It’s the Weekender!
I’m loving the updates on the 40k Apocalyptic 18′ table build. It’s fun to watch Lloyd get jazzed about this new build. I’m really enjoying it!
Warcry has sucked me into Age of Sigmar finally.
I didn’t what to play any Chaos armies so I had to look around.
The ‘Idoneth Deepkin’ is listed as one of the three armies of ‘Order’.
I remember when the Idoneth Deepkin was first being presented to the AoS community, I told myself that if I ever get into AoS that that would be a cool and different kind of army to go with. It seems that the time is right to enter two games at once. Warcry and AoS.
Gene Wolfe was a veteran of the Korean War. Apparently he used his memories of the experience for his Book of the New Sun.
I think that Peanuts character was Pig Pen, who always had the cloud around him
Linus was the kid with the security blanket and was Lucy’s younger brother.
cheers, all I really remember is that Charlie wouldn’t talk to us at Historicon
Good grief
Great to see some Nork’s for Korea, I’m tossing up between getting South Korean’s or Nork’s and South Koreans.
The Reason the Chinese had so much stuff is that during (for the Germans prior to) WWII the Allies poured weapons into China to support Chiang Kai Shek against the Japanese. The Germans armed parts of Chiang Kai Shek’s Nationalist Army prior to the war as well but for obvious reasons their aid was not able to continue. The Communists obviously beat Chiang Kai Shek and his Nationalists and managed to capture a lot of his equipment.
Please do some Asian heads, I’d really like some for WW2 myself but they’d just be so useful for Korea too.
One of the Greatest TV shows ever made was a US copy of a UK Show. All in the Family was a copy of Till Death Us Do Part and is far better.
The City is called “Justonia” named for it’s former bumbling fool of a Governor who’s incompetence caused the war that destroyed it.
He oversaw the city from the “Glorious Hall of his most Exemplary Majesty of his Holiness the Emperor’s Servant his Humbleness the Benevolent Justinius” of “The Hall of Majesty” where the Governor ran his planet into the ground mainly by bankrupting it with two enormous projects.
The First was the “Spire to His Most Holy Emperor’s Eternal Glory” an endless spire that was simply built upwards until it collapsed and when t did they simply started again. “When our glorious structure finally pleases the God Emperor only then will it stand for all time”. The Spire also housed the Arbites which caused a lot of public order problems since most were killed in the five collapses of the Great Spire.
The Second was the “Most Glorious Hall of His Most Holy Emperor’s Beloved Adeptus Astartes” which was an attempt to have an Astartes Chapter founded on the planet. it failed miserably but the Governor refused to admit defeat and only poured even more money and lives into it’s construction.
The City was Destroyed when the rioting population, unsuppressed by the now much depleted Arbites, stormed the Capitol and the City was overrun. The Governor holed himself up in The Hall of Majesty and sent reports that a Chaos Cult had overwhelmed the city and demanded aid. He was answered by an Inquisitorial response force who simply nuked the city from orbit, destroying everything and declared the planet “contained”.
Now the planet occupies a key place that must be captured in order to maintain contact with the Dark Side of the Imperium and so war has once again come to the City of Justinia.
Derelict town falling to bits . No sentient life visible. Danger lurking round every corner. I name this town Lurgan
lol I fell in love with a girl from there once…
That has to be a story for an XLBS!
The scatter terrain is easy then, bottles of a legendary tonic known to cure all woes!
Lurgan Champagne!
The Clone Wars stuff is going to be huge in my local group and I’m very excited.
The Prequels are one of the best stories that was extremely poorly executed and badly acted (plus those horrendous Gungans) and has so much cool stuff just waiting to be explored. What was it 5 seasons of Clone Wars plus the Two Movies meas we’ll see so many epic Jedi and Droids.
If anyone hasn’t seen the best breakdown of Star Wars ever I direct you to Alex Jones explaining Star Wars in under 3 minutes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKm4ueVuxpY
THEY’RE TURNING THE FRIGGIN’ WOOKIES GAY!!!!
lol
also don’t forgot the two amazing clone wars series that tied episode 2 and 3
Clone Wars is a great series. The really good stuff is at the end though but it’s very worth it to see so much cool stuff.
Genndy is a fantastic director it was really great seeing that samurai jack style brought to star wars. Shame the episodes were only 10 mins long
It’s the Weekend!!
Truuudvaaang looks interesting, but nowadays a pile of plastic looks daunting and I’m not yet convinced about the gameplay elements.
OK, the Apocalypse table, hmmm…
The planet is called… hmmm… TABEL, and it’s where Space marines from all over the galaxy come to… umm… EAT, yeah that’s it… Eat, the third building is a big canteen where Spacemarines come to eat! There are long tables where, after collecting their meals on a tray from the Emperor’s servery… That’s it, it’s called “The Emperor’s Servery”. anyway after getting their food they sit at long tables to eat. They recently had to build an extension allowing bigger chairs and tables to accommodate the Primaris.
That means the second building is… umm…the Kitchen obviously. You have to have a kitchen to prepare food for the canteen! This is staffed by bad-ass Sistas, especially the chatty ones who are disqualified from the Sisters of Silence. Every now and then there’s a kitchen uprising from the sistas getting fed-up with being treated in a sexist way who run off and form their own Legion officially recognised as the Adepta Sororitas, which I believe translates as “capable sistas” (What do you mean that’s being sexist, it’s not like GW give a f**k – have you seen their typical female sculpts?)
Anyway, back to the table… sorry… planet TABEL. The first building is where they process the dead bodies from previous battles to produce meat for the kitchen and is called… “Building One”. They call it that because they don’t want anyone to know what happens in there! Bet you thought I wasn’t able to think of a good name…Hah!
Given that the input to B1 (that those of us too lazy to type out the full name call it – damnit – using 99 characters to explain why I’m saving seven) is a mixture of various species this inevitably means that there will be Spacemarine and other human body parts in the mix. It’s believed by many that it was actually the consumption of high levels of Spacemarines by Spacemarines that led to the Primaris! Other stories of special serums etc is just spin.
