Happy summer Sunday!!
That Sunday feeling when you know you have a fresh XLBS to watch!
For Team Yankee it would be cool to bring in some small NATO forces, Belgium, france… How about Iceland!
What i’m looking forward to in Team Yankee is a British Faction, Harrier support is a must. Low Flying Tornado GR1’s would also be cool.
Harriers! Yes please! Still my favourite “modern” aeroplane.
@dignity warmachine stater looking good mate. How about a Hordes faction, Circle maybe – gambling apart 😉
na i likes my steam powered death machines 😉
@warzon how about using FB the week BoW is down?
@warzan
Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday.
How about seeing the cold war turned hot go colder, and taken to Scandinavia, tanks bursting through snow drifts, mountain troops on skis. So much chilly hobby goodness.
Team Yankee British, oh yes – is it Christmas yet, lol
Happy Sunday !!!!!!
Holy intro’s Batman.
things i want to see for Team Yankee lest see i will like to see what can be put in a French army they have some ugly looking tanks , but then they have the Pluton.. that may be the dooms day tank
For Team Yankee it has to be British, British and more British. As an ex tank commander I’d love to roll Chieftains and Challengers across Europe. Also a Berlin force in their urban colours would look amazing on the table top!
I second and third that mate…. Oh yes! 🙂
Happy Sunday!
That’s a nice looking Chieftain kit. I’m holding out for the BAOR so I’ll probably pass on the W Germans and round off my Soviet force until the BAOR are released later this year.
For those interested in seeing what ‘wargaming life’ was like before GW, then look for material published by Donald Featherstone, Bruce Quarrie, Terrence Wise, Charles Grant, Arthur Taylor, Gavin and Bernard Lyall and Bruce Rea-Taylor. These were the greats of their day, whom, quite likely the likes of Phil Yates and Rick Priestley drew inspiration from to create their own ‘flavours’ of wargame! Happy Sunday, Enjoy!
Happy Sunday to all!
It’s time for some Weekender! Yeah, give me some! ^_^
XLBS makes me as happy as a dung beetle following a herd of mammoths.
Good God I remember playing and being active with Warhammer Panzer Battles and I still think I have the files somewhere too.
What I would love to see next for Team Yankee is the French, the AMX13 is such a groovy looking tank thats so SciFi and also the Chinese too
While I’m rooting for East Germans, the Frenchies should be good fun too!!!!!!
Happy Sunday!
As a G.O.G (Grumpy Older Gamer), I completely agree about the difficulty of getting into gaming during the late 70’s and early 80’s. Even in the UK waiting for a month or 2 for an order to arrive was common place! Choice was limited by the few manufacturers out there, but prices were, or seemed more reasonable, my first complete historical army cost £24.95 for 150 figures! I am glad that things have become much easier since then though, although my wallet doesn’t! 🙂
For Team Yankee I’d like to see East Germans at some stage.
And later on -dare I say it- the French. Then we’d have all the main combattants for a WW3 scenario in Germany.
Problem with the Warzaw Pact nations is that they all used similar Soviet kit but even smaller releases like country specific infantry or the release of older Soviet stuff could keep this game very interesting for a long time to come 😎

Am I missing something? Tried to edit my original post but couldn’t find any way to edit it, so deleted it from my profile, but its still here?
XLBS Weekender! Hello Team WJB. 🙂
That Infinity trailer for Operation Red Veil has got me so excited about the upcominf Infinity week. Moments like these make me love being a member of this great Beasts of War community. The Yu Jing and Haqqislam miniatures are just..just…words can not describe how awesome! 😀
Great to see Ben has hobbied hard on his Silver Tower minis, they are going to look great on the table. I need to get my own tabletop minis painted – looking at you Zombicide Black Plague…
Lloyd is the Dust King. I like the concept of Dust Warfare over Dust Tactics but I think Dust Tactics is definitely more entrance level wargamer friendly. Ah, if I were but a millionaire I would buy Beasts of War all the Dust Premium miniatures and see if Lloyd would grace me with the pleasure of a few demo games.
Holy Moly doesn’t the goblins for Labyrinth bring back memories. Especially love the wee armoured MG goblin and the goblin knight, but they are all brilliant.
What would I like to see for Team Yankee? Well the Brits as Mr Yates was kind of enough to show us is of course something we all want to see. That Chieftain sprue looks nice!
But myself, I would love to see the Israeli’s. Yes I know half their stuff is American but imagine having Merkava Main Battle Tanks, Namer APCs, and Soltam M-71 Howitzer’s. Epic! Plus side is you can use half the American gear too!
Have a great week lads.
For Team Yankee, we need Norwegians! The border between the Soviet Union and Norway was a hotspot during the Cold War. And we would get snow scenery too. And probably US Marines, come to think of it.
And Sweden as well
Future Team Yankee? Brits, Brits, Brits, Brits, Brits, Brits, Brits, Brits, &c.
Away from Brits, other theatres.
