Foist! I think that there’s so much going on with minis that my wallet is going to suffer badly again this year. More insane projects to come.
Dang it! XD
With THAT mini popping up on my screen I suddenly had to see what was going on with the Weekender. No chance at getting here before me Pundancer!
Speaking of minis popping up:

Bring on the OverTheTop Northern Irish chaps!
Got to find a use for some of those Black Scorpion undead Pirates and Cowboys!
Black scorpion miniatures look really nice
Happy Weekender Team!
Win plastic…oh, that would be nice.
I look forward to the Weekender every week!
There is so much new stuff on the market it makes it hard to decide where to spend my hobby funds. I’m a die-hard historical tabletop player but just started dipping my toes into 40k. There are more people in my area playing 40k.
How long to you think it would take to break even on investing in a good 3d printer instead of buying pre-made kits?
Thanks
Meh, not sure about the Black Scorpion stuff. It made me wish i still had my 3rd Warhammer Fantasy Undead Army… some of those models would have made nice “coachmen” and the like to add among the ranks of the undead. Maybe i need to go through it and see if anything could maybe be used for Malifaux. I do like some of those undead pirate heads. And there was also one or two female models that might be suitable.
There is a very compelling argument that the original novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a political analogy of US Monetary Policy in the 19th Century… Gold (standard) Brick road, silver (standard) slippers, industrialists in the east, farmers in the west.
It’s the *wheeeeeee-k-ender!* …
Black Scorpion really delivered when they ran that Wild West kickstarter.
Great stuff for a more ‘serious’ Wild West game.
Happy Weekender All and to All a Happy Weekend ? I think the pirate living in Jim’s Tavern at the start of Treasure Island was Billy Bones, blind Pew tracks him down. Great to see such lovely minis from Black Scorpion, bought the halfling fantasy football team few years back and it’s a cracker. Love the Dwarf Pirates may have to pick some up and incorporate them into Arcworlde and maybe add some undead to the existing undead range from the 2nd edition. Thanks for the show.
Hi everyone
We will all have fable’s about surviving the corona plage.
Also I think I bought some Black Scorpion miniatures a few years ago when BoW started making the Go For Your Guns western game. Still waiting for the Beta release, then I’ll hunt the minis out and get them painted :p
Those new W40k minis are so … wow
Happy Weekender!
I’m really interested in the new rules for the Inquisition. I have converted a bunch of models for Dark Heresy and I hope to use them in regular 40k.
@warzan the mithril hunter.
Owls an Scots the only animals born drunk? Lol although I waited for my brother’s two weddings to try.?
Yay Weekend. It’s felt a long week!
Nice one Guy’s.
It’s the Weekender!
The best way to start any weekend.
I’m with you @warzan I’ve been a D&D player since 1978 and a DM since 1979 and I’ve always made my own adventures. I’ve been building the same world of my own creation for 41 years and all my adventure are my own. I was so poor that I couldn’t afford any of the adventures after buying the three core books. Necessity is the mother of Invention! I’ve never had a player say after a game, “I’m so disappointed you didn’t run a mass produced adventure that anyone and everyone is already playing”. I will buy one of those “other” books now and again because it has D&D info not found elsewhere.
I really like the minis at ‘Black Scorpion Miniatures’. I’ll have me some of those pirates and skellaton pirates. Really nice stuff.
I find myself getting itchy for the 9th edition 40k. Any hints that pre-orders start Sunday? ?
So many shinies!!!
Why GW are you producing such nice Necrons. On other news, thank you for continuing to produce these showing some of the smaller companies. Looking at getting several minis from others that you have shown.
Stay safe and keep gaming everyone.
Black Scorpion Miniatures look fun
Very nice.
Enjoy the Fable soundtrack
Happy Weekender Mini Lovers! 🙂
Black Scorpion cowboys are amazing. I’ve still got a few knocking around waiting to be painted up. They look really cool on the tabletop. Their Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett characters are really, really good.
Hey guys, thanks for introducing BattleSpace, I’m definitely going to give it a try. I’ve been looking for a modern solo play combat game.
2 fuselage sections would need 4 wings on that particular set up cause of the wing attachments.
If Warren has lots of 3D printing to talk about on this weeks XLBS I might have to pack a picnic lunch 😀
Love those Black Scorpion minis, what better than pirates? Whats better than dwarfs? PIRATE DWARFS!
