It’s the Weekend!
Are they called Squats because their arse and thigh muscles are massive and they can clean & jerk heavy metal objects?
In my mind, Tales from the Loop has to be set in Sweden not the US. That’s where Simon Stålenhag grew up in the Malaren Islands, just South-west of Stockholm. Look at the game map and you’ll see it’s almost identical to the real islands with a few names changed.
I understand the commercial reason why Fria Ligen created a parallel setting ín the US for those lacking the imagination to live elsewhere. Similar reasons to why Tom Cruise’s War of the Worlds wasn’t set just outside Woking. The main reason I gave up on the TV series.
But if we can imagine and play in fantasy, pulp, historic and sci-fi settings, why not rural Sweden in the 80s?
Great interview with Stålenhag from a couple of years ago: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/apr/14/tales-from-the-loop-author-simon-stalenhag

Last again! ?
Last comment wins. 1-2-3-go!
Squats eh. Altogether now “DIGGY DIGGY HOLE!”
always first,always number 1
Hmmm ???????????????
Friday! Friday!
The weekend already? So glad this week went by fast.
So much from animated Star Wars can be added to Legion… Ahsoka, Bad Batch, Rebels and numerous bounty hunters.
I’ve only dipped my toe into Legion when it was on offer, but the Shadow Collective lured me in and it’s preordered. Looking forwards to more Scum and Villainy…
just pray you can get it at all …
I wanted to like the game, but the momentum was quickly lost once I realised practically nothing was available in webshops.
Happy weekend all,
I hope its filled with gumdrops and lollipops and the greatest movie ever made.
who needs a golden button when they’ve got the greatest movie ever made ?
Isn’t that reward enough ? 😉
the golden button and I are one. that is the secret
@brennon On Star Wars: Legion. After the Shadow Collective next up is the 40th of Return Of The Jedi next year… so I guess there will be those. Ewoks where already confirmed by AMG. And then there will be the Battleforce PDFs up “soonish”. Also a new homepage by AMG is en route for may (according to Asmodee Germany who had a long talk with AMG)
just there for the brother in law to make money for his kitchen refurbishment
Ah cheers for the update!
and the 64000$ question : will they ship stuff at regular intervals or will we be gambling on wether or not anything is available at retail at all ?
I think that remains to be seen…
I think Flags of War are also going to be doing a KS for Border Reivers this year too.
they are, I have them, but I figured there was no point in talking about something that hasn’t happened yet and doesn’t have a firm date
Yo Yo Yo its weekender time COGz
My favourite miniature is Bellenah.
I am in the Gerry school of 3D printing
until someone designs realistic men and women from the past.
Let see who will produce a Romanian WW1 army.
Yay Gerry does fun with flags.
so Justin shots is a thing now then?
@brennon and @avernos Rook Kast appeared in the Clone Wars series 7 the siege of mandalore arc (Final 4 episodes) also rumoured the Armourer is Rook Kast. Gar Saxon’s first appeared in Rebels and they added him in the same story arc as Rook.
The only live-action appearance of anything from the shadow collective was the Pyke Syndicate in the book of boba and it’s not said who they work for as during this Star Wars period Maul (has been for over a decade) and his criminal empire is gone.
I have been schooled haha. Cheers for thr update!
Ooh warriors the game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV4cgs-bPic
what’s the bets the squats will make the primaris terminator suits?
Lol sorry I’m late miss I had to shoot my lift to school.
Idols of torment. I would find a use for a ton of those plastic minis should they appear.
the terrain for the echo game looks fabbullouss.
Ooh planet jojoba.
fab show guys.
Damn. I need those black cobras in my life
I would say the best raging heroes figures was the Greek Gods set guys.
It’s the Weekender! Hobby on Gamers………..??
.
.
I really want the new GW Squats! They do remember me of AT-43 gorillas, which were my favorites from AT-43. (Side note, I still use my AT-43’s Karman’s for my ‘DUST’German Army!
.
.
I will be ordering the new Star Wars: Legion starter box. I need a Pike Army for playing-out ‘the Book of Boba Fett’ scenarios.
.
.
I can see printing the flowing seaweed from ‘Epic Bases’ for my ‘Idoneth Deepkin’. Also the crazy crystals and stuff like it for my Moonstone tables!