Made this comment before Phil said the British are coming. So other theatres, then. Middle East, Afghanistan, Arctic combat?
Happy Sunday!
I doubt it, but will anyone ask Phil Yates about why Battlefront – maybe it’s the UK – have such poor customer service?
Great name check for Norman Featherstone. We all owe a lot to the guy, a genuine godfather of modern day wargaming.
Airfix and early rules – while a child living on bases in W Germany in the 70s wih the soundtrack of Lightnings, Phantoms and Harriers… flashback.
That’s what I’d like to see btw in Team Yankee – Lightnings, Phantoms and Harriers and some complementary rules for air-air, air-ground and ground-air!
Unrelated to Team Yankee: Justin’s filthy swans look superb. I know you said they’re WIP but the caster is already beyond tabletop, the Jacks not so far behind. Nice work, man!
thanks dude its really that i need to give the lot a good clean up and pick ut some extra details on the jacks 🙂
Certainly makes me look in shame at the horde of Cygnar that’s been sat unpainted on my painting table for a couple of years now….
I’d like to see the U.S. Navy in Team Yankee! Let’s get some F-14 and Harrier action going on! @warzan you can be my wingman anytime!
Happy Weekend!
I’d like to see the GDR NVA in Team Yankee – for some german cold war action..
Great show guys!
I would like to see Australian & New Zealand forces for Team Yankee.
I know that we (Austrlia & New Zealand) never had a big post WW2 presence in Europe, but if Team Yankee was the kick-off point for Europe, I guarantee that it would have had a ripple effect through south-east asia, and the pacific to varying degrees. Also at that point in time, if Britain or the USA were going to have a dust-up, then usually Australian (and some of the New Zealand forces) were ddragged in due to certain policies of that era.
Happy Sunday! Great show as always… Team Yankee looks the goods! As for future releases it would be great to see the ANZACs hit the tables. Always there to help out their mates could be a really tough force, especially with Recon and Special Forces!
I think with the game and setting being what it is you need some infantry geared with anti tank from that era such as the US with M47 Dragon, Russian AT-7 Saxhorn, German Milan etc
Looking forward to the British force, but also interested in a middle eastern force like Israel
wow having Phil Yates interview is so great, I hope you shoot more and in depth interview too, about warmachine, I am so dissapointed with PP – they so screed over European players. I am really annoyed I hope they will straight things out very soon,
@warzan evolution can be observed over a very short period of time, genetic drift being a mechanism.Good example is the mosquito population in the London underground. My guess is the surviving catfish just through plain luck were in some way better suited to survive and that gene was passed on. But I am not an authority in this, just a humble student! Happy Sunday! Thanks guys!
Is it wrong that I want Team Yankee to release F15s so I can paint up a set as the Decepticon planes?
If it’s wrong to want the seekers in team yankee, I’m not sure i want to be right…
I’m sure it’d drive historical purists nuts, but I REALLY want to do a full Gen 1 Team Yankee force. Blitzwing tanks, Hound jeeps, Roadbuster humvee and my general converted to carry a silver walther p38! 🙂
Would like to see the British range incorporate the Recce capability with CVRT variants and maybe some rapier anti-air, and we really should have the TOW fitted Lynx AH7. No point producing the AFV432 and variants as most would break down within 5km of the back gate! I accept that the newer Warrior based running gear Bulldog were more reliable.
team yankee brits are coming who needs more ……i do……. id like to see paratroopers ……special ops teams …..spetznaz ……naval units …..nukes…..more tanks …..more aircraft …..more helicopters ….ufos……aliens …….captain america (and chums)……..frodo…….a miniature warrren general standing in a m551 swinging numbchucks around his head …….mamoths……..and rpg firing bearded goblins that look like justin in a commisars hat riding a chicken……well thats the short list for team yankee ………please 🙂
Justin has a beard again. This is indeed a good sunday!
I’d like to see a civilian resistance in team yankee.
No idea how you’d balance them but WOLVERIIIIIINES!
For Team Yankee I would like to see Brits and with them being announced, the French would be nice to.
I can’t wait for konflikt 47.
Warran I like your story telling, it is always very interesting.
I am definitely getting halo ground command.
happy sunday!
New faction: Israel
I think the Chinese would need doing at point for TY. So many options to fight in new theatres with them available
looking forward to the British coming to Team Yankee as I can then play as myself as a rifleman vs the 4th Russian Shock Army
On the grid thing. There are plenty of times systems out there at the moment that use hex or square grids for gaming. They have been around for a number of years. Plenty of traditional tape measure games like DBM etc have been converted to hex systems to help speed up play
@warzan , for the downtime I’d suggest setting up a discord server, It’ll basically act as the chat-rooms do now, were you can have various text channels but it’ll also give the option to make noises at each other with our mouth meats. Best part is it’s not hosted by you, its on centralized servers, and it’s free, Or you can go old school and set up an IRC chat.