The other thing is sometimes the body parts processed by B1 have travelled a long way and often go off/bad. This leads to some Spacemarines consuming this and falling ill. That brings us to the last building, B4, otherwise known as the “Officio Ass-asssore-um”. The tower is in fact an inverted cess-pit as due to some strange physics s#it their s#it is lighter than air. Any that fail to fully recover are shown the back-door, many of whom then run off to form new legions called the Chaos Spacemarines. The whole Horus Heresey story was really just an Imperial PR exercise to cover up their true origins.
There you go, not only have I named your table “TABEL” and explained each of the buildings; I’ve also come up with believable explanations for some of the SM background. Makes more sense than that Black Library drivel anyway!
😉 not much offence intended to those of you heavily invested in the 40k world!
soylent green is people!
Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see…
that suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
The game of life is hard to play
I’m gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I’ll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.
suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn’t hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger…watch it grin.
suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
is it to be or not to be
and I replied ‘oh why ask me?’
suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
…and you can do the same thing if you please……
queue James Dean Bradfield
While I fully appreciate the context of these lyrics I hopefully don’t need to point out that there’s some deep serious s#it in them.
Should anyone seriously consider that suicide is painless and is something to be taken or left as one pleases, please seek some help based upon up-to-date thinking about such matters as PTSD, depression etc.
Samaritans in the UK – call 116 123
The planet is Carbopluviam, found in the Septentrionalem System, which is part of the Herberinosa Galaxy, located far, far, away…oops wrong IP.
Carbopluviam was a relative normal planet, except for one thing – how fanatically religious its populus was. Many miracles, visions of the Emperor and other Imperial Heroes (notably a lack of Dark Angels o-O) and many mysterious icons and artefacts. Many of these icons were claimed to have certains powers, the priests on Carbopluviam claimed they channelled the will of the Emperor, and all the troubles on the planet began when these claims started to investigated by Inquistator Oryctolagus Cuniculus. What he discovered, and unwittingly unleashed on Carbopluviam, has been redacted from Imperial records, but war rages on, Chaos, Imperial, Tau, Eldar, Ork and even Squats battle today searching for the power of whatever Oryctolagus found in the city of Destitutum. Rumour has it though that a 3,000 point Nid army is on the way to devour any Squats that have entered the city!
The first building is the administrative centre of the Cult of Ludum. It was here that Oryctolagus first begin to investigate in Destitutum. Priests tried to hide many of mysterious artifacts that were stored here when they felt the gaze of the Inquisition on them, but Oryctolagus was resourceful and discovered things that no man, even an Inquistator, should ever see… The locals called this building the Fluminis Casa.
The second building was a shrine to the Adeptus Astartes. The chapter it was dedicated to, is little known, but the Cisternina Deus saved Destitutum from an Ork invasion, 300 years before the present times and the people worshiped these marines as gods here. More sinister dealings have been thought to have occurred here, and ultimately this shrine to the Imperiums finest warriors may be the source of all of Destitutum’s woes. This building was known as the Ecclesia Stercus.
The final building was the jewel in the crowd of the Cult of Ludum. It towered over the city, showering the populous of the city in the glory of the Cult of Ludum – literally showered as the architect placed a large fountain on the top and much golden rain fell on the people – a warm golden shower you could say. Hidden deep within this building is the source of the Cult power, what this source of power is, we do not know, but war rages over it. Another place of worship but also of sacrifice, and not just goats! This building was the Aurum Stillæ Pluviarum.
Ok, I need coffee after that!
Must resist naming table anything political…. although if the tall building isn’t at least nicknamed Trump towers for reasons (I have my background ??)
You could call it Clamp towers and have lots of little gremlins. I mean termagants running about the board
would the little gremlins be clampets then?
good morning everyone
the heat is finally gone 41.8 º ?
I love the Bolt Action: Korea figure (MASH) now I’m going to whistle all day the theme song from M.A.S.H 4077 ???
Those MASH minis might break @sundancer!
https://youtu.be/ARt9HV9T0w8
and it’s technically not a new system if it’s for display purposes, AM I RITE ?
Stop pressing blood from a stone (aka money from my wallet). But, to be honest, if any of my local store would carry them… they somehow would find their way to me…. I fear…
So I’ll stay at home. for ever.
The warlord resin might be a good material for extra heads? A tiny bit lighter than metal, and perhaps a more attractive material to those non-metal believers.
And those KPA are so nice. Agree with Warren about the love for the person or persons whom painted them up… They have really flicked my shiny syndrome switch on these!
They’ve done them for SPQR so I think they will change them all in time from metal. Just a matter of when
The Chinese PVA sounds like an army who would stick around for a long time…
I also had to rewind when Gerry said the guy would make a great spotter, I actually thought he said train spotter and was wondering if Lloyd had invented a new game!
Cheers mate, I had a blast painting them
I really need that Mash squad – it brings back memories of being allowed to stay up late to watch the show on BBC2 when I was a kid. Fingers crossed warlord does the helicopter ambulances with the patient bubbles on the sides.
Now, how shall I build “the swamp” in 28mm scale? 🙂
I’m looking forward to picking up some of the Chinese and Korean infantry. You could use the Chinese for the civil War in China just prior to Korea, 1946/7-1949, though fighting between the Nationalists and Communist factions goes further back to pre-WW2.
I think that entire sector is one big Administratum centre, with many branches represented. But the big tower I would name the Basilica Administratum and that is the primary hub of governance. Filled with thousands of Administratum clerks whose sole job is to oversee the rest of the facility, whose job in turn it is to manage the rest of the planet. The large tower would probably be the seat of the planetary governor, its not big enough to be a primary space port but it probably has (had?) a private spaceport for use by the governor and their family and staff. The height not only facilitates the private space port but also serves as a perfect symbol of Imperial Authority over the planet. From their loft seat in the stratosphere the governor sees all over which he holds dominion.
Now I think about it, I think the whole complex should be the Basilica Administratum. Like a cathedral to the sacred administrators of the Imperium. The spire needs a new name.
ill try the big tower out for a name. I was thinking The Spire of The Heretics. The bottom of the building is a front administration, followed by prison cells, the troops that are deemed heretics and outlaws are brought up to the top of the tower to be thrown to their death as a “final fall from grace”
THE CITY OF ANSWERS
This city is the sanctuary of humanity, where the spiritual power given by the Emperor to his children gathers. And that makes it the most vulnerable place in all galaxies. When this city falls, everything is lost to the darkness for ever.
