FÖRST!
you want another copy of Indomitus ? 😉
Me too 😀
No! Enough! 😉
But,if you did win…
it shall be your punishment for having all the Star Wars Legion 😛
that would be a bit too harsh
Happy Weekender folks! Get some hobby in!
Something from GW costs too much? Where do you get such ideas?
It’s the Weekend by the way!
Who woulda thunk it right?
The Hero Forge site and the contest are really cool. Its fun playing around with the designs.
How much!
Wow, that’s an expensive giant!
An extra show, im in, I didn’t enter a mini but will happily watch others imagination, bring on the live show ?
I do love those play mat books, cracking idea. Frost punk looks pretty grand but this show has been all about raise the black that looks cracking. See you Sunday all.
its show time.
I’ve also done a Justin on Heroforge and it’s not only nipples it’s missing ??
@lloyd has managed to find a way to add every part of the body
I only wish I had the time ?
Damn Right 🙂
Oh, except nipples of course.
That’s too much for people these days.
Happy weekend everyone. I think Warren has done a great job with the 18mm minis for Heroquest. The clear bases work so well.
The Pirate Starter Set looks awesome.
the game mat books look fabulous.
Yooo Welcome back Ben!
Thank you 🙂
Great show. The best bit for me was the mat books run through and @warzan heroquest creations. Bottle that enthusiasm and sell it! What a super tutorial. ? I do like the Mega-Gargant from GW, especially the sea-based version. Although there seems to be far more conversion options than the Mantic giant, I would agree that £120 (if confirmed) is pretty steep even when compared with a 40K Knight unless it’s a special ‘army’ deal with at least one (hopefully two) standard giant(s) chucked in. It’s certainly not something you can spend your pocket money on just like that and you’d have to make big decisions on what to buy – continue with building an existing army or start a brand new one with a single massive miniature which will take time to be expanded to a proper all-gargant force. With a bit of luck OTT/BOW may have a mega gargant as a Xmas prize competition please? ??? Keep up the good work! Looking forward to live show on Hero Forge competition and XLBS on Sunday. Just the motivation I need to get back to the painting. The weekend starts here…
it is confirmed £120
oh and the giant has gone from £40 for one to £100 for two
Remember when plastics used to be cheaper than the similar product in metal or resin?
Black Scorpion Miniatures are re-running their KS for the Cutlass Giant (same size and £30 cheaper than the GW plastic one)
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/69613072/the-cutlass-giant
I do wonder when the bubble will break with GW prices, they really do seem to be “pushing the envelope” of late in experimenting on just how much they can charge and get away with it of late 🙁
The double box of old plastic giants going UP in price (instead of down for a multi-buy) seems to be indicative of that.
I think what’s most galling is that the giant was £25 when first released. That the exact same model 14 years later is now £37.50 is ridiculous.
I’m a tad disappointed with this pricing strategy for the gargants as £120 is akin to some of the specialist kits from Forgeworld and they are resin rather than cheaper plastic. I feel GW missed a trick in not creating a discounted army bundle for the gargant launch, even if limited in release. So the decision to start or not start a gargant army is pretty clear for me…
the giants will be great in an army like in jack the giant slayer.
Lets have a look then…
I’ve always thought the IS3? would be good for an alien invasion tank.
I picked up a mantic giant earlier this year – great price and a nice (big) model
I’ve two standard and a frost giant, they’re lovely for the price and even at £50 frosty is more resin than plastic and still worth the extra
black beard he gets old and go’s grey Lloyd.?
a fabulous show guy’s
Im pleased to see Blood and Plunder qith a box set.
Good show. People will still spend money and buy the gargants. Not me though. Shocking to see how much stuff on GWs site is sold out. Thanks for the opportunity.
The Wargames Atlantic Resistance fighters are the pick of the bunch for me this week. You could also use for VBCW (ECW3), and Spanish Civil War (what with all those berets). Going to be an extremely useful (and kitbashable) kit that many will end up buying. Bit of a “ninja release”, as they hadn’t leaked info before now. I wonder what other stuff they are working on (in secret)?