Happy Sunday!!!
Just to add where gaming started
https://youtu.be/RxwMB7DtI3s
i would like to see Yugoslavian army for team yankee
Would love to see the British in Team Yankee.
Happy Happy Sunday… what an interesting show, and very amusing when @dignity was shocked that Phil said he had not played 40K, guess what neither have I, there are those of us out here that never played that….hahaha
It also brought back memories of even in the 90’s i was sending off for mini catalogues through the post so it is not that long ago where if you wanted anything other than that you had to send off for it mail order…. that said its so much better these days:-)
I wonder if you can still pay for stuff by postal order and if you sent a figure company 3 first class stamps would they send you a catalogue
Would love to win Tanks, enjoyed the quick go of it I had at Salute
Happy Sunday 🙂
That Cheiften is looking awesome!!! Challenger was just coming into service about now so looking forward to that. Was first issued to the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, my local regiment. Who then used it to devastating effect in 91.
Sorry mate, first challenges issued to the The Royal Hussars in fallingbostel Germany.
Geezz Bluesun, not heard from you in ages! I will have some spare time to continue the Chieftain model soon 😉
Hi John, didn’t want to put you on the spot for the BATUS Chieftain!…..
Sorry… Double post, John, loving the cam’o work you’ve done on the German stuff…. really good mate.
Team Yankee – the British are coming! How about some British helicopters? Lynx, Puma etc. Also like the idea of a NATO faction where you could have a combined force from different countries, then an opposing Red Block.
Happy sunday!
I think it would be time to show some east German love from Team Yankee.
Hordes of T-64 and T-62 tanks supported by some pre-cold war machines.
Happy Sunday everyone, Just about to get into Team Yankee and looking forward to it.
thanks to Phil for a trip down memory lane of war gaming in the pre Internet era. Can remember well waiting the writing my orders by hand, posting and waiting 28 days for delivery of exiting 1/300 scale Heroic & Ros tanks, which I still have.
The Chieftan looks great. May be enough to get me into Team Yankee.
But in terms of Team Yankee there’s honestly not much I can think of, although I enjoyed the game a lot it’s kind of died for me since no one plays it. I would like to see a nice big starter box with two armies in for a decent price, that’s should draw some new players in.
Well you’ve sneak peeked what I’m most looking forward to in Team Yankee, the Brits.
Happy day before independence day Sunday
Excellent stuff with Phil.
As for what I’d like to see in TY:
More Warsaw Pact forces, both different Soviet hardware (lower-tech and higher-tech) and forces for the other Pact countries.
Happy Sunday.
Happy Sunday! A complete Sunday just needs the weekender 🙂
About Team Yankee:
Not so sure what is missing. As I served in the German Navy, of course a naval component would be amazing one day. But then I can’t see how that could work.
So for now I think after the British it would be great to bring some additional stuff for the existing factions. And perhaps a campaign book (not sure if this already exists)
hi all,
Would like to see a faction join the Russians maybe east German units or some volunteer units from china or North Korea.
For some reason even unknown to me I tend to gravitate towards arab/islamic cultures when it comes to wargames. So for Team Yankee I would be interested to see some Arab or North-African militias. It could be the North African campaign all over again, but with more modern equipment. Or maybe a fight over the oil fields in Saudi Arabia. The local militias might join in with whatever power would suit their own needs best at the moment.
@warzan You do know the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were changed to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles due to TV censorship? The word ‘ninja’ was deemed to be too aggressive.
Tanks has hit the local gaming scene in a big way, and the free preview copy of Leopard that the FLGS received has some people chattering as well. It could be a big summer for Batltefront/GF9 in thes parts.
Happy Sunday! TANK, TANK, TANK!! The perfect game to play while waiting for World of Tanks to load. Cheers
Need the Brits to take on the soviets in team yankee
7/20 is the ship date for Halo Ground Command.
I’d like to see more different infantry in Team Yankee, special forces like Speznaz, Green Barets. Why not also USMC, paras etc.
Some dogfighting would be cool in Team Yankee with Tomcats and MIGs. I feel the need for speed!
Regarding Team Yankee, I’m hoping to see some of the Scandanavian forces. As the war heat up, these forces would inevitably get sucked into battle.
You can build a Danish force with M113s and Leos
For Team Yankee I would like to see some engineering vehicles, maybe something like the M60 AVLB or the FV180. They might provide some interesting options if they could cross impassible terrain where its not expected or maybe fix damaged vehicles nearby.
always love watching the weekender XLBS and for team yankee I would love to see more aircrafts
HAPPY SUNDAY!!!…yeah would love to see harriers for the British and Wessex helicopters, I served in West Germany and Berlin during this time period so looking forward to what the British army is going to look like. I do hope that they make sure that the troops have proper scrimmed helmets ( and if warren reads this i mean the ones on the troops head not any other sort of scrimmed helmet)…Cant wait to see how they do the 58 pattern webbing and the good old SLR.