Building 1 = THE COMMANDERS HALL – There, all commanders receive their final consecration. Whoever harbored any doubts will find his destiny in these halls
Building 2 = THE CATHEDRAL OF THE LOST – Where all fallen souls can find peace Many have left, but their pure souls have resisted chaos. They will find comfort here and form the force field of the city
Building 3 = THE TOWER OF ETERNiTY – Anyone entering this tower promises to give their life in the fight against chaos within a day. The top-of-the-line teleporter transports these mortals straight into the middle of the galaxy’s bloodiest battlefield. But watch out, this teleporter is open in both directions.
…and so it beginns…
With GW naming everything to make it sound like Latin the very obvious and predictable name for the massive tower would be Bigus Dickus
Constructed by the Erectus Maximus?
How about keeping it simple for for the actual city
Culranius Imperialis
For some of the buildings like the one that’s going to have all the skulls in I can picture as a tomb full of the emperors heroes so something like Sepulcrum of the Chosen.
I can also imagine the large tower as something like the Tower of Babel so referencing trying to reach the God Emperor like the Eternal Stairway.
I quite like the idea of Warcry only having Chaos Warbands because they’re not really mainstream chaos, they are more like Necromunda gangs than chaos warbands. Apart from being barbaric, aggressive and violent there is nothing about the Warcry warbands that really looks like Chaos as we know it. I would like to see some other warbands, maybe something like the Fyreslayers could work or maybe a bunch of human mercenaries from the free cities, but I am not really convinced that I want to see Stormcast stealing the show again.
At the end of the BA Korea segment they talk about the tickets for October probably being gone by now.
I get that the segment is pre-recorded but the guys in the main show didn’t follow-up or clarify that at all.
I haven’t seen them offered yet – have I missed it?
Talked about it last week in the segment on warlords organised play. They will be announced to backstagers first but haven’t been released yet. I forgot Charlie had talked about that in that interview
I saw that last week and have been keeping an eye out so when I heard them saying the tickets might all be gone I was ‘wait, what!!’ so thank you for putting my mind at rest.
I shall keep an eye and ear out on tomorrow’s show to see if there’s an update.
MASH is a great show.
I think you’ll find it’s spelled M*A*S*H 😉
Well, the way I spell it is MASH.
The City of Kolrayne on the planet Kult
The Kolrayne Muster Ground is a vast complex of stately buildings which opulently demonstrate Kult’s allegiance to the Imperial creed. Ostensibly, Kult is a compliant world that takes great pride in supporting the Imperial fleets as they come to collect their tithes of conscripts, initiates, and psykers. However this show of allegiance would seem to some to be a bit too keen, raising suspicion that the High Lords of Kult have hidden agendas that they wish to hide. Perhaps one day in the not too distant future, some of these agendas may become exposed, bringing war to the shores of Kolrayne…..
Building 1: The Senatorial Muster
Under the official gaze of the High Lords and officials of Kolrayne two important ceremonies occur. Firstly, when the armed forces off Kult have cause to go to war they assemble on this parade ground amidst huge ceremony. Thousands of native citizens whoop and cheer as the might of Kult’s armies form ranks and board their ships. Secondly, when the Imperial ships come to collect their tithes, the conscripts and novitiates pass out through the exalted gates and march towards the destiny that awaits, again amidst great ceremony.
Building 2: The Conscriptorum
This is where the conscripts pledge their allegiance to the Imperium prior to passing out through the Muster. It is a very religious ceremony, full of pomp and fanfare. The families of the conscripts are allowed to attend and are made to feel that their young offspring are off to better things. They omit the part about the average life expectancy of a novitiate in the imperial fleets…..
Building 3: The Astronomicon Navigatorum
High in the tower the most powerful astropaths communicate with the Imperial fleets as they come to collect their tithes. The role of the astropath is held in very high esteem by the wider populace, however once admitted to the Navigatorum the psyker is never allowed to leave. In addition to the regular communication with official Imperial channels, the High Lords of Kolrayne have other messages to send and receive. The risk of these communicae becoming leaked is far too high to allow any knowledge of them to leave the tower.
@lloyd the baneblade variant you are referring to is the storm lord.
That’s the one, give this man a biscuit!
A chocolate Hob Nob I hope
I was thinking something with Emperor in it. Something like Sanctuary of the Emperor or Home of Emperor’s Blessed.
Great weekender as always – looking forward to get some stuff for the Korean war – Thaks Charlie for showing those great models.
Have a great weekend guys
Enjoyed watching MASH, I do fancy building a Korean Bolt Action army. Enjoying the show I look forward to watching every week. Thanks.
City Name: Horizons Light, due to it being a lighthouse in the past for ships in orbit.
Justins Building: The Undercroft, an old mausoleum for priests.
Johns Building: Angels Reach, an old Adeptus Arbites building.
Gerrys Building: Fulgurs Folly, an orbital lighthouse spire.
For those interested, I put together a story below to talk a little bit about each building and the city.
Commissar Cadet Derius Johntree jogged through the streets of Horizons Light, the sky above dark with clouds charged with static energy. This world rarely saw light other than the flashes of lightning generated by the constant roiling and rolling thunderstorms of its atmosphere. These huge storms moved perpetually around the world making the planet almost invisible from orbit to both instruments and the naked eye.
The orders he carried had come directly from the Commissariat and with only three left he was looking forward to getting back to his billet having a shower and getting some food, it had been a long day.
With a limited fuel supply until the main tankers landed or the cities pumps were brought back to life the use of vehicles was well above his pay grade. It has been good to get out after being on the ship so long but now he had had enough and just wanted to sort out his kit and get settled in.
Before him loomed his next stop, The Undercroft, or so it had been nicknamed, like many of the buildings around here it has been hit hard by the last war and what had once been a mausoleum for priests who had gone to the Emperor’s side had now become the barracks of the 214th Atillan Rough Riders.
Passing through the entrance Derius was surprised by how few people were about. The fallen masonry and dust of decades had been cleared to leave a fairly spartan area. Slowing to a walk Derius moved up the stairs to the first floor, here Guardsmen were manning the passageways and he was challenged for I.D. Satisfied they gave him directions to the units Commissar and he set off orders in hand.
