Over the past year due to COVID-19, everybody has been hibernating inside - and quite a good few people have been expanding their board game collection and burying their heads into some good-clean tabletop fun.

Whilst we were all diving into fresh new board games to keep ourselves and our families entertained in the early stages of hibernation, Jamey Stegmaier over at Stonemaier Games had his thinking cap on, creating a roll-and-write and began to teach others how to play and engage live on Facebook.

After many a prototype and growth and development into a roll-and-write, Jamey had announced on the 13th August that an official pre-order date is coming, and this September, players can get their hands on a brand new and very special roll-and-write from Stonemaier Games, entitled Rolling Realms.

Rolling Realms // Stonemaier Games

Head into all of the realms of Stonemaier - as all of your favourite Stonemaier worlds have been brought together for one giant adventure! And players must attempt to earn the most amount of points over the course of three rounds using a roll-and-write mechanic.

"Each turn, one player rolls 2 dice, and all players use the dice results on their realm cards to generate resources and earn stars. After 3 rounds, the player with the most stars wins!"

The fascinating thing about Rolling Realms is the ability to play the game with friends online. Alike me, you all probably got further stuck into solo scenarios and solo board and card games to get our tabletop fix during the pandemic. However, as this game has been in development through Coronavirus, and has undergone a serious amount of playtesting online - the game has been proven that it truly can be played with up to six players, anywhere in the world.

For those who would like the follow the journey of Rolling Realms, James has been keeping a note of the progress of the game online, including very detailed developer diaries heading all the way back to the early stages and version 1 of the game. You can check out the whole compilation which has been translated over from the official Rolling Realms Facebook Group, here.

If this fun little roll-and-write is up your street, be sure to head on over to the Rolling Realms Facebook Group, where you will find updates from the community and James himself regarding the upcoming title.

There is no exact date as of yet for the release of the game, only the pre-order is 100% sure to be coming live in September this year. If you do not want this one to slip from your clutches and need a subtle reminder, Stonemaier Games have stated that for every person who clicks the button to be notified of the pre-order in the month of August, they will donate $1 to the International Tree Foundation to help restore the woodlands and forestry that we hold so dear. So be sure to click the 'Notify Me Upon Launch Button' which can be found here, to receive updates on the official pre-order date and help save that planet, one tree at a time!

What is your favourite Stonemaier Games world? Mine personally is a tough decision between Scythe and Wingspan!