Well lets see Team Yankee Poles, East Germans, Brits, French. I really want to see some more support options across the board as well. Don’t get me wrong love the main Battle Tanks and some of the ones I’m most anticipating are the T-54. T-55, and T62’s for the Poles and East Germans.
Also Americans can we get an Apache!!!
For Team Yankee, I want to see the British.
“The British are coming.”
!
We’re getting Harriers, right? I’ve noticed that Tornados are being released for the West Germans, so it would be insane not to also release them for the British, but the Harriers are just so iconic that it would be madness not to release them. Maybe the Harriers could fit in the Helicopter (VTOL) slot?
would love to some from the neutral states in europe, like sweden in team yankee
would love to SEE some
Team Yankee: warshaw pact and satellite states (with T-54 and T-34/85), like Tscheslowakai and so on.
Next maybe: China and North Korea against US, South Korea and maybe India.
What a mess this would be.
Tanks for the great show!!
Ok, for team Yankee … I’d add the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk (Stealth Fighter) Low Observable / Stealth Strike Aircraft ..yea, when I was a teen, this one had an almost mystical/futuristic nuance to it.
Er.. and as a Canuck, anytime you can add the Avro Arrow .. that would be cool. lol
id like to see the option for high level bombers like the Vulcan now that was a sexy looking aircraft, likewise the Lynx which saw service for many years. the lynx may not be the most powerful helicopter but its special to me as i used to work on them and they are bloody fast. 120 knots (138MPH) at 10 feet thats an adrenaline rush.
Love, love, love Tanks. It’s similar to XWing in play. Easy for my 11yo to understand. Quick.
Team Yankee British! Harrier is a must in this expansion or a future box. Maybe a Scimitar and Stormer as well.
For future games, I would also like to see some amphibious vehicles or bridging tanks accessory packs to add some extra terrain elements. Examples M60 and LVTP-7.
Though list of things is endless
http://www.militaryfactory.com/armor/cold-war-vehicles.asp
Oh, and Warren my wife thinks you might have dropped some weight. Hope it is so!
Another great Sunday. Looking forward to the changes on Beast of war website!
Great video again thanks guys.
For yellow, Justin should get either the vallejo Extra Opaque or the GW base series version, they are made to one coat over anything, best yellow to use, then build highlights on top.
I think we need a new adversary for the West like China or maybe taking the conflict into the Middle East.
Whats been going on in the news this weeeeeek!
I have not yet played Team Yankee, but I imagine the Chinese should get involved at some point.
For Team Yankee I would like to see more general air elements. More ground attack and air to air action. Something along the lines of air to air fights that somehow determine who has air superiority thus making your air to ground more effective. If there is no winner in the air both sides have air to ground equally but if there is a winner that side has an advantage. This would also allow some ground to air units.
As far as the radiation adaptation I thought there was a theory about evolution also being done in short bursts due to sudden environmental changes. I cannot remember the referenc
I’d love to see Team Yankee get to Norway. Both the game in local stores, and in-game!
Team yankee, was going to say chieftan tank, then watched further on….. old love to see chinock helicopters to help write some epic scenarios.
For FoW tactical objective buildings, that give the army a buff. Maybe not nukes, but big SAM silos would be cool, free AA. Or maybe CIA safehouses, could just LED any building for this, gives maybe a leadership buff/de-buff. Or, just for the name, a United Nation Sattelite Communication Station, gives an inch or 2 more range to units. Could also do some smaller ammo cache, med-station, ummm tank RAC vans.
Happy Sunday all.
FoW* Team Yankee
I would also like to see some official lists / cards for more Warsaw Pact nations. Even if they only use the same equipment/variants as the Soviets.
And as for Africa / Middle East in Team Yankee, The Iran / Iraq War was happening, and the Soviets were still in Afghanistan in 1985. The escalation in Europe very well could have encouraged Israel, Egypt and the Saudis to join the fray.
Happy Sunday
I am excited for the Chinese PLA to be in Team yankee!!!! @dignity Selective breeding isn’t evolution, Justin is right here not Warren. If the selection pressure is massive and instantaneous then either everything will die or the few that remain will obviously already have had the mutation within their genome expressed that allows their survival. Chernobyl was long ago enough for one of those wolves with that gene expressed in their physiology to sire many offspring with such said trait. The long term evolution that you are talking about @warzan deals with species splitting into multiple species which is known as ‘basal radiation’ ..adaptation that you are thinking of is something that happens within an individuals life time and is usually in reference to behavioural changes or more legitmately an ‘adaptation’ simply refers to a morphological or physiological change bought about by evolution that allows a species to better cope with the stresses place upon it by its environment. Also Catfish being massive maybe because no one is fishing them and fish continue to grow their entire lives only that they slow down the rate of growth as they get older hence why cod are no longer as big as they used to be as adults within the fish stock are caught and eaten before they can grow to a proper size. Souce; I got a bad degree from a bad university on this subject.