Another level change led to a bridge and as he passed over it the sound of liquid running below made him realise how quiet the city was. You never really noticed all the noise until there wasn’t any. Imperial cities were full of sounds, the constant chatter of machinery and people normally neverending but here in this old battlefield and soon to be a new one, the lack of those familiarities made him feel uncomfortable.
Entering the courtyard between the wings at the back of the building the return of sound and unfortunately smell was immediate. The whinnying of horses, the guttural dialect of the Atillans was an assault on the senses after the calm of the corridors. All around him and up onto the tiers above the horses of the Rough Riders were stabled. A figure in a black leather brushing down a horse caught his eye. Jogging over Derius transitioned from a jog to march to a sharp halt. The crack of his heel slamming into the courtyard as he came to attention caused the horse to whinny and snort in his direction.
The Commissar turned to face him returning the salute and taking the proffered document. With little more than a nod he turned back breaking the seal to read the words within and Derius set off towards his next stop.
As he crossed over the road Derius could see the Space Marine statues standing atop his next destination. Angels Reach nicknamed for the Space Marines upon its highest point, it had once been an Adeptus Arbites control centre for this part of the city.
The bulk of the main building had been made up for the judicial arm of the Emperor’s law and been specifically designed to house and deal with the criminals of this world. Now, much in the same vein, it housed this areas Commissariat branch. Ideally placed and designed to be easily fortified this building had all the hallmarks to house the worst of the worst. Its proximity to what must have been the most important building in this city at one time making it an ideal staging point for forces if needed.
Moving closer to it’s shadowy from there was a definite difference in its design. The stone seemed to absorb light, it felt dark and claustrophobic. Strangely this made him feel more comfortable, like the interrogation levels he had spent a lot of his time training as a recruit in on Kolaris Prime.
On crossing the broad street and entering the foyer of the building the area was much busier, Adepts, Ad Mech and various branches moved around the entryway and Derius quickly made his way to a set of tables with various units junior soldiers sat behind them. Seeing the unit insignia of his next set of orders he had the Lance Corporal send a runner who quickly returned with the unit’s Adjutant. Another salute and another set of orders delivered, one more to go and then back to his room. Turning Derius began to head back the way he had come but a voice stopped him.
“Sir, no need to go that way, I see the next one is for the engineers just behind us, I could take you through the old prison block. It should save you a little time and it looks like the weathers changing.”
With a nod to the private, Derius let him lead the way. We made our way back down a level to the ground floor and passed through what must have been the prison block.
The door to the prison block was heavily reinforced but stood open, the cells either side of the corridor also bearing reinforced doors, there was no bars or glass, no flaps or shutters in the doors which seemed strange.
“Private do you know why the doors were designed this way?”
“Ah yes sir, it seems that although these are the cells this area is also a punishment block, much like the tower of pain below the Space Marines in the other part of this building. With this world being almost always dark due to the atmosphere and most of its light coming from the storms the Adeptus Arbites designed these cells to be in a state of perpetual light as a form of punishment. In fact, the only place that the prisoners would find darkness is in the tower of pain where they would be subjected to other forms of punishment. Eventually, the prisoners would go blind at which point they would be sent away to become servitors. The worse your crime the slower they would blind you in these cells.”
“Hmmm fitting I suppose, I always find it fascinating how individual worlds and cultures justice systems are influenced by their environment and or traditions.”
“Here we are sir!” Passing out the rear left of the cells another heavy door stood open. The gentle patter of rain ahead caused Derius to button up his jacket to the neck and with a nod of thanks he dismissed the private. He checked his cap was positioned correctly and pulled his jacket tighter as the wind picked up.
A flash of lightning lit the darkness revealing the tower before him, Fulgur’s Folly. He had caught glimpses of it on his way here and it had seemed a tall structure. It stood now a mere fraction of its former size but still impressive, the area before him was swarming with engineers and their vehicles, in between them were the Adeptus Mechanicus beavering away to bring this once marvel of a bygone age back to life. This was why they had come to this world and this was why they would likely all die trying to keep hold of this world. Having lost contact more than a century ago it had taken this long for the Adeptus Mechanicus petition to go through the channels and a force of considerable size to be put together and transition here. This tower was one of the last of its kind and could only be found on this world. The location of the STC for these massive constructs was thought to be hidden in these towers machine code. They had gained a few nicknames since we had arrived, to the Militarum they were called Emperors Sceptres, to the Ad Mech they were the God Machines Fingers but Derius liked the reference that had been found in the local manuscripts. Fulgurs Folly.
It seemed that millennia ago when these were being constructed it had been thought ludicrous to try and harness this planets thunderstorms lightning energy. For centuries people had tried and tested different theories and technologies, whole schools of academics had lived and died unable to achieve their goal but each time they got a little closer. To the academic community as a whole, this small cult of theorists and engineers had been ridiculed and ostracised, the fruit of their unachieved labours design being nicknamed Fulgurs Folly due to its link with lightning and the almost identical planned use of the lightning to diathermically affect the thunderstorms. But the final laugh came when Ethania Klausemann came up with a new form of glass made from the minerals found just a few hundred miles from Horizons Light. This newly developed glass had been able to hold, syphon or redirect the lightning’s energy through a combination of reflection, refraction and magnetic field manipulation. Whilst still unable to fully harvest the lightning potential it could take in a significant portion and allow it to be stored, the remainder would have to be redirected through reflection and refraction lest it overload and destroy the held charge. This excess was found to be useful in an unexpected way by redirecting it into space these towers became lighthouses to help navigate the planet’s atmosphere for ships orbiting and would also break up a storm in the area of the discharge for a short amount of time allowing an easier transition for orbital transports.
When fully functioning this thing would have been a sight to behold, the thunderstorms crackling around it and striking down with bolts of lightning only to have that energy harnessed and redirected in the form of a pulse back into the heavens from each of the major cities. It is even documented that the various cities pulses were unique and could be distinguished by ships sensors so you knew you were at the right location.
With a final glance at the sea of bodies before him and having located an Engineer officer Dercius headed out into the rain to drop off the last order packet. He already knew what was inside it. The ships in orbit had picked up multiple objects moving through the warp towards the system and not just one group either, units were being ordered to come to combat-ready. It seems this world would once again be exposed to the horrors of war and looking at the leering faces of the gargoyles upon this cities walls, Derius wondered if that was what they were all grinning at.

