Our Infinity Miniatures Game Operation Red Veil Week continues as Carlos from Corvus Belli discusses how they went about designing the latest Starter Set.
We take a look at some great pieces of concept art which will hopefully give you some inspiration for your Haqqislam and Yu Jing paint schemes.

I have never really been that fond of vanilla Yu Jing favouring the Imperial Service just because of the look of core troops but that’s now changed, the Zhanshi update have really pulled them in line with the current style of the faction.
Too many nice things to get. I already have a Maghariba Guard sitting on my painting table looking for my attention! Not to mention all that USAriadna I haven’t assembled yet ><

@dignity The Ghulam Doctor option is very good, but…. The more doctors you use the less chance they get to actually heal somebody on the battlefield. I learned this from personal experience.
I ran a ‘flying doctor’ link team of 5 Ghulam Doctors during Operation Flamestrike. Specifically to gain the upper hand in the med coffin mission. Running in and getting the goods was easy. But on their way out the Ghulam (and their specialist friends) were often critically wounded or double-tapped outright.
I’d say doctors are good, but shotguns are better. 🙂

So do the miniatures in the Red Veil box come with all the weapon options?
No, the available weapons are only shown on the concept art so one knows which weapons they can have.
I have repeatedly dipped my toe into infinity but never really got into it. This looks to be a stunning set and Haqqislam stuff is stunning. Hmm time to abuse the poor piggy bank

The Ninja with the bow is amazing but the rest of Ju Jing is actually really interesting as well. The sculpts on these figures are awe inspiring, and the paint jobs are even more inspiring.

Infinity is easily one of my favourite games. its so well crafted, and the models just keep getting better!

the understanding of body mechanics and its execution in the ninja is awesome. the coiling from the legs through the waist to the expansion of the chest gives this model a posture containing dynamic power , this kind of thing is rarely seen in sculpts and its not the first time they have done this.
love seeing the artwork of the troopers and the weapons options since corvus belli started showing these at the seminars. would love to see an art book with all of these in one place.

What in 40 thieves is a Ramatach / Rama Task Force? The Caliphate’s fighting arm?
All the minis in this set are so nice. Yu Jing I’m not surprised about, but also the Haq minis. Then again, their later design is hitting a nerve for me (like the angelic Naffatûn).
And loving the turbans. Please, bring more for this nomadic and exotic aura.
The Kawarij might actually be my favourite design in the box. No dramatic but rather basic sculpt, but a strong and realistic one. (Super Jump represented on the model would be nice, though. In equipment details or in pose. Man, taking off or landing – you could really make a Neo reference here with the coat…!)
Also, the Al Fassed is much appealing to me – exceptional since I am highly critical towards the new super heavy infantry models and I don’t see any healthy human sized body fitting in this suit in that stance…
Btw, was this the first official name dropping for the Huang Di sectorial as White Banner Army? That is great. Nice name and possibly indicating that what was promised before might actually stay true after all: that all the white masked troops go in there.
Not a Yu Jing player, but I might still need that ninja…

Am I the only one who like the more muted tone of the Customeeple more that the Angle ones ? – Seem almost wrong to say it but they hit the mark better for me

Though I do actually like a lot about the CB studio minis’ colours of specifically this 2 player set.
The more I see the new models the more I am convinced that I will eventually have every army in the game.

Really like the update on the Ninja. I must admit the black white and gold makes,me think of ME’s Cerberus ninja. The new Hsien’s helmet seems to be a call back to the original design.

Let me count the ways I hate thee…..
i) I wish to eat, but you are putting out more and more beautiful miniatures for other factions that I don’t currently own, so I am rocking out ramen style while I get more stuff. Well I do need to lose weight, I guess…
ii) I need new clothes as my current ones could be used as Catholic Relics (i.e. they are rather hole ridden, or holey… holy… …too much… …sorry…) and your new miniatures… Damn! I want all of them. As far as a Schreiber scale score (ref. Mayacast) all of these models are a 5.
iii) Your game is contagious. Starting a new club in Seoul (started about 2 months ago, and we already have 6 players and 5 looking over our shoulders) and this set showcases all of the non-Tohaa or Combined rules in HSN3.
iv) Your stuff is so pretty. I play a number of other 28mm – 30mm stuff and your models are so much nicer and higher quality than most other manufacturers. An order arrived at the new club of Infinity and another game. Non-Infinity models need to have a date with a sand blaster and green stuff, Infinity models, not even a blemish on the surface. Only some flash which was easily removed. You actually made one of the gamers say that he wished he’d have gone into Infinity more….
v) I, umm… yeah…. I can’t lie anymore…. Can’t you start making some more old Croc Men so that I DON’T want to buy them….