I am so excited for the new team yankee expansion! Happy Sunday everyone!
Happy Sunday. Would love to see Soviet Yakovlev Yak-38 VTOL strike fighter. Loved the interview with Phil. His tutorial videos for flames of war really helped me get started with the game. As for Dust, the grid game is quicker and is a nice change when wanting to play a quick game with someone not as familiar with war gaming and eases them into the hobby instead of scaring them off with measuring and true line of sight rules.
Hi all
Thought of the Great British army /airforce on the tabletop sounds fantastic lol.
for Team Yankee i think ide like to see some terrain, but not just things like apartment blocks and other city buildings, but maybe items like makeshift military outposts/camps, ruined vehicles (military and civilian)
Also maybe some civilian resistance units as well, or simply just some themed objectives , (rather than just cardboard objective markers)
Great show guys really enjoyed it.
For TY, I would like to see the minor alliance members on each side, NATO and WP.
Or even Neutrals like Sweden, who have some fun tanks of their own
Team Yankee stuff looks great, adding it to the list of games to play
I’m a big fan of Eastern Europe history if we can see some of those countries covered Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and such.
I liked the video!
I enjoyed dust grid system and it stand but itself as a separate experience from a none grid system, it’s simplified things for a fun quick play at a small scale, where a none grid offer a different option to go big and play at the war game level for bigger and longer game. each can be used for its purpose I think.
Team Yankee : Brits–Kewl can not wait for Scorpions, Strikers, and Harriers, not to forget Lynx attack HELI’S
All I want to see from Team Yankee is just more people playing their games in my gaming area. Starter set for Tanks is a good start, hint hint. Justin nice work on the Cygnar battle box, but your were making me cringe sitting them that close to the table edge. Have a great week guys.
Tanks has exploded in my flgs. Pick up and play games seem to be the way to go at present.
I would like to see Team Yankee to expand to include the French and British. And then I’d like to see a “what-if” with the Chinese joining the fray.
Got to be the British for team Yankee but it would also be good to have some specialist tanks for all nations, bridge layers, recovery vehicles, mine clearance etc.
Engineering troops? 😉
Would like to see the Chinese and North Koreans in team yankee
Something from behind the Bamboo curtain next for Team Yankee
I would love to see the WW2 designed tanks that never got built, but would fit in with Team Yankee.
For Team Yankee I would like to see Britain too. Challenger tanks have always been a favorite tank of mine…The Chaffee too! And Harriers going vertical too…awesome!
Happy weekend and keep up those Weekenders coming…Much much appreciated!
I’d like to see expanding the current US and USSR ranges. The BTR APCs and BRDM armored cars for the Russians. The Bradley and LAV’s used by the USMC (always liked the LAVs for some reason.)
That time there were many minor conflicts. I would like to see rules and organization data for other countries. Even for almost war situations, like in aegean in 1987 or the 1996 with the Imia islands where Greece and Turkey avoided war the last minute. Or the Soviet – Afganistan war and many others.
Future Team Yankee release would have to be Royal Marine/Army Commando Brigade…105mm Light Artillery, Lynx Helicopters (Army Air Corp) and Argentian forces.
Now John and Justin, how do you not know who Donald Featherstone is. He’s a wargamers and military historian, who’s written several books on military history and war gaming. He also taught at Sandhurst the British Army Officer training establishment.
I just recently started playing WW2 historical games and I really love them. I always play as the Soviets, and I love their tanks. Battlegroup was the game that introduced me to historical games, and I’m pretty sure that tanks will be the game that will really pushed me all the way into playing more historical games.
What I would like to see in Team Yankee? Well, modern warfare has modern aspects. So, what about Electronic Warfare vehicles? Could have add some new aspect to the C3 (Command, Control, Communication) side of things with some simple rules. Reduction of command distance, for example.
Hmm, since the Brits have been “announced”, I guess I’d like to see the French. Individually, I’d like to see rules for a Blue Thunder type helicopter (remember. it’s the 80’s and a what-if game) or stealth fighters, maybe even fuel-air bomb rules.
Good show.
@wazan you could have a test card thing like they have for emergences or BBC use to have back when we only had 3/4 channels for the switch over?
Saw Phil at Tankfest last weekend. Nice to meet him
Team Yankee is looking great. I’ve always wanted a cool modern or recent tactical combat game. The West Germans are definitely the best. I’ve always loved the Leopard as a tank in real life. To have a cool 15mm scale mini of it would be awesome. Will be neat to see the USSR and some of its satellite republics (Czechoslovakia maybe? Kazakhstan?). Playing the battles that “could have been”, or, with today’s geopolitical atmosphere the battles that “could happen” will be very cool.
Super stoked for Tanks. I’ve been looking for a more streamlined way to introduce people to Historical settings.
I think the best thing that should come out for the brits are land rovers can be used in so many things.
great show folks.
i’d like to see some M880’s with huts in Team Yankee.. Commando armored cars too.
