On the Table s6 ep4: Golems, Waterdeep & Whitechapel!
September 26, 2013 by warzan
In This Episode
Welcome back to a new episode of On the Table! This time around we'll be kicking things off with the mighty warriors of Golem Arcana. This certainly looks like Shadow of the Colossus on the tabletop! As well as that we delve into the beautiful miniatures from Tercio Creativo, these have to be seen to be believed.
On top of that we have board games from Fantasy Flight in Letters from Whitechapel, card games like Sopio and if you're a lover of role-playing you can't miss out on Splintered Light Miniatures' hero range.
Oh and did I mention we give you more info on the epic DreadBall!
Previous Winner
Talking of DreadBall the winner of the epic prize from last episode is...

You have a chance to win the core game where you play as magically transformed heroes trying to stop an evil doer from taking over your world.

Seems like a game full of CHEESE if you ask me. 😀 hehe
Looks awesome all the same though. Me likey!! 🙂
Mica & Mystics looks awesome!
I hope this is something I could get my wife to play and maybe paint some of the miniatures with me. Would be good to give her a little bit of a peek into my world 🙂
Man , for a child inclusive game, this sure seems complicated!
So… adventuring about with what amounts to fantasy based Splinters? I’m in!
I’m always down for a fun game.
There needs to be more games about adorable mice.
Watching these shows cost me more money than I have!! So many shiny things to buy!!
Werebears for the Win!
Have to say a company thinking ahead is always great to see and adding holes for magnets definitely counts in my book. Hats (and arms, legs, guns, wheels, turrets etc) off to them.
Mexi orcs! I can say no more.
lol wtf!!!!
kidding, great vid!
lord’s of waterdeep is one of my favorite boardgames!!cant wait to try the expansion.
Right before he said it I thought “that Mice And Mytics game looks like my children would have fun playing it with me.” We always need those starter games that are a step up from board games but still fire the imagination of the young and set their feet on the path of gaming in such a way that want to explore.
Congrats to the winner, that was a great prize. Now I am off to buy my copy.
if you mentioned puppets war and i know you heard about kromlech and anvil industry. I would recommend to check Spellcrow company http://www.spellcrow.com/index.php?language=en
Those mice are so much cuter than those basts running round my kitchen right now.
LOL WTF!
Don’t kill them, they might be adventurers trying to free the kingdom from the plans of the evil queen!
Mice and Mystics, sounds like great little game. And would be great for something to do this winter when the nephews and nieces come over for a visit.
So please pick me for this prize. its already getting to cold and wet out for exploring the wood around hear.
That Mice and Mystics game looks like a great idea from my girls…..
cooool
Damn it guys, my wife hate you ! so much temptation on this episode 😛
Dies Irae looks so sweet (lovely minis)
i almost forgot : I’m in for Mice and Mystic 😉
Awesome games!
Mice and mystics is a game I’d have picked up long ago except for one thing: I HATE MEECES TO PIECES!
It’s okay though, I have a plan. If I win the game I’ll replace the mouse minis with frog minis.
love puppetswar, bits are awsome, and all the turrets have some for my dreadnought and big moma on tractor amazing model ;]
My 8 year old has been going about ‘the mouse game’ for ages, we play a few games, mostly made up of other games and whatever rules we make up on the go, but now my 4 year old son wants to play with us it might be time to get it.
…Hi de puta!!!!…i do speak spanish :D…..Mice and mystics it´s quite enjoyable and cool….
Whitechapel’s penis figurines :S
great mice sculpts, weird looking game though.
Ooh, my little girl would love that Mice and Mystics. please enter me for the competition.
Just picked up letters from white chapel and it is absolutely fantastic
still 59 hors left on the indiegogo for dies israe
make sure you check it out before it too late!!
I’ve been looking at mice and mystics for quite a while, my kids would definitely get a kick out of this!
lol. As soon as I seen that game I thought Redwall. I definitely want that game so I can recreate the mathias vs cluny battles.
Love it have been waiting for more on the table, keep up the good work!
Mice, ohh rats
I would love to play Mice and Mystics, And I love your videos, keep them coming
pick me to win! lol
lol wtf
but seriously mice and mystics looks fun. I think Im going to try and find a copy of whitechapel now
mice and mystics sounds great
So many games!
Why are none of the playable characters (from what I briefly saw) called Shredder? Is it because he’s a radical rat?!
I want to cry a little every time I see a Tercio model…they are so amazing looking but practically don’t exist here in the US. With the dollar being weaker than both Euros and Pounds the international shipping charges are just too high to buy them out of the country.
