First Contact With The Human Concord Of Warlord’s Antares
April 3, 2014 by brennon
Warlord Games have previewed the first render of their Concord Human troops for Gates of Antares. See what you think of this powerful civilisation that have big ideas when it comes to the galaxy.
Here you can see one of their troopers alongside the Algoryn with plasma rifle ready to blast away a foe or two...
"The Panhuman Concord is the largest and most powerful civilisation of the Seventh Age comprising almost a quarter of all human worlds of Antarean space. The ruling elite of the Concord is the race of tall, gracile human morphs called New Humans or NuHu. These aloof Mandarins are co-evolved with the Integrated Machine Intelligence, or IMTel, that controls human societies within the Concord."
It all sounds very cool and I love that each of their troopers is equipped with their own personal shielding device which keeps them from harm. There is another human faction on the way too, the Isorian Shard, and it will be neat to compare the two armies.
What do you think?

Technically speaking, the Algoryn, Boromites, Concord and Isorian Shard (along with most of the other factions in the game lore) are all ‘human’ factions, or at least are made up of subspecies descended from the original human baseline due to genetic manipulation. The Concord and Isorian Shard do have relatively large elements within their respective populations who still look like modern day humans under all the technology, but their populations also include lots of Panhuman morphs as well, such as the NuHu.
Indeed, the only actually alien race with no common lineage with humanity yet described for the game in detail is the Vorl.
(OK – that is my pedant quota used up for the day… 😉 )
That said, I agree that comapring the Concord and Isorian forces will be interesting. As it happens, the Concord is my favourite faction from the existing game lore. It will be fascinating to see them alongside a render of the more biomechanical technological style of the Isorian Shard forces, since the conflict between these two metacivilisations is a major part of the game setting.
I really like the Concord digital render. The smooth, integrated design of the armour harness, along with the distinctive helmet, give the models a strong visual identity, helping to separate the Concord forces from the other high tech factions in the game. And of course, GoA plasma rifles are always awesome.
Apparently, more renders of Concord units will be forthcoming over the next few weeks, including crewed support weapons and independent weapon drones. I am especially interested in seeing what the NuHu themselves will look like, since they are such important figures in the background of the Concord.
Darn it! Blockquote fail in my last post. Apologies.
I like the GoA stuff and backed the unsuccessful KS (got Hansa sitting in my “To Paint” pile as well), but it does feel a bit ‘same-y’ at the moment… there are so many sci-fi games out there now that this one really needs a meaningful differentiator – WWX did it with the story and background, DZ did it with the game design and overall package, Infinity continue to do it with AMAZING sculpts – GoA needs something to make it standout!… the changeable game world mentioned in the KS could do that but haven’t heard anything about it since the KS 😉