Happy Sunday!
Team Yankee: Harriers for sure!
Bring on the challenger 1’s, and the Lynx attack helicopter
Got have the British Scorpion, used to love these little guy’s when I used to play ‘moderns’ back in the day with Airfix models.
Well the Germans are already coming for Team Yankee so my vote is for the M60A3 as an alternative to the Abrams.
Tanks is a really fun fast game – play several games to date
Team Yankee – got to be East Germans
Great interview with Mr.Yates, I played FOW a number of years ago, I may pick up a copy of Team Yankee. I like to see the Chinese get involved in world War 3 I think that would be cool.
For team yankee, I haven’t read the book and I don’t know much about specific equipment, but as others have said, some kind of NATO force would be cool.
If the Brits are coming to team Yankee wonder if we will see any Argentinians in the future.
I love Tanks, and missed my opportunity to pick up the starter at Salute this year. Bad times.
Can we get some Red Alert style tesla tanks pretty please 😛
I kinda want Britain to be involved for some reason with team yankee
Great show guys! The one thing that I would like to see are reconnaissance platoons. For the US, this could include Jeep mounted TOWs. Otherwise, the Israelis would be cool.
TANKS! I’ve been trying to find this locally here in CA, US, but had no luck. LFGS owner passed on it as it wasn’t explained well to him, but has since regretted as a lot of people have asked for it (he has an active FoW community).
BTW, I don’t recommend storing the “flat pack” rocks long term “compressed”. Any foam product stored compressed is bad as the cells break down (think of how a sleeping bag is not to be stored “compressed”). This will be more so with this terrain as the paint will change the elasticity.
I’m kinda “meh” with Dust but am looking forward to Konflict, where I hope they have mech building rules like “Secrets of the 3rd Reich”.
I would love to see what range is being prepared for the British in Team Yankee and how they will play. I would love to see Harriers, the Charioteer and the Scorpion.
The Charioteer, because it just looks funny to see an angled turret and a hefty gun on top of a Cromwell body. By 1985 I’m sure we would have been ready for the invasion at the start of Team Yankee story and replaced the majority of these outdated tanks, but I like the corbelled together nature behind the tank and the implied desperate defence against Russian aggression, calling on anything available.
The Scorpion, because it looks cool, should be fast in game and tagged up with the Chieftain and the other tanks with serious punch should be a cool points filler. Talk of the heavy tanks not being everything in game, made me think about the Scorpion and hope there’s a place for recon vehicles in the tactics of the game.
The Harrier, because it was an innovation, the first airfix kit I every made and a hero of the Falklands. In game it should hold it’s own against most things I hope and would be a pleasure to build and paint one again.
I always enjoy the Infinity content so this week should be a cool time with Red Veil.
Expansions seem the flavour of the month. Konflict’47 and the Labyrinth expansion look very cool.
Great XLBS.
@dignity Your minis are looking great, very well done!
Tanks are so much fun but minis are so much better.
Happy Sunday and US Independence Day.
I don’t know if it would work but I’d like to see the modern Israeli Defense Force or the South African National Defense Force or maybe even some Jacked up PMC outfit.
Ugh, so late to post, but I so, SO want the Tanks pack giveaway. As for Team Yankee, strange as it might seem but I wouldn’t mind a French expansion pack. I realize France isn’t part of NATO, but I have a feeling in a cold war gone hot they couldn’t remain neutral for long, and honestly I know the least about 1980’s French armament and would really like to see what they could have brought to the table. Aside from that, I would like to see the USMC at some point (I adore the AAV, the Jawa sand crawler of the US Arsenal) and would like to see some of the armies of the Soviet Bloc as well.
I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the West German stuff for Team Yankee.
I’m hopeful to see some form of Australia and New Zealand representation in team yankee. What becomes of the British southern colonies. Oh and hand held nukes like in Starship Troopers.
ON a side note, whats the best way to ask John a question?
Watching Indiana Jones and the last crusade yesterday I got to the scene where in the desert they have the Nazis riding around in the tank.
What tank is that John? I dont know why but it didn’t look German to me. It looked out of place to be driven by Nazis for some reason.
It’s made up. It’s a bit of a MkVII (Late WW1) with a sort of Churchill/Valentine turret stuck on top. I think the designer just made one up that would fit the script
Once they’ve settled the European factions, I’d really like to see China and both Korea’s enter Team Yankee! I’ve had a blast playing the video game Wargame: Red Dragon with South Korea and their K1’s!
For Team Yankee some BMDs for Soviet Airborne or some Soviet Naval Infantry to take on the Danish.
For team Yankee I would like to see a themed list for the Polish. Or maybe not even a full list but some historical information and tip for modelling (tank marking etc. )
Firstly BoW down for a week!!!!! Maybe you could just use your YouTube account to still put out some update vids of how it’s all progressing ala VLog style..