To put it in perspective, getting the C perk, which is a book and five models, would cost me $100. I just can’t justify dropping that much for so little. Maybe one day they will have better distribution over here in the States but for now no 1650 for me. :;(
Getting a free copy of mice and mystics may cheer me up…
Mice and mystics is a great game to introduce the little ones into something more than uno, who knows might even get them to paint the figs too.
Redwall was so much fun! I’d really like to xplore dungeons as a mouse for an evening, once in a while! Bring it on! It looks like great fun!
Discovering this show today, very good and interesting.
Thanks !
The mice thing reminds me a lot of Brushfire. I wonder how that wargame got on. The combat badgers looked amazing.
would be a fantastic game to get the niece into gaming, she’s already eyeing up some painting. And I think letters from white chapel might be for the mrs!
Always wanted to play this game. It looks ace!!
Those tercio creativo and bushido models look awesome, I might have to look into picking some up.
Great game, and great minis!
I ponder what it would be like to play letters from white chapel with ather Conan Doyle and professor graham bell
Cheese,Cheese,and more Cheese.
Now there is a phrase we haven’t heard in a long time
Miss you Darrell!! Love and hugs man
(unless you are wearing your nappy in which case it is just too weird!) lol
Definitely looking forward to dreadball ultimate! Golem Arcana just looks kinda boring…
I like games!
looking good
I’ve heard Mice and Mystics is good, so I’d love a copy.
Another great show. I’ll have to track down the were-bear, that looks freaking AWESOME
I haven’t seen some of the models from WWX. Super excited now to get my minis.
I’m fairly new to Beasts of War but I have to say you guys are amazing! I stumbled upon your site while trying to find info about a little game called Dreadball. Of course I had to view “Dreadball Academy” which led me to dumping a load of money on it. Keep up the great work!
Mice and Mystics has been on my radar for a while. Now that two of my three boys are old enough to play I need to get my hands on this game.
Count me in on the mice. This game looks great!
I am wondering if I can use my Mousling miniatures for the game. I love that line.
Ive never heard of the Mice & mystics before, but will check them out. Also i have been meaning to have a look at Waterdeep Lords for my 11 & 13 year old siblings who have been taking an interest in both RPG’s and Mini games, so I was looking for for some gateway type games to play with them when I see them next.
Mice and Mystics looks really cool!
Heard a lot about mice and mystics, it would make a good start to an rpg collection.
Love to win
Those mice minis are really fun little sculpts. All in all the game looks like a perfect gateway game for kids to a gaming hobby.
Liking the look of the new Bushido faction and other new models in the latest waves!
This one has been on my ‘to buy’ list since it’s release!
nice, I love the Mice and Mystics game I think my daughter would as well liking the re-release of LfW too. Puppets war do loads of great stuff not just conversion bits but entire vehicles which look fantastic. thanks for the heads up on the mice guys
Im very very interested in Dreadball actually. Just have to decide which faction I want 🙂
The Mice and Mystics looks awesome
An (unofficial?) Redwall game? Looks interesting
Medieval Secret of NIMH? I’m in!
Like the board game with mice. Adds a nice little twist to a board game.
LOL, WTF!
1234567890-=qwertyuiop[]asdfghjkl;’#\zxcvbnm,./
Just for you Warren. 😛 hehe
Please let me win and take this to my board game club! 🙂
I never played a game like Mice ans Mystics. I better look into it.
i want that game 🙂
I’ve been looking to buy this game for a long time, now I can win 1
Very interesting “On the Table” the “Mice and Mystics” game looks really interesting, I just might have to go out and buy it.
Mice and mistics could be fun.
My kids would totally love that game! I’ll be buying it even if I don’t win it.
Cool episode – always enjoy OTT!
Going to need to win the prize, thanks.
Winna Winna I want a Cheese Dinna
it’s like the secret of nimh in a game!
Nice show as always thanks for shearing news 😉 Mice and Mystic looks awesome 😉
That mice and mystics looks awesome. I like the idea of golem arcana but price and visuals are not doing it for me.
Want my WW Exodus. Want it bad…
Fantastic show again! My first try to hunt prizes. This has a feeling of a game itself. As game collector I always thought that I have already every topic and kind of miniature style. In your show I am faced with the real world of goodies. Anyway – Mice & Mystics could be a brilliant jewel in my collection and works as incentive to play with my son. Perhaps I´ll do a Tom & Jerry adaption of the game. Well – I have to look for available tomcat miniatures. See you at the next show!
I like mouse games too you know. I want to win a mouse game and if I win I will massage warrens feet.