.
.
Love the ‘RAGING HEROES’ HIGH ELVES OF THE ETERNAL SUMMITS II and really like the idea of the giant Lion in armor with Great Axe! I can see using these in AoS. Fantastic!
.
.
Have a look here to pre-order the legion stuff.

My favorite miniature is …. the axe elves because I think he appeared in the GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE.
Happy Weekend, I am glad to have this as it’s something great to listen too while I hobby, this weekend I had the option of trying to take old plastic Rivendell archers off their old bases for the War of the Ring Project, or start work on The Other Side starter set. I’m doing Japanese ghosts, it looked easier.
My favourite miniature is clearly Ylmaneth, Guardian Of The Azurian Path, absolutely gorgeous!
@brennan s “Oh god, I’ve made British Clansmen” made me chuckle – I had a similar thought when I accidentally painted Irish Tricolour clansmen a few years back.
—
I like the look of the squats, I’d probably stick helmets on them and pretend they are a stunted alien species underneath. I think GW would have been better off introducing the Demiurg as a faction, but made them into a proper alien species – something new, but still give them the “dwarf in space” flavour that they were hinting at in the background. There’s no need for them to be another human sub-faction… it’s a big galaxy.
—
Star Wars – yes bring on the animated series minis…
—
Loving the Dystopian wars stuff but…. the floaty-hover bots…. why are they connected to flight stands at the front of the miniature??! thats just bizarre.
—
great steampunk details on the train station from that warlord kit – I’m continually amazed how the quality of these lasercut kits keep getting better.
Oh wow, I love the aesthetic of IDOLS of TORMENT. Would be fun (and super quick) to paint up a table and models in that style. I’m with @avernos though. I ain’t printing nuffink. But I’ll empty my wallet for physical models!
Popeye was apparently based on the chap called Frank Rocky Fiegel
My favorite miniature from Raging Heroes is ; Ylmaneth, Guardian Of The Azurian Path // Raging Heroes
One thing almost no one gets right is the characterization of the ‘Abhumans’.
They spend a lot of time – and page space – telling us that Dwarves, Elves, Ogres, Halflings are different from Humans, but then write them as though they’re just short, cranky Humans, tall Humans with pointy ears, really big and slow Humans or even smaller Humans who love to eat.
The writers being Humans who cannot get out of their own heads….
I love the Star Wars Legion stuff, just wish folk round my way would play it.
The Flags of War miniatures are pretty sweet. I can see myself using them in Silver Bayonet.
Squaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaats!!!
Squats? Don’t care, just play Forge Fathers. 😉
Legion however, I’m hoping that the large Pike battle droids from Book of Boba Fett make their way into the game soon as mercenaries and as a shadow collective heavy option.
Frankly most of the stuff in that show probably qualifies for the Shadow Collective.
We also need to see more Rebels content!
BY the power of beer and bike oil
As regards Squats how will they be released I think the answer is whatever gets GW the most money, so eventually pobably every which way Ben described will be how there avaliable. Also in the original Horus Heresy epic, Squats were an avaliable army (Land Trains et al), so are they actually going to be part of the 30K Horus Heresy first before 40K Grimdark….
My favourite miniature is the Leonid axe warriors.
They look great.
Huzzah!
I went on a nostalgia bing with restarting 40k… Now squats return.
My Favourite Miniature Is, Centre Piece.
Think I’ve got to the point where minis don’t do it for me, now scenery pieces on the other hand have a lot it potential.
I’m liking the Carthage must be Destroyed stuff, i’ll be having a look.
My favourite miniature is Elerial & Alariel – I know it’s a classic Raging Heroes centre piece, but remains my favourite miniature (sisters together) they’ve ever produced. ?
Happy weekend (still is for me 😉 )!
Finally some more Star Wars Legion! Hope to see some more too 😉
So, squats eh? The first model looks good, color me intrigued!
My Favourite Miniature Is Ylmaneth. It has to be the one for sure. Looks awesome!
I don’t even know those Star Wars groups from the cartoon etc, but they are pretty cool looking none the less.
My favourite miniature is the Leonid Axe Warrior.