For Team Yankee I would actually like it to head off to the desert.. More specifically I would like a desert storm expansion, Bradleys for the American forces, the battle of 73 Easting could make a mission especially after the documentary I watched with dug in T72s in pits… So yes that’s where I’d like Team Yankee to head… While we head that way some Apaches and some 15mm Blackhawks could go down well too… Maybe some covert infiltration missions as well..
happy sunday, xlbs makes my day, i was missing that. For Team Yankee i would love to see some eastern block countries specific units like czech and poland couls dbe transport or cavalery… or police forces..
I wou;ld like to see Team Yankee go back to the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, when tension was at its highest. this would give a nice mix of old WW2 kit and more upto date kit. There is a great book called Fires Of October which covers the planned invasion of Cuba in 1962.
For Team Yankee, I’d like to see the introduction of a line of co-branded G.I Joe vehicles where you can add in vehicles from the 80’s cartoon including the Striker, Rattler, H.I.S.S. tanks, etc.
All I know about military hardware from the 80s came from what Arnie or Dolph Lundgren were driving in their movies. I can’t wait to see what’s coming for the British in Team Yankee now.
Loved the show. Can’t wait to see the british stuff. Also curious what well be after the british maybe french?
I’ve missed you guys over the last few weekends. I am looking forward to getting the Brits for Team Yankee. You can never have enough tanks!!!!!
Team Yankee I was thinking of Sweden they used the British Centurion and more famously the Stridsvagn 103 more commonly known as the S-Tank. It was turretless with a fixed gun traversed by engaging the tracks and elevated by adjusting the hull suspension.
Happy 4th of July weekend guys!
Benn looking at this for a week or so a chance to win the set would be amazing
Even my 10 year od nephew is going on about tanks, though he would like to know when the tigers are coming out for it…….
Great painting Justin and Ben! I will crack on and paint some relics minis.
Great show… Team Yankee.. I’m looking for East Germans with all the crappy BTR series vehicles and wacky helmets
I have to agree with @spaced2020 the IDF would be awesome.
How about some Swedes for Team Yankee, I am certain its already been mentioned but I´ll say it again 🙂
QRF have just released Swedish armour in 15mm
For Team Yankee i’m looking forward to seeing the British and the challenger tank (mk 1 obviously). Should be good, Tanks is great too!
I’d like to see more Warsaw Pact options for Team Yankee. West Germany and Britain have to be priorities – and I’d like to see France too – but it would be good to have more options on the other side.
I don’t know how realistic that is, as I presume all Pact forces used the same equipment, but it would make for a more interesting player base if Pact players could pick from different armies.
In the longer run, I think it would also be cool to have Chinese forces for an alternative WWIII that perhaps doesn’t even involve NATO. That would be interesting!
Can’t wait for the Bundeswehr to show up…. oh and the Brits next, kinda figured that…… Who is coming for the Warsaw Pact? Czechs and East Germans used mostly Soviet equipment…
I think it’d be interesting to add us Canadians to the Team Yankee world! Represent!
Justin: I’ve watched many backstage shows and you seem hesitant (sometimes) or down on your skill as a painter. I would just like to say you are miles beyond what you think you are. Be proud! You do great work and you should be very proud of your “flow”. That is what I call what Warren and you guys call your hobby. Enjoy it, revel in it, be proud of it!! You do a great job and I envy your consistent passion for all games!
But this isn’t Infinity 😀 I could always branch out… 😛
Yep nice set of rules, just ordered some British Tanks
Tanks looks like it could be fun on a rainy afternoon. Hopefully there will be rules for other tanks available as part of the flames of war range.
I love the trolls. Have never managed to get into Warmachine or Hordes but they do have some of the best looking fantasy minis.
Team Yankee is high up on our “to buy” list. We are just waiting on a few more armies to be available. One player is looking for the British release, and another would love some Chinese PLA to surface. Me? I am happy now we have the Bundeswehr so I can play with cat named tanks in WW2 and WW3 lol
I would like to see some spin off books for Team Yankee, covering things like the Afghan invasion by the Soviets, Gulf War 1 and maybe even the Falklands?
For Team Yankee I’d like to see the smaller countries from the Warsaw Pact. The contributions from Romania, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, etc. could make an interesting combined book or downloadable pdf/e-book.
A lot of the troops could be represented by existing infantry and vehicles, with new vehicles released for the unique or most characterful vehicles from each country. It would be a great ‘bang for the buck’ way to add increased variety and flexibility for scenarios all across Greater Lloydoslavia.
I would like to see some stuff from the East for Team Yankee. Now with the third NATO-state comming out it is time to boost the Eastern Block a bit to colourize both sides. I know the East were mostly equiped with Russian tech. but there are so much more Soviet tanks we could field. I’m thinking of T-55AM, T-62 and even Soviet guards Regiments’ T-64. Alongside with the wheeled Recce and ATVs like the BRDM and BTR-series.