Oi
That’s Sam’s job! 😛
You’re right about those mice, very reminiscent of redwall and boy did I love those books as a kid…
Those mice look cool. My wife would love it!
Love the look of that game, It will be in my collection one way or another 🙂
Lords of waterdeep seems like it might be worth a go.
The miniatures for Mice and Mystics look pretty cool. 🙂
qwerty… more letter to follow
Mice and Mystics looks like an awesome game.
something intriguing
Those mice molds are brilliant, so clean. and so many board games so little cash
I really would like to win those mice ! 🙂
Can’t wait for Wild West exodus, should be awesome
Martin for the win please. Do you know if it is sold in Canada? (Mice & mystics)
Like the look of this , very similar in layout to Super Dungeon Explore but with more twists.
Love the fact that everybody plays the good guys and the Baddies are semi automatically controlled by the players. ( In our house that’s a win win situation, no Bad Guy player leads to a more enjoyable game, no tiffs etc )
The minis look nicely sculpted, I could see myself painting these in one session, albeit a rather prolonged session, altogether a beautiful looking game.
ooohh little mices! Love them!
I had an eye on Mice and Mystics for quite some time now. It looks realy good.
Golem Arcana looks like it could be a lot of fun. Well the models look like they could be great to have.
Oh man, this reminds me I still need to get Mice and Mystics. And keep on working on my dreadball collection..
Cant wait to get my hands on dreadball ultimate. It looks like tons of. Fun
i like mice game, I play somting like that with the mouslings of reaper miniatures.
The Wild West bike looked the dogs bollocks. Still not convinced on the tag pen idea; too clunky for my liking
I was surprised when you said Golem Arcana is pre-painted. They look quite nice. I’m not so sure about a square mat, but perhaps like Okko, it will make for a great game to teach people the basics of skirmish and wargaming. Any way to get more people interested in the hobby, the better.
Tercio Creativo:Dies Irae; nice minis, good for representation of characters for Airship Pirates or 7th Sea though we don’t actually use miniatures in combat.
Sopio: Sounds like a good game to add to the pile of rules-lite games such as fluxx, zombie dice and guillotine. Better than the above it sounds friendlier towards non-geeks, something to break out on Game Night when a player brings a date who is otherwise uninterested.
Splintered Light Miniatures: I’ve yet to try the 15mm range but the ratling/nezumi figures are well detailed and may do well representing swarms in RPGs.
Dreadball Ultimate: I love the up to 6 aspect and once tried Blood Bowl, perhaps another user can tell me how they compare in play styles. Not that owning and playing multiple games isn’t an option either.
Letters from White Chapel is already on the shelf and yet to be played, think we’ll fix that tonight.
Waterdeep did entertain our friends, perhaps the expansion will breathe new life into it.
Mice and Mystics looks like a fun game and reminds me of Redwall crossed with Super Dungeon Explore.
Been stalking Letters From Whitechapel for awhile (pun intended). And the Scoundrels Of Skullport as well for that matter.
Always good to see Dreadball, and showing off the various bitz companies is always nice to see.
I saw Mice at GenCon but didn’t get a chance to pick it up. Looks like a fun game.
Holy crap! I want Mice and Mystics! Those mini’s look so rad. This also reminds me a bit of the comic Mouse guard.
The quick, brown fox jumps over the lazy dog! There you go, all the letters used. Lol WTF? Mice and Mystics To Me!
I want to be the hero mouse – even if it’s just for a single day..
Looks like great fun.
New models for Bushido – can’t wait to paint em.
I want those Mice and Mystics – it’s the best way to make my Skaven gutter runners till GW make new sculpts:D (And who cares about the scale difference?)
Awww man. Mouse guard looks great. Something simple to play.
I’ve heard Mice and Mystics is great for family gaming, and I’d love to play this with my daughter. Please pick me 🙂
Mice and mystics looks like fun. I’d paint the plastic miniatures.
That Golem Arkana is something really intriguing. The sculps are really good looking, remindes me the Pan’s Labirynth film a little.
A great blast of content, really enjoying the snippets of hobbies and the snap shots of whats new etc. Really good fun!
Mice and mystics looks fun….Also I have a razorback turret from puppets war that looks pretty cool.
Need more Cowbell
So my two cents on Golem Arcana: The models look awesome, there is no doubt about that and they come painted which is more than fantastic, accessible as hell huzzah! And then relies on you owning an i or a capable android device.. :/ (I have those things so my opinion is not caused by desire/jealousy) The fact that you effectively rely on a computer for a gaming system when you are table top gaming.. I don’t know it just doesn’t sit happily with me, who knows I can always be proven wrong..