Nox is the primary Officer academy of the world, used to train both PDF Officers and Imperial Guard tithe Officers in strategic training and battlefield combat planing, Nox can be turned in to a military strategic HQ, incase of the loss of the Gourvenor Bunker, or the PDF HQ defends facility´es, as it contains an extensive underground bunker complex.
2: The Sanctum of Eternal Light
the Sanctum of Eternal light was constucted, after the liberation of the of the world from Xenos durring M30, build to remember those lost and the warriors of the Adaptus astartes who brought the light of the Imperium durring this dark perriod, the Tower was blessed as a holy site by Arch-Cardinal Benedictus VII in late M36.
3: Ons Tableus Topa – the Spire of Beasts.
The OTT spire also known as Spire Gerrius in honour of its arcitect, its a construct of true marvel, build with constuction metods and technology, no longer possible to duplicate, tho the bombartment caused it damage, it still stands as a becon of defiance of the Caldrex people, tho it may stil function as a orbital fuel tower.

What would be nice is if Warlord did Chinese heads in German and British helmets, as that would make kit bashing WW2 Chinese nationalist armies a lot easier.
Thanks for the show, great as always. The NKPA models are sweet. I’m visiting Warlord Games in September and hope to check them out first hand. I looked over the town and grotto terrain on kickstarter before but now so much is unlocked I need to look things over again. My best to you all, now back to work on that apocalypse buildings.
Welcome to the city of Bestien des Krieges.
Towering over the city is the huge mansion of Governor Lloyd. The huge spire of the mansion dwarfs the city and atop the spire is the huge frowning grimace of Governor staring over his domain. There can be no mistake who rules this city.
Beside the spire is a cathedral to Saint Warzan. The official story is that Warzan was lost leading the Astra Militarum during an attack the nearby Chaos held city of Auf dem Tisch. The truth, however, is that Warzan led his men to Auf dem Tisch and gathered the heretic armies to him pledging his soul to the Choas gods. He hungers for power and control of Bestien des Krieges and gathers his forces.
The final building is a long administratium where the endless legions toil under the stare of Masters Gerry and Lance. Under the “urgings” of Governor Lloyd the administratium is gathering information on anyone who possibly disloyal to him and, more importantly, anyone who may be loyal to the real Warzan and his chaos legions.
When Warzan finally invaded the Governor’s spire was the first to fall.
Nice show.
And this time i will win the M.A.S.H.
MASH! Moooore! 8)
First building is obviously a shopping mall…
Second building is the local cinema…
Third is the local swimming pool with the tall tower housing the water slide…
City is Milton Keynes… a desolate hell hole if ever there was one…
It might be just me early on a Saturday, but I immediately thought that you guys had 3D printed Sam (in miniature, of course) with the above thumbnail. Sam in a Hawkeye bathrobe with his martooni.
That is how I dress every morning upon arriving at the office.
And if Lloyd can have a country, I dub thee Hive WARZAN with the buildings/streets named after the wife and kiddies.
A name for one of the buildings:-
Janus Universal Scientific Tracking Information Network Building
The Janus Universal Scientific Tracking Information Network Building (usually abbreviated to ‘The J.U.S.T.I.N Building’) is the planets main data storage centre, housing many of the most important and secret files on the planet.
It stands as one of the planets biggest and proudest… constructions. 😛
The city could be called Centrum Tabernum. A recreational city where citizens worship at the Temples of St Wilkos, St Argos and St Asda.
The planet would have to be called Phallus 1 (not to be confused with phallus 2 and 3 as they were cheap knock offs) the equivalent of Soho in the far future of the Imperium. A dark seedy place where all manner of transactions are legal and if not then a blind eye is turned. Phallus is known as the pleasure capital where no kink or perversion is denied those seeking it granted all they desire. Rumors abound regards the corruption, smuggling and dark practices practiced here, but they remain just rumors as Phallus is a strategic refueling station for both man and machine headed for the vageenal sector and ultimate conflict.
The local spoken dialect is strange for what should be a standard Imperial planet and incorporates double entendre at every chance, winks, nodding of the head and general tomfoolery mixed in make this a challenging place to navigate safely.
Ships refueling here do so with full security at Defense stations to prevent valuable stores and provisions from being stolen it also minimizes those requiring shore leave as with any stay a crew can expect lose a few souls to who knows where or what.
In recent months strange whispers of monsters and aberrations in the dark places have been bought to the attention of the Imperium and conflict has erupted across Phallus 1 with the arrival of Imperial agents and forces.
The city of Prolapse 3 where the local governing family the Dingleberries hangs out is one such place. The Dingleberries came from nowhere but soon made their presence known creating an air of pain and suffering. Everywhere across the city you couldn’t sit down without knowing the Dingleberries were in charge. The head of the family Sidjamus the third was a large red faced bloated man who’s black featureless eyes were said to pierce a persons soul to see all laid bare. He held long lavish parties that lasted for days and built immense phallic towers across the city their use not discernible and often a mystery. Some were simply pleasure palaces and places to gamble away meager wages putting you in servitude to Sidjamus or worse. Others were later found to be manufacturing and medical facilities mainly for organ replacement and modification, the clientele a mystery. Some partially destroyed evidence suggests small arms weapon manufacture and on a rare occasion bio experimentation but these findings were speculative at best and not confirmed.
What is known certain is that prior to off world intervention there was a steady decline in both communication and revenue from this world leading to concerns. A small imperial frigate was dispatched to reestablish communication yet within hours of reporting their arrival they too went silent. Initial reports of signs of city wide damage and signs of conflict were their last transmission. Remote surveillance equipment activated onboard later showing signs of intense combat and taint the bridge crew ripped to pieces. Of the imperial guard garrison protecting the refueling station there remains no contact all presumed dead or captured by as yet an unspecified force.
your task should you choose to accept it is to investigate prolapse 3 determine the whereabouts and condition of imperial forces and establish a secure base of operation free of any taint. The ultimate gosl of your mission is to cleanse and raise Phallus 1 back to its former glory and strategic importance as sector refueling station.
a strong Phallus is esential to victory!
yay the weekender.
love the work on the battle tables good luck to the winners.