I could write so much more… but I have to stop, because I’m on vacation and my wife start’s looking at me…
😉
Been sitting on the fence about FoW and Team Yankee, but the more videos I watch on here, the closer I get to pulling the trigger… Dang you BoW!!! Also, that prize from the Uncle Jimmy Mob is pretty swell!
Future of Team Yankee? How about Brits? Or, a little left field this, Martians!
Aaaaannd they announce Brits later in the show – Sweet!
Now for the martians… 😉
Be good to see phantoms and the scorpion tank for the Brits for Team Yankee.
Great show again guys.
Love the demons @brennon have been painting up for Silver Tower, i am really tempted to pick the game up, love all the different models you been showing us.
@dignity You Swan starter set looks awesome ! Love the bases !
@warzan did they really censor Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle in the UK back in the day?
I’m not so hot on the cold war gone hot, but World of Tanks on a tabletop with WW2 gear is absolutely my jam
@dignity Cygnar looking nice 🙂
As for the Team Yankee. It is a tough choice. 🙂 The Warsaw Pact is more or less the same based on Soviet concepts still would love to see Poles or Czechoslovakians 🙂
Phil Yates interview was really interesting 🙂
I would love to see the French next for Team Yankee. With all those Amx 13 tanks, the game would get another twist (fast, no armor, big gun). But I always love light tanks. On the otherside the russians are quite alone for the moment. So some NVA would be nice. With some outdated 60s equipment maybe 😀
I’d simply like some Dutch units for team Yankee. If I’m gonna play a wargame where my own country can play a role, mights as well be patriotic.
Love to see more Eastern European factions or subfaction for Team Yankee!
Wow – my 3 boys and I watched the weekender and all i’ve been asked for since is the tanks set and Team Yankee has to be on my birthday list this August 😉 British for me and the West Germans for my eldest spot on family time!
For Team Yankee, either a British force with some SAS units as well as the British Infantry and MBT’s, or… A Communist force (maybe China or even North Korea) and have some focuses on infantry so they can be infantry swarms (I am a fan of infantry swarm armies).
🙂
Love the show. My wife is always asking if I’m watching Irish tv or something! lol. “No babe, it’s the Weekender and XLBS” … Blank stare… “Gamer stuff”… Me, “yes dear.” Hahahahhaaaa… I want to see more army’s for TEAM YANKY. Israel, China, Egypt. Keep it coming!!!!
great show.. loving team yankee and the tanks game. some of the guys at my local club are thinking about picking it up. i would love to see some chinook copters. i think they would be great, they would be great at deploying infrantry and light armour around the battle field
Oh So nice. I want that Tanks bundle.
My look forward for team yankee is a spanish onu blue helmets for the balkan conflict on Sarajevo and Bosnia, Seems a 3rd will do it on ks soon.
Great show as always.
For Team Yankee it could be nice to get some Israeli forces, seeing the Merkava and their Kafir aircraft, and those nice sandy desert camo styles. Current expansions on current forces, how about a Tomcat or a Hornet or even the older Phantoms for the yanks and some variations of the Migs for the Russians.
For team Yankee I would love to see some of the uniquely British aircraft that operated from the 60s onwards, but we’re coming to the end of their life in the 80s & 90s but I was lucky enough to see at airshows as a boy:
The Buccaneer as a low level specialist
The Scepecat Jaguar (which also provides the French with something:
The BAC Lightning – a silver dagger piercing the sky
The original Harrier (GR1?) – the one with the characterful ugly nose before the US tidied it up:
The Tornado – affectionately known as Tonka and probably my favourite in ground attack form
Lastly, however improbable on the tabletop, let loose the god of thunder – The VULCAN
Oh man…. So many great games coming out. Kinda hope Dust makes a bit of a comeback… My Dust models may be currently collecting… well dust… It was a great game…
Also… WILL WE BE GETTING CHALLENGER TANKS FOR TEAM YANKEE?!?!?!? Please…
Let’s have the brits, tornadoes and harriers so cool
For team yankee, The dutch…. Not the orange soccerfans but the army of the Dutch
For Team Yankee, I would like to see mod kits/ transfers to adapt the Sovjet forces to other forces of the Warsaw Pact (especially Eastern German) for some inn-German action.
I don’t know tanks well enough to know what I would like to see there, but I would love to win the set to try the game out.
Finally got to watch Sundays show, real life can be a right pain sometimes.
Great show guys, can’t wait to see the new layout you have planned for BOW.
Like Phil I remember before gameswork shop, i used to play games using airfix minis and tanks. Me and my friend used to line up our forces, using D6’s we would roll ……1to 6 kill troops – 5’s destroy light vehicle’s and two sixes to destroy tanks. They where some of the best games I’ve ever played. Now we have Team Yankee that takes its place for me, so as soon as I can I’ll be getting the West German forces. Not played it yet, but I’ll get there soon.
My grandfather was in the 761st tank battalion in WWII. Can’t wait for a tanks game.
Did I mention the tank is a tank?
Great work!