Wonder how they are trying to make an army fun that consists of about 3 models.
In the same way they made Imperial Knights fun with two or three models I would imagine. They won’t be for everyone but I’m sure some folks will enjoy the idea.
I will NOT give GW 120pounds for a Giant, On the other hand the Blood and Plunder …. Well I am in for Pirate Hunter so far and debating the Admiral or just adding the Collectors book
Two questions when’s the video of the mini entry’s and what is xp for this website for?
Every time I see @warzan produce something new for Heroquest, I realise how badly they have done the relaunch. Quite honestly they should have taken Warren on as a consultant to revamp the game. Even forgetting the lack of game play changes, the distribution debarcle and the crowd funding farce, (I know, quite the litany of failures,) Warren’s simple bling changes have brought more life and community interest into an old dead game than Hasbro has. I actually played it with the kids this week. Nowhere as good as I remembered sadly. Warren, post your adjusted rules please.
Those Hundred Kingdoms are amazing! I’ll be picking that up.
That Inomintus box is sweet, picking up necron and SM codexes tomorrow.
Curse you guys…I had always wanted to run un undead army for warmaster but never got around to it. Thin it went into the realm of very expensive to acquire. Now you show me 10mm undead, lined up for warmaster….in STL…and I have a resin 3D printer and copy of the warmaster rules (which fell mysteriously out of the interwebs….). Due to this turn of events , I am now morally obligated to begin said undead army and draw my gaming group into the dark abyss of another system and scale…Oh bugger… 😉
Another indomitable show! Thanks guys.
Wow that is a lot. I can never justify the cost given prices of other manufacturers. You can buy entire armies for that price!
Oh wow it is really hard to create the wide swinging arch of the Barbarian. I tried although it does look like he’s dislocated his right shoulder.
I’ll show you anyway, the Ouchie Barbarian
https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D10586071/
The new miniatures in the Indomitus box looks so good that they actually tempts me to get some marines again after 20 odd years to paint up.
The Frostpunk board game also looks cool. Now I just have to try and play the 10 other games I have before buying a new one 🙂
GW charging more for miniatures than any other company……why would anyone in the hobby be surprised!
Happy weekend people!
The most interesting release for me this week is the Wargames Atlantic resistance fighters, no wait the mats/books from LOKE ….too many games too little time people.
Hope everyone keeping safe
£120 for a plastic giant is bloody ridiculous, but some people will still be rushing to get one because they’ll never remove their GW blinkers.
Mantic have shown them up with their own range of giants….
GW = Greedy W*****s
Just started the episode.
Man hero forge does look good..
May be time to dip my toes with this Blood and Plunder KS.
I propose the Gargant as our new post covid unit of currency
Good looking models but the price is the reason I don’t play any GW, right now at least.
I absolutely love Loke BattleMats. They’re so well designed and thought out. We use them for Kill Team games. Great show as ever. Have a fantastic weekend guys!
Finally back and hobbying on a Saturday morning with the Weekender!
Happy Weekend all!
The Games Workshop Gargants are really nice models and I like the idea of havin a giant army but the Price is way too high. It’s a bit sad, there was a short time where Games Workshops prices were still high but not this stupidly high. Mantic’s giant is also quite nice. And the Indomitus box is just great.
The prices of those GW Giants, big oof. I’ve been recently looking over my old White Dwarf issues and it really stings seeing blister packs could go for £3 and now this.
That being said, I always appreciate new factions being added to games. I like most of them in AoS but not *quite* enough to pull the trigger and start collecting one. I’ll have to content myself with solo gaming for now while Nurgle keeps this COVID thing going.
Happy weekend to all.
How come we are still shocked at GW’s pricing ? You think we would know by now,but every time they have a ( not necessarily ) big kit release it still shocks us to the wallets core. They’re not alone in funky pricing, but are by far the market leaders, but not in a good way.
