itten Games are going to be coming to Kickstarter soon with an expansion to their fun building and balancing board game, Tokyo Highway. Originally released in 2018, a new expansion called Rainbow City is popping up that dives into new mechanics and more challenges.

Tokyo Highway // itten Games

The original Tokyo Highway was a two-player game where you had to pile up columns (using the discs above) and then place roads precariously balanced between them. If you build over or under your opponent's road then you get to place a car from your supply, delicately balancing it on the road using your tweezers!

The person who manages to get rid of all of their cars by placing them on the roads you've built is the winner! Expansions for Tokyo Highway added more players into the mix and the latest project, Rainbow City, will throw in a whole host of new challenges for you to undertake.

Rainbow City comes with a Mission Board that you're looking to try and keep an eye on throughout the game. Alongside these new rules, you'll also get new scenery pieces that help to showcase the splendour of Tokyo as a city. This is as much an architectural endeavour as it is a competitive game and I like the pleasing way this looks when it is finished.

One of the elements of board games that always wins me over is seeing the result and the "creation" of something. I think that's why I enjoy wargaming and building/painting armies. I think Tokyo Highway might have to find its way onto my list of games to play this year.

Are you a fan of Tokyo Highway?