Something I just came up with for the Apocalypse 40k table.
Warzanopolis
Warzanopolis was a massive city under the rule of the mighty warlod Warzan. He renamed the city and destroyed all history and replaced it with his own. During the time of the Great Crusade, the Space Wolves came across this system. Warzan was so taken by their ways that he accepted the rule of the Emperor and Leman Russ. This way he was still able to rule the city like he was before. He even built a temple to revere the Emperor and so show that he submitted to the rule of the Emperor.
Unfortunately during the Horus Heresy, Warzanopolis fell victim to Fulgrim and his Emperor’s Children. The Emperor’s Children overrun the city in days, just the mighty warlord Warzan and his royal guard was able to hold out for weeks. They slaughtered everyone and when the loyal legions finally arrived there was nothing left. The Emperor’s Children had left leaving the corpses to rot in the streets.
The Seat of Warzan (Building 1)
This building was the seat of power during the reign of the mighty warlord Warzan and the last building to fall to Fulgrim’s purge. The might warlord Warzan and his royal guard where able to fight off the Emperor’s Children for a couple of weeks in the corridors of this building.
Temple of the Emperor (Building 2)
This is the temple the mighty warlord Warzan had built to revere the Emperor and Leman Russ. This building showed that he submitted to the rule of the Emperor.
Warzan’s Dong (Building 3)
This was a tall spire which was built to hold prisoners in the massive spires. Here they were tortures if necessary or executed if this is what the might warlord Warzan desired. On the lower floor this was also the military barrack for local militia. Any escapees would have to go through the barracks first, making sure they’re caught and/or killed.
Yes, the full name is “The might warlord Warzan” and you should always call him by his full name.
@lloyd its (keep it simple stupid) the saying.
brilliant show guys the new models in the kick starters are great the hell gate looks fantastic.
Warhammer Beastgrave Take them to the cleaners Osprey 🙂
I’m holding out for some Chinese for Korea.
Out over the edge of known space sits Stella 5, the fifth planet of the Stella system. Where many people have traveled past into the far reaches of new space, yet not many have returned and they who have send back horrific tales of their sightings, destroyed worlds picked clean of all basic life forms.
Here on Stella 5, the main city has been destroyed many times which has become known as Ripper, many time has evil forces smashed against its defenses and always, in the end, these have been repulsed.
Ripper was supposed to be built to be the last bastion of the Emporer a staging point to expand into the unknown but which was only put on hold, now for two millennia, after the Horus Heresy rebellion.
Ripper was well known once for its beauty, its elegance, a beacon of hope to all travelers but now stands in ruins. the few last places left standing are relics of a time long past.
Now forgotten by man, only a few know its whereabouts, even fewer know worth to humanity. But its enemies do, chaos rages, much blood is spilt and time is running out.
building (1) was The Hall of the Last Repentant. Sisters of Silence Monastery. A place where only a few are sent never to return. Their faith broken and yet there Will still remained strong, death and only death would be their salvation.
building (2) was the High Lord Septurs domain. The imperialism headquarters building on the planet Stella 5.
building (3) was the Holy Church of the Last Scion built after his fall into godhood.
building (4) was the Star Lab, your way to the stars. The free port of the Questor Imperialis of House of Davidson.
Bastion Bastardus
(Affectionately referred to as the city of bastards)
The long building is clearly the Grand Hall of Hotdogius – where Marines come from all around to compare and enjoy long cylinders of heated meat. A little talked about but famous delicacy in the grimdark.
The tall spire is the Primus Hive Angellicus Levitatus Legionus Uplift Spaceport – delivering marines to the spaceheavens in under 1 second!
MASH box is great, I love character special sets like that. Adding them into your army makes for such a fun little extra ?
City name: Beast’s Hold – Archon Sector
Due to internal struggles and even rebellion activities, the city has been nicknamed “Beast’s Hold” for such a long time, its official name has been resigned to the history books. Centuries ago, the streets were not safe to walk. Tactical marines were deployed to keep the peace and APC’s such as Rhinos were not an uncommon sight on the roads. Millions of stone faces were carved into the floors and paths as memorials to the millions who had lost their lives in the struggles. In recent years, the internal conflicts have died down with the news of a more imminent threat appraoching…
Building One: Forum of the Emperor (a.k.a Catarium)
Constructed as a government building to investigate claims of heretics in the local area, it has seen itself used for a number of different uses, including a building where commanders gave announcements and orders to the legions of Space Marines ranked up below, a make-shift infirmary and lately, returned to its role as a government building. Due to the local populas stating the building is where the “Big Cats” congregate, it has been given the nickname “The Catarium”.
Building Two: Tyran Memorial Infirmary (a.k.a Bonesmith)
Renamed after the fall of Tyran to the previously unknown threat of the creatures now called “Tyranids”, this infirmary has remained a constantly used building and has retained its original use for centuries. When overcrowding insues, some patients are transferred to a temporary infirmary in the Forum building, but as much as possible, patients are tried to be kept in one location. Due to some rumours that some Apothicaries had attempted “Unnecessary surgury” in an attempt to construct more Dreadnoughts, this building has earned the nickname “The Bonesmith”.
Building Three: Emporers’ Light (a.k.a Lantern Hoard)
One of the tallest buildings in the sector, the Emporers’ Light is used as both a communications tower, and also a light beacon to make low-flying craft aware of both their position on the planet and that there are tall buildings present. Due to the large number of flashing and flickering lights that adorn the tower, the locals have given it the name “The Lantern Hoard”.
With this, this shows that this is the Prequel to the OTT series of Kingdom Death Monster. Justin’s character used to be a Space Marine (With a Microphone). Hopefully in this hobby weekend, we will see the origins of Warzan, Chris and Abby, before the city falls and the White Lion attacks…
Great show as ever guys. Really wish I could get to the weekend event. Maybe another time. 🙂
So hyped for Korea. Thinking a Peoples “Volunteer” Army to start me off. Still catching up with my WW2 British though!
