.
Funnily enough, I thought the first three books are a good example of this. I loved the first, thought the second was pretty average (what I’d been expecting when I first decided to give GW novels a try again) and the third was pretty awful. Only because it was continuing a story and characters that had been built up by others did it seem better than it was.
Now, my tastes differ from other peoples’ but if you know what you like, it’s worth picking out some of the other books in the series, even if you don’t bother with the whole lot.
If my recommendations are anything to go by, here are the ones I think are the best:
Horus Rising, Legion, The First Heretic, Prospero Burns, Know No Fear and Betrayer.
I think Graham McNeil is very overrated and get more annoyed by his writing the more of it I read, but if you’re going to read Prospero Burns you ought to consider reading A Thousand Sons first. It’s not really part 1 of a 2 part mini-series, but both books were written at the same time-ish and are frequently considered together.
If John is going to paint Warren’s monstrous erection, I believe a paint sheme in white and orange would look great.
And with all those LED lights, a night game is mandatory.
40k player myself, I do not agree with how games workshop as a company is running things, especially their games. HOWEVER, I do enjoy the game, and I love the miniatures, they are beautifully sculpted, and make it really easy to modify them, and make them yours.
also, If you aren’t too concerned about the person being form the opposite side of the world, I would be willing to take on the part time role you were talking about @BOWwarren
happy Sunday guys
the Avenger’s videos will be brilliant the finished ship looks excellent.
So what film did you fall asleep watching @warzan ? Running Man or Starship Troopers 3 to get the tower idea?
the GW stuff will be good still love the books still planning to get a Knight in time?
HAPPY SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do not under any circumstances loose Happy Sunday please. It does make my Sunday happy and is a good start to a hobby day. Nothing better than a cheery welcome Sunday morning with my cuppa and a ciggie or two sat in my man cave looking at Warrens erection how wonderful 🙂
Warren I think it looks great and I don’t think your imagination knows any bounds go for it and carry on being creative. Lloyd is only jealous and John doesn’t get it, no tanks. 🙂
with all the talk about laser cutters, you guys should check out thingiverse.com makerbot.com and there are a few other open sourced sites to share files for making these things
okay, I just want to say, this was my first day as a backstager, and this has been a gorram brilliant addition to my weekend watching, I am definitely going to keep on with backstage!
@wcfree Welcome to the funny farm, Where hilarity ensues and a ton of fun is had by all.
@pepsidan Already sounds like my kind of party!
Happy Sunday needs to stay guys!
The erected tower in the T.A.G. arena is a bit block-y, a bit ugly maybe and not quite large enough but it is still pretty dammed awesome!
I say no to end of happy Sunday! …and Happy Sunday BoW! I love idea of month with Dave build I vote for it if there is any voting. really nice episode Lloyd. Warren I like the idea of huge TV tower, this has men used In Manga before, maybe some anime too, It will be great for warpath as well or deadzone, but iven if its made from reusable parts I dont think that tere would be a much of rust, maybe a lot of chipping and some burn marks from weapon blast. cheers.
Rock on Warren!!! It’s very nice to see someone who’s excited about what they’re doing and willingly admits that they built the model big because it’s just so damn cool.
you could replace Happy Sunday! with Game Day baby!
either still works for me
Although I do love my Happy Sundays, I’ve been thinking… It’s not good to get complacent, and thinking about what Warren said, I really don’t like all those stupid TV catchphrases.
So perhaps it wouldn’t be a bad idea to retire it, or at least reign it in… Just bring it out on special occasions? (I mean, occasions even more special than a Sunday with an XLBS show.) We’d love it all the more if it wasn’t expected!
Happy Sunday! Please keep that, it is just a great way to start a show. Okay, my first comment/suggestion/challenge is to Lloyd. That Beastly Broadcast Tower(BBT, yes even as an american I understand the joke I tossed out there) that Warren has started is missing something, Satellite Dishes! Now if your bits and cans box is up to it, I think a satellite dish(es) made from a ramen bowl would be an epic addition to the BBT.
Next comment to Warren. Are you sure you haven’t been watching The Running Man? Communication tower in the middle of televised combat zone? Now Arnold is no TAG but there is a basic principle here. When you started talking coroporate sponsor logo I started thinking of that horrible cola from the movie. All you need is theme music and the solid gold dancers!