I’m looking forward to the Oathmark skellybob release,i want a box to mix in with my WA skellies and the Erehwon horde i have already. The Conquest stuff looks amazing, but i’ve promised the wallet that CMON’s ASOIAF will be my desired rank & flank type game.
cool weekend … I love BattleMats i have everyone so so far waiting on the new kickstarter to come 🙂 ….
OOOOOOHH, that box of Indomitus has me all aflutter. I have subscribed and shared and dinged your dong, can’t say fairer than that.
A Gargantuan price tag!
Boxes for the box god
Freebies for me (*fingers crossed, freebie may go to another lucky winner)
A giant rip off! ?
Conquest Mountain Jotnar. €60 plastic multipart with loads of customisable parts (3 heads, ball joint arms and armour options plus accessories) and its 14cm tall and a bulk at 10cm wide at its shoulders….
And thats what I would consider top end price… 120 for that goofy cartoon looking pile of crap (subjective opinion) confirms GW as unworthy of my attention.
GW charging too much!!! Are you sure?
I thought that Smaug the Dragon was a bargain at £340… that’s why I bought a hundred…
Although I could be lying…
Those playmats look nice and are utterly ruined by the spiral binder in their middle. If they would have used “slide in” sleeves to hold the actual mat then the thing would have cost a little more, but it would have been truly modular. My OCD is triggered by uneven square sizes where you marry them and the fact that you probably can’t use the entire square on the row with the binder.
I like the plastic ships. Need metal cannons though.
The Blood & Plunder Starter looks awesome.
Good show this week lots to take away just not sure my bank account will like it much?
Great show. The partisans are a definite buy when Atlantic games announces they are ready. I play Blood and Plunder, really great game you guys out there. I have so much already (I even 3D printed a whole port town) I am having a tough time thinking through adding more. But, at the price point and all you get…I believe I may have to put my wallet on life support. I also play 40K so feel free to pick me for the win :-). See you all tomorrow.
The hard to find Indomitus box?! Wow happy weekend!
Man the Garda ya do look sweet
@warzan Played around a little on HeroForge, and it still needs some improvement, but I got pretty close (I think):
https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D10606223/
@warzan great job with your HeroQuest, I loved your wooden case so much I searched it online and ordered it directly. I need this for my D&D DM work. Now I just need the STL for the DM Screen option you did.
I like the look of the Blood and Plunder box set
The Forest Dragon undead are amazing.
I joined them on Patreon. You get the stl for the individual skeletons as well. I printed them in 15mms and they look amazing. The heroes are especially good in 15mm.
Thing is, I don’t have room to buy one of those giants anyway, but if they were cheap enough it could have swayed me anyway.
Struggling with the mantic giant, that’s a steal at the price.
Very nice.
I could use a first copy. 🙂
That is a seriously expensive ‘giant’ piece of plastic.
I’d already pledged for the spec edition of Frostpunk before watching this as I love the PC game so much, but great to see it featured here as well!
The big, big guy is $230 here in Canada. Guess it wouldn’t be GW if it weren’t ridiculously marked up, though…
Good to see @brennon back
Well, really Gargants aren’t priced any differenlly than any other item at GW. Let’s face it, it’s all over priced. But we who play or collect GW game pieces will keep paying what’s asked. That just the way it is.
They look to be nicely sculpted. Can’t argue with that. Does he high price make it a bad model? No. If you count price as a value of art then you are missing the point of art.
If you want the model in question then pay the asking price. Anything else is just whining.
IMHO
Just when i was looking at not getting any more 40k, you gits go and offer up Indomitus.
Great show guys, and a big well come back to Ben. You
ve been missed, Had a feeling Warren had cocked up with last weeks comp. From what i have seen, theres a lot of winners, but in the end there can be only one.Mantic or GW for giants, its a no brainer really it has to be Mantic
s giant for blood and plunder. What do you mean, theres no giants in it. Go tell it to the time bandits then.Happy weekend!
The Meets Mat is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, i got nothing to add on the Gargant front, everything has been said 😉
Very tempted by Blood & Plunder but, i ran out of room to put new stuff in! Plus, we can’t really play now and already have to many games to play…
See you guys on XLBS!