Been following the board build on YT. Can’t wait to see it finished. Considering the condition of the buildings I suggest the name Govan. After an area in Glasgow that makes Mad Max look like Neighbours. Seriously though the space lift idea sounds great, like the forces of chaos smashed the space lifts so the citizens couldn’t escape off world and they’re all prey for Chaos unless the heroes of the Imperium can arrive and save them. The building John called the Cathedral, it could be a small vehicle or arms plant too with the walkway carrying the chassis to that end of the plant before they’re finished and rolled out the big doorways.
Finally, speaking for myself, I prefer all digital stuff left away from the table. I played DnD recently and my buddy was always on his phone until his turn. It drove me up the wall.
Another Great Weekender chock full of goodies this week. It the City of Veritatium with the Convent of the Adepta Soraritas and the Ecclesiarchy HQ. Ohhhhh Yeah its MASH 4077th I grew up watching this on TV back in the day before it started in with the reruns! One of the few times my wife wanted something on the show, she is a huge fan of the show and wants it!
Delighted Warlord have marched Bolt Action into post-war 20th Century. It shows the potential to cover other other conflicts. I’d love to see supplements for Spanish Civil War, Vietnam, etc. Please make it so!
The MASH unit look very swish.
Bolt action Korea looks like a new way for me to spend my wages.
comment from bellow.
Elleah is a city of the imperium located on planet Kishar IV.
Elleah has been fought over many times, various Ork warlords have tried to raid the rich lands, Chaos have reared their heads, but Kishar IV always held firm.
The last invasion though came from within and caught all by surprise. Whilst working in the Goriium Mines the miners uncovered a Necron Tomb. The feeble and corrupt government fearing they would lose their profitable world, tried to keep it secret hoping that the Necrons would not wake. But when they did, they swiftly overran the worlds under prepared defences. Elleah was the last city standing, where the depleted imperial guard made their last stand, as the city was bombarded from all sides a company of Space Marines arrived heading the plea for help, their arrival bolstered the defence and eventually the imperium fought off the Xenos.
Though eventually the battle was won the city lay in ruins, the population was depleted, and the space marines gone. But the potential wealth remained so the imperium would be back in force one day but for now the ruins belonged to the gangs and pirates who were drawn here scavenging the once mighty city of Elleah.
Building 1 – Bareith Guild House
In its day the impressive guild house welcomed newcomers to the world of Kishar IV, the impressive building proclaimed the wealth and self-indulgence of the Bareith guild members. Their greed would eventually bring down the entire planet and almost obliterate the city of Elleah. The guild house was almost levelled but the remaining shell still casts an ominous shadow as you arrive in Elleah, if you are mad enough to visit.
Building 2 – Shrine of Vern
The first governor of Elleah was called Lando Vern and he established the city as a vital trade port within the imperium. When he was killed during an Orc raid, the impressive temple was erected to immortalise the great leader.
Building 3 – House of the Fathers
This building is dedicated to the fallen Space Marines and Imperial Guardsmen who fought to win this world and hold it from the numerous invasions. The name is meant to represent the generations that came before that perished.
Inspired by the competition this week I sort of got onto a roll.
Hope this checks all the boxes.

Never thought about doing Korea
Looking forward to that Centurian tank. I’m liking the Korean War stuff, but even if I don’t get into it, I will be getting the Centurian for use in Konflikt ’47.
BUILDING NAME SUGGESTIONS:
Captain Alpha Strike’s Towering Erection
Table Name Suggestions:
Lloyd-ertopeia-eropolis
Being from Chicago, the tallest of your spire buildings reminds me of the Tribune Tower…(if only I could post a picture here in the thread…but take a look I think you might agree) with that idea in mind I was thinking maybe this was the headquarters of the ministry of propaganda…maybe “The Imperial Tribune Spire” or Turris Tribunus Imperatoria
Good show,
The city should be called Old Nutopia to give the place a sense of age, gravitas and inevitable crushed optimism and decline,
as to the buildings I’ll have think some more on
Go on, I’ll take a stab at this literary lark.
The planet of Coleraine Prime was once a desolate Deathworld, it’s wide open planes scattered with cluster of dense forests. From within these forest emerge the Great Beasts. These Beasts were feared by the local planetary populace for, at irregular times the Beasts would congregate and make War. These titanic clashes shook the planet to it’s core and the people suffered: barely able to make ends meet in those trying times.
These Beasts of War still roam the planet, making their presence known, but the planet now exists under a new order.
For then came the Imperium.
The great Hive City of Tabula Vertice was founded by the planets great architects: Justinius, Warrenicus, Lloydinum and Gerriasus.
They created artifices to the Heroes of old, crafted edifices with rare materials imported from off world and built the world as a beacon for all who would join the Imperium in their ascendance. For centuries the might of humanity was raised on that world and it’s rulers could look upon it with pride. But all things must fade.
War came to Coleraine Prime. Not the war of the ancient Beasts but the war of Mankind. Internecine war, driven by the great theological questions of the age. Prime and Base or Prime as Base? 10mm, 15mm, 28mm, 54mm? To use the Scouting Phase Rules or to not use the Scouting Phase Rules (or to only use the during Campaign)? These questions divided the citizens of Tabula Vertice to the point where they took up arms against one another in order the test their beliefs in the crucible of a Holy War.
Now the once great city lies in ruins and it’s streets are host the seemingly unending running battle between the disparate force that wage war across the city. But rumours abound of a great many of the powers planning new offensives and preparing for a great confrontation where winner takes all: the Hive’s worst kept secret. This coming battle has garnered a bizarre name amongst the locals, expecting a great reckoning: The Apocalypse Weekend.
On the topic of MASH, read the book then watch the movie, the tv show is one of the greats but the honesty of the book and the understanding of the new system for triage goes well with the, “this is no shit” stories that help lighten the mood of what could be a dark time. The book is a great look at the people stuck in the horrors of war and how each mentally survives to make it home.
For the city, Principia Lupus Felix
Originally a forward operating base located around and old ruin now a province capital.
Justins building
The Primarcks redoubt, an administrative complex expanded from the old military headquarters
The Cloister, centre churchy bit
the big spire,
wolfs fang, a building predating the current city used as a navigation point and store house by the original garrison after they discovered it during patrols, currently used for FISH and CHIPS training (Fighting In Someones Home and Causing Havoc In Peoples Streets)
as for M*A*S*H I think i’ll grab a set to use as medics for other theaters
Love Bolt Action. New releases look epic.