Yes it is serious Gaming Journalism Warren , but please keep “Happy Sunday”
Love to see a big project with a little bit of a “maker” machine involved. I actually think BoW would get more out of a laser cutter. Think of all the mdf and acrylic things Lloyd would come up with.
Warren’s tower reminds me of the movies Running Man and Fortress. 🙂
Warrens errection is stunning !
The other kids just tease him because theirs are small or average at best.
I think with a bit of TLC it will stand like champ of centerpiece.
Keep errecting mate !
Happy Sunday (even though it is Monday).
Happy Sunday should stay. Even if I only watch it on a Monday.
Happy Sunday! or rather Monday as I had playback issues yesterday…
Please make a kind of time-lapse build video on the Avenger if at all possible!
alright my loves happy sunday stays
finaly finished watching the XLBS.. happy Sunday has to stay.
I would like to thank you for another great show.
I used to work with a material called foamex which is expanded pvc, cheaper than MDF good strength and light, stronger than Foam-board and cheaper. you guys should look into it.
I like the tower looks great, you could remove LED’s from the circuit board and run wires from it to the LED’s where-ever you’ve decided to put them.
I like the thought of you guys running laser-cutting and 3d prototyping hobbylabs, I would actually back a fundraiser for that.
The Avenger article/blog/vlog thing, I’d prefer to see as much of the process as possible so daily articles rather than 6 edited articles.
were there any other questions/requests for opinions?
Great show again guys. The TAG arena is definitely in need of Lloyds banners. Team banners and sponsorship banners with possibly the odd health and safety poster (all our TAGs are fitted with special safety features. Please do not try this at home)
You all should take a look at the da Vinci Jr 3D printer. It’s fairly popular, and the plastic spools are DRMed, but for $350 you are just about at the cost of a new laser printer these days.
Happy Sunday!!
If you get rid of “Happy Sunday!” I won’t know what day it is and the rest of the week I’ll go around lost in a haze.
If happy sunday gets retired, it should be replaced with “dont even try it or i’ll smack ya!”
i have to say i really love the Monolith broadcasting tower, it’s going to look awesome when its painted white, you could add those street lamp add-ons from the mantic deadzone kits around the base above the first section with light effect painting for extra effect.
I would love to see the vids on making that most ship from drop zone commander it is pretty amazing 🙂
Great show guys 🙂
Happy Sunday forever !!!! (Well maybe merry Sunday at Christmas)
Freud would love you Warren, “Huuuge Pirate Erection!!!”
Lloyd on the subject of paintball, and John on the subject of tanks, here is one you boys might like
https://www.facebook.com/ArmourgeddonTankPaintballBattles?fref=ts
Keep up the good work boys
Happy Sunday should stay. It is a trademark for me just as much as John sitting for the first few minutes with a face expressing something more or less “Fantasy gibberish” “Where’s my tank?” “What to do next in WoT?” “Uuuu a Sherman!” 😀
Anyway, I must agree with the WH40K and GW stuff. I also must admit that I am sometimes taking part in all the “discussions”. I really like GW. They got me into the hobby. I have an unfinished Skaven army that I have been painting for more or less two years now. I love the fluff both of the WHFB and WH40K. I am an avid reader of the Horus Heresy series. However, I am dissapointed with the way they evolved when it comes to marketing. Sometimes you just have to release some preassure by writing “omg it costs so much it must be uranium enhanced” instead of hitting the roof. Yet, I do not tolerate being rude to others just because they play something. Just as you said guys.
If you guys get rid of HAPPY SUNDAY you might as well close the whole site down…… 🙂
John as a fellow scale modeller I am quite stunned that you do not know the name behind MIG, he is Miguel Jimenez affectionately known as Mig, only one of the most prolific scale modellers out there and a man with such great vision and passion for scale modelling.
In fact if you ever get the opportunity to get him on the show that would be an incredible show…… His first company was obviously MIG productions, which he left due to his divorce with his wife who had the controlling shares in that company, he then was the mastermind behind AK Interactive and all those initial products in that company was developed by Mig and then finally at about the beginning of 2014 he then launched his new company AMMO by Mig Jimenez, absolutely awesome range and he just keeps coming up with new items, he even has a book on painting armour specifically for wargames, http://www.migjimenez.com/en/
if this 40k position is still available in say 12 months id take you up on it, got to finish my degree first 😛