I love the choices they’ve made! Such a gorgeous collection if miniatures, and the fit together so well! With HMGs and Grenade Launchers, Flamethrowers and Sniper Rifles, and so on, you’ve got a LOT of toys to play with!
I’m excited for this one.
I’m stoked by that terrain. USAriadna base was very nice and detailed, but Neon Lotus is heterogeneous and astonishingly beautiful. New design of terrain is a level up in terms of playability!

So there I was trying to convince myself that I was not to purchase any new games or minis for a long time. One week in and Corvus Belli produce Operation Red Veil. I try to let it pass and then BOW put up this unblocking. What is there not to love about this product? The minis are gorgeous, the condensed rules are beautiful and the terrain provided just great. Trying to resist…Trying to resist…starting to wilt…resistance lowering…

I love Corvus Belli’s design ethos. They certainly don’t cut corners.
I love the Ahl Fassed Regiment mini, it looks so solid and implacable, exactly how heavy infantry should look. The overall design of both fractions in amazing, particually the way there are repeating elements across both the forces (such as the knee pad designs on the Haqqislam, or the overlapping body armour on the Yu Jing) gives a consistency to the forces while still allowing each troop type to be unique. Fantastic.
The whole thing looks absolutely awesome! Such a long wait till it hits the stores though. :'(
So far, I only own one Infinity mini, the one that came with Angel’s book. I’m interested in adding more, based on what I’m seeing in these videos. 🙂

A very informative show, nice to hear how they go about deciding how thing`s should go together. I do enjoy watching the “Infinity” show`s, especially the battle reports. You get to learn a lot, and pick up a lot of useful tips on game play.
Now of to work, will catch up on the next show later on tonight when i home.
Hah! I’m just glad it wasn’t Ariadna vs Haqqislam! Unless it was full of Metros, it would have been hard to distinguish the two forces using their ‘studio’ colour scheme!

what I really like of these new models is the evolution of the Hsien. One of the best Yu Jing troops in my opinion.

Not a Haqqislam player myself, I really like the new designs and miniatures for that faction. But, been a YUJING player… aaaaagggghhh me want now!
Now seriously, the ninja is absolute magnificent, the Terracota, been one of my favourite new profiles is great (now I need money for the other one too xD). And thank the goddess for the new Zhanshis, the old ones were unbearable ugly and out of style compared with the rest. I’m used to play keisotsus as main troops in generic just because of that!
Just noticed in the Hsien that the design pic has the antennas reversed (!) Very interesting, it feels more aggressive somehow.

I told myself not too long ago as I sat with a cart filled with Yu Jing models, that “I should wait for the new Yu Jing stuff to start coming before pulling the trigger.” Glad I did. I have a handfull of Haqq stuff that will love having this box along with being able to finally start Yu Jing! Good stuff for sure.

Stunning, Haqqislam is the reasons I looked at this but some of those Yu Jing sculpts are insanely nice. Haqqislam pick for me is actually the Ghulam infantry.

The ninja is amazingly dynamic. I adore watching all the new models! No need to focus on the big boys, in every mini theres a lot of love in every detail!
With playing Warmachine and Dark Age already, it takes an exceptional quality of miniature and game design for me to want to start a third skirmish game. Infinity has these qualities in abundance. The figures in this set are simply stunning.
Hopefully we get to hear more about Rama in the not too distant future.

Id never heard of Infinity before watching this video – but last night took part in an introduction game at my local store (JustPlay Liverpool). I was absolutely blown away! Skirmish is so much fun, and the system seems really intuitive with loads of depth. Definitely gonna be playing more and trying to get my hands on some of the factions in the near future! 🙂

I was always a little skeptical of a ‘tactical bow’ in my sci-fi skirmish wargame, but the more I see the designs and that incredible model, the more I come to realize how wrong I was… much to the horror of my wallet.

I painted long time ago the first edition Haqqislam starter box, so I find those Haqqislam miniatures looks the same with subtle changes… But this new Yu Jing is blowing my mind! Such exquisite design, I can recognize parts of the Gui-Jia in every miniature… Corvus Belli has made the best miniatures in market again!