$380nz! not including cost of delivering the GW giant… I never liked the big fatty type, used to the lanky drunken types of “Old School” Warhammer. Never pay for such a thing, the amount of styles and companies out there now gives collector/gamer a choice.Back in 2003 they brought out GW Gigantic and it just did not fit with my Green horde theme so I made my own with plastic card, wire, milliput and covered it with greenstuff, it even had two Empire troops scratchbuilt. Cost of supplies was under 30 dollars and hours of learning techniques and gaining patients.
The GW Gargant will be ridiculous price, but it’ll have so much more versatility than the Mantic giant… but then of course the flip side is you’ll have a pile of bits that you’ll be hard pressed to use, I feel.
Unless of course you want to convert yourself a three-headed, six-armed Chaos Gargant! Are Chaos giants still a thing in AoS? Do I care?!? ?
Good morning everyone.
I feel left out. Everyone else seems to own a copy, so now I want one! 8)
Feels like yesterday I bought the box for 8th now I need to buy (or hopefully win) another one 😀
Exccelent Warren meets mat, show does miss them.
Particularly relevant to myself at the moment as I have just bought Warhammer. Roleplayer.
Another Great Weekender Guys! Those GW Gargants do look cool but your right about picking up the Mantic giants instead for a massive savings. I’m all excited for the Blood & Plunder Kickstarter with those cool new miniatures and ships!
I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can’t deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
The quallity of the giants it´s doubtless but the price it´s outrageous.
Each with their money can make at is wil but…
The Mantic miniature it´s a fine miniature at nearly 1/5 of the price and the same size.
My attempt at the heroquest barbarian: https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D10663174/
Brilliant episode once again. Laughed so much at the Gargant’s cost versus Blood and Plunder and Frostpunk ;’D
The mega-gargants look great, but they are sure overpriced
Ha ha ha ha ha – @warzan – I said you would regret the Hero Forge competition – and low and behold……. 🙂 I looked through about 30 before I thought I had spent too long!
The GW giants don’t really do it for me – I think it’s the pot-bellied shape. The Mantic ones look far more aggressive.
Those 10mm sculpts are insane. So utterly beautiful – but I’m damned if I could paint them! My eyes are not as keen as they used to be, and I’m sure I’m starting to get a shaky hand when painting details. I think 15mm is my limit!
That Blood and Plunder set looks awesome – obviously you’d need to wait for the KS to end, and then have to wait for everything to be tooled, produced, printed, boxed, shipped, etc. So probably have to wait 10-12 months before you can handle anything tangible. But I may have to dive in, just because it looks so good!
Frost Punk looks interesting, but it’s not really something I would play, so it would be a pass – but good luck to them.
@warzan What resin 3D printer did you use to make your Hero Quest minis? They look amazing!
Happy Weekender!
If I played KoW and had armies that could field giants,i’d go Mantic all the way.
great show as always!! happy week to all
It is amazing how many companies are doing sales on giants at the moment.
Hero Quest looks cute
Crazy to think you could get indomitus for the same price as 1 giant. All my 40k and Warhammer in recent years as either come form the magazine series or second hand.
Happy late weekend! Didn’t have time till now to watch. PS would love to win that mighty box 😉
Woo Indomitus! Well this teaches me to wait to check out the Weekender.
I wonder how long the short list is.
The mat looks good, and it shows that Warren loves it 🙂
The Gargants look amazing
Best of luck with the Wayland hook-up, guys.
I liked it better when the Mega-Gargants were produced for the Orks.
10mm undead seem like a good addition to roleplaying games
It’s great to see Heroquest still has fans
Hello all,
What a week it has been! Both good and bad
The legends are true. A long lost fabled treasure of Indomitus set is found. It is time to go on a (hero)quest to retrieve it before the evil necromancer(scalpers) can take it
I’m late to this as usual. But really like that Raise the black! I’m going to watch the video now! Unfortunately I already have an entire French force and ship! Hmmmmm!