As for mice and mystics is it as good as it looks?
Can’t find people who want to play Mouseguard anywhere near me, even after waving the books at them so maybe Mice & Mystics is the way forward.
Gr8 show as always!
Mice and Mystics looks fun,I am sure this is one board game my family would not get cheesed off about when they lose!
Love this game , good one
Fun fun
Mice and Mystics…yeah!
odd trivia: anyone here a fan of Mouse Guard? They created an RPG for it a few years back and it sold out quickly…it’s now a collectors item. Mice and Mystics would make a great source for a Mouse Guard fix as well…
cheers,
The Mice and Mystics game looks amazing with such beautiful art on the components. The miniatures look to be nicely sculpted too which is a bonus 😉 I will have to try and grab this game some day…or maybe win it 😉
Loving those mice models.
I would love to win mice and mystics!
Massive fan of Nezumi! This is something I want to play ASAP! Everything looks fantastic and the figures are top notch! 🙂
The mouse minis look cool! As well as the giant spider! I think this would be cool to play with my kids, too.
Mice & Mystics would be perfect, looking for a fun game to play with my daughter.
Those Mice and Mystics minis look like they would be perfect for playing the MouseGuard rpg.
werebears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mouseguard is an awesome rpg and Mice and Mystics seems just as good !
I love the boards in mice&mystics, so evocative
Anyone else mis-hear Warren and thought he said “Scoundrels of Scunthorpe” instead of “Scoundrels of Skullport”. I had to look up from my painting at that point because I thought ‘this sounds interesting’. Strange world we are in where “Scunthorpe” sounds more interesting that “Skullport”.
cheese
Thanks a lot for mentioning redwall now i will have to read them again. By the way they are making a video game for redwall. Even though i think they should totaly make a miniatures game or a co-op board game with redwall in mind.
Ohh man, I’d love to win Mice and Mystics to play with my son. Not to mention being able to use those sexy models for the Mouse Guard RPG!!! (0__0 )
Mice and Mystics would be a perfect gateway game for my family
Who need men when you can have mice. 🙂
And thanks for pointing out Tercio Creativo. Those mini’s weren’t on my radar yet and they look just too good too miss. Perhaps I do need another Mordheim warband.
LOLTF
You might remind the silent ‘M’ that we never had an instructional video on Kings of War, assuming that he returns from Mars. (Meters or Yards)?
I would love mice and mystics.
Good stuff, keep it coming, guys. And yh, that Mice and Mystics box would find a very loving home at mine so.. y know.. 🙂
Mice & Mystics looks neat.
Thanks so much for the focus on Mice & Mystics! I hadn’t heard of it before, but having been the editing & mastering engineer on the Martin the Warrior audiobook, I’m certain Brian [Jacques] would have found it enchanting!
(and you’ve got me hooked on the idea of playing Letters, now, too!)
mice & mystics a game i was quite intrigued with and hope to see some more of. i play silvermoon syndicate myself and they’re a great faction play with as they have a random effect to them that can make any game high risk and high reward
I was eyeing the play of this game over the weekend while in a munchkin tournament ran by Andrew Hackard. Unfortunately I didn’t find my way into a game. Would be cool to give it a shot.
I really love the look of it all, and mice & mystics looks so cool.
(did not mean to make it rhyme)
Thinking of getting the other half “Letters from Whitechapel” for Christmas as she loves anything Jack the Ripper and I love boardgames. Win win situation!
I’d love to win a copy of Mice and Mystics.
Hey! Great prize!
Just missed the kickstarter so it would be so nice to get a copy 🙂
My kids really love Mouseguard (well, my oldest does, my youngest just likes the pictures) so that Mice and Mystics game looks worth checking out for those times when I can’t be bothered to unpack Super Dungeon Explore lol
Wow, that Mice & Mystics looks like great fun. My kids would like a mouse as a pet, so if I had that game it would be a good compromise…
btw – There needs to be more Warren and Darrel 40k videos. They are fun to watch and highly amusing with their witty banter and in depth analysis. A great double act, kind of like the Ant & Dec or Morcambe & Wise of 40k video tutorials/reviews. Very useful for someone new to the world of 40k like myself. Hope they can go through another codex, maybe the recent Space Marines one. Educational and funny all rolled into one 🙂
Ill lay down for a chance to win just about anything.
I once played Mice & Mystics with my gaming group, I had so much fun! till we ran out of time trying to kill a spider boss… still loved it!
I got hear from Geek and Sundry and this show but i swear i come here more now than i do the Geek and Sundry site. Keep up the cool stuff
Thank you, we’re really glad you have stuck around 🙂