The MASH figures look good.
The planet of Salubris was in the same cluster as the infamous planet of Caliban and as such was folded under “the protective wing” of the Empire at the same time.
The planet became a hub for resources being funnelled towards Caliban in order to create the Dark Angel Legion.
Futarus, The capital city of the largest land mass on the planet, has long been in ruin. The city is the last defensible structure on the surface of the planet. The mining that took place when the empire arrived left miles of under ground structures that the remaining populous call home. Their shame and pride as a planet are complicated by their history.
When Luther betrayed Lion El’Jonson
it was proven that some of the original Fallen were from Salubris and this harmed their standing in the eyes of the post-hersey Dark Angel chapters and the Empire in general there after.
That said, some of the most famous sons of Salubris joined the ranks of the Disciples of Caliban and their very own sub chapter The Talons of Salubris.
The Tower of Babelus Nuntius had been the key stone of local interstellar navigation, but since its destruction, being cut to a tenth of its original atmosphere tickling heights, it now acts as a speeder hub for the scouts that still patrol the surrounding area. The spires have become home to the snipers that marshal the ruins.
The tower overshadows the Church of The Blessed St. Guinfort. Even though the people followed the Saviour Emperor theology, the naming of the church after an old myth had been permitted in an uncharacteristically empathetic decision by the Ecclesiarchy.
The planet had originally been forest covered much as Caliban had, with similar wild and dangerous animals roaming it. Sir Stanley Guinfort, much surrounded by myth and legend, had purportedly been a knight defending an ancient king when he had been bitten by a wolf like creature. Sadly as the King’s party retreated they saw Sir Guinfort transform into a werewolf. The King had little choice but to commit to finding and killing Sir Guinfort to protect the populous. Before the King could arrange a hunting party a storm blew in. Lightening struck a manor house not far from where the church stands now and burst into flame. As the King and his Lairds visited the scene they heard a howl. Sir Guinfort lept out of the Manor with a baby in his mouth. The king killed him. The baby was mysteriously completely unharmed. The servants of the Manor rushed to their king and explained that Sir Guinfort had burst into the building, freeing them from certain death from the encroaching fire and on hearing a baby crying upstairs had lept through the flames to save the child. The King was overcome by sorrow and regret. Sir Guinfort’s innate breeding, humanity and sense of duty had been such that he was even able to turn back the infection of his wulfen state to protect his people in an emergency. This example of fortitude and humanity had earnt his Sainthood.
The tower of The Blessed Church is topped by the statue of 4 Space Marines holding vigil over St. Guinfort’s grave, to warn against being quick to judgement and to atone for and learn from your misdeeds.
Beyond the cloisters of the church begins the Palace of the Viceroy of Salubris.
The Empire wasn’t initially accepted with open arms and a brief insurrection was swiftly and mercilessly put down. A strong chancellery with a Viceroy was installed over the Constitutional monarchy that had been in place.
The peoples of Salubris since the Cicatrix Maledictum have no longer been governed as strictly as before, but manage to keep a populous of a few million mostly subterranean humans fed and affluent by maintaining mining deals with the Empire as far as their small trading fleet can carry them.
The core of the Talons of Salubris chapter are at war against the rising Chaos plague in the neighbouring sectors. Sadly any army, Chaos or xenos, that arrived here could easily overpower the defence forces. Only a handful of Space Marines from the chapter remain defending the underground archives. Under strict orders not to involve themselves with whatever happens on the surface, because evidence of the betrayal on Caliban and other secrets known only to the inner circle are stored there.
Transmissions have been intercepted that in the coming months newly assembled armies are due to land in the once proud city of Futarus. The last of the meagre crops are being harvested, earlier than is ideal, in preparation of their battle weary surface becoming the battleground for an unwelcome host. The great blast doors will be sealed in the hope that the Empire will come and rid their plant of this fresh torment.
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.
Is the competition still on?
My idea for the city name is Terminus Imperatoria, which roughly translates to imperial border. And for the building how about Tribunal Supremum, supreme office.
MASH
Planet: Aeris IV
Aeris IV was first brought into the Imperial fold in in the early days of the Emperor’s great Crusade, while the Emperor himself still personally led his Space Marine Legions to war, and before he had been reunited with all the lost Primarchs. While the planet was overrun by a Minor Ork Kingdom, and hosted no human inhabitants, Mechanicum orbital survey teams had determined the planet was rich in mineral ores, particularly copper, and exploitation of those mineral resources would greatly advance the Emperor’s war effort and humanity’s galactic expansion.
Ten thousand years later, Aeris IV is still a prosperous, if pollution-clogged, Mechanicum mining colony. Its considerable mineral resources are mined, smelted, and refined in vast manufactorum facilities before being ferried through the Immaterium to forge worlds across the sector. The City of Savior’s Landing [city] servers as the planet’s religious epicenter, and most inhabitants will travel there at least once a year to pay homage to the Holy Emperor of Mankind. Just beyond the city’s expansive spaceport lies the Pilgrim’s Gate [Building 1], a massive structure through which all supplicants pass on their way into the city. The teaming masses press their way through the gilded main gates, as Ministorum Priests and Abots, on balcony’s above, preach religious hymns, and spray the crowd with holy water.
Once they’ve passed into the city, most visitors make their way to the revered Hall of Heroes [building 2]. Anchored by a massive tower topped with the statues of 3 of the Emperor’s Adeptus Astartes, the Hall’s towering green marble walls are carved with the names of every Imperial Citizen, Astartes, Guardsman, or Civilian, who has died in the planet’s defense since it was retaken from the Orks in the Great Crusade.
The final destination, visited only by the most strong-willed and able-bodied Pilgrim, is the Zealot’s Ladder [building 3]. This massive spire projects thousands of meters into Aeris IV’s smog-clogged sky. At its zenith, contained within an ancient stasis field, is the plot of soil where the emperor himself first stepped foot upon Aeris IV ten thousand years ago. As the planet’s surface was swept away over the millennia by Mechanics mining operations, the Mechanicum and Ministorum continuously expanded the tower’s foundations to maintain this Holy site at its precise geosynchronous position above the planet’s core. The climb to this holy site currently requires the dedicated faithful to ascend over seven thousand steps into the barely breathable smog-clogged sky.