@warzan this is who the villain is as that cover image/miniature of the Icewind dale book is about – https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Auril
ANOTHER INTERESTING SHOW. LOVE THE STORY ABOUT YOUR MOTHER AND THE BALOONS. WARREN, A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO ON XLBS YOU MENTIOND THAT YOU HAD WATCHED A CALVARY MOVIE THAT WAS IN COLOR AND YOUR MOTHER MADE YOU A UNIFORM. YOU HAD SAID IT WAS IN COLOR AND MAY HAVE STARRED JOHN WAYNE. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE ONLY CALVARY MOVIE JOHN WAYNE MADE IN COLOR WAS THE HORSE SOLDIER WHICH ALSO STARRED WILLIAM HOLDEN. IT WAS ACTUALLY ABOUT THE CIVIL WAR. JUST THOUGHT I DROP THAT ON YOU TO SEE IF IT STRIKES A CORD. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. ENJOYING MY MEMBERSHIP I DELAYED SO LONG IN JOINING.STAY SAFE.
Love the black scorpion stuff!
War of Oz looks amazing.
OH nice, you can do a late pledge on Printable scenery. Thanks for point that out.
One of our group rocked up friday night with the printable scenery crashed plane all printed. It was bloody brilliant. The details are awesome and the size of the complete thing is huge. Will be using it in fallout games.
MOAR ! I want MOAR !
Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion has my attention. I love Gloomhaven but having an intro version would have been nice to learn all the rules correctly. If the models can be used in the full game that would be awesome.
Man Black scorpion has great models. I had a ton of their old west.
Really liking what I’m hearing about 40k 9th too. I’m excited to jump into it in this Ed. When I can.
Happy weekend!
Woop it’s the weekend … and I’m not working a Saturday woo! Excited for new 40k and all those shiny necrons
I wanna make some ork freebootas now!
Fantastic Indie choice with Black Scorpion, i bought some of their pirates & undead pirates…must’ve been about 9-10 years ago now, sculpts and resin quality was brilliant, and they painted up really nicely as well. Still some of my fav minis i’ve ever painted.
Another great show, glad to see more Moonstone again too 🙂
Another show in the bag, another week closer to normality, happy gaming folks
that is a fantastic prize
I’m building an Imperial Guard army for WH40k but planning on adding some of the Inquisition to it. A smaller model count means I can get a bit more creative, and they’re the coolest fascists in the whole of the Imperium (real life fascists – not cool BTW, really not cool).
Awesome episode. For the Silent King!
Is the sh1t printing 3D? Oh god, he is. Here comes another half hour of waffle 😉
@avernos I’ve got an online paint order on the horizon as I’m fast running out of essentials and going to a meatspace shop is dangerous these days. You’ve been pimping those new vallejo metal colour paints for a while now saying they’re the best. Have you ever tried Darkstars? If so, how do they compare? They’ve really impressed me. I get through a lot of P3 Pig Iron as my generic iron/steel colour. It’s similar to Leadbelcher, which I know is not everyones favourite. If I were to buy some of these new Vallejo Metal Colours, which one would fill the niche of Pig Iron/Leadbelcher? I can never tell from online pics. Also any that are must buys while I’m shopping? I see they have a metallic varnish in the range. Have you tried it? Does it restore a metal finish after applying regular varnish or is it just regular varnish by another name?
Also, any chance you guys are going to expand your paint range sometime soon? I’d love a centralised place I can buy all my different paint ranges from without getting rinced on price or shipping?
Treasure Island: Billy Bates was the old retired captain staying at the Admiral Benbow; “Blind Pew” was the pirate that brought him the Black Spot. (Just been rereading this with my son!)
Indormitus sounds great!
Its been a rough old week so thank god its weekender time!
As a recent viewer, I now look forward to this every week. Keep up the great work fellas.
I think Indi of the Week is becoming my favourite part in the Weekender. Good choice again this week. Black Scorpion miniatures are lovely and I have a few in my collection. As with a lot of Independents, the cancellation of Salute this year will affect income and Black Scorpion usually have a much desired limited edition mini for the event, so do support them if you can in these uncertain times because you’ll miss them if they can’t continue to grow and prosper.
IMHO, you guys missed a cool Kickstarter from some guys located in Bury St. Edmunds, UK
If you 3D print for some time you have a lot of left over empty spools. These guys have created Sci-fi buildings using the empty spools and your 3d printer. All the pieces are even held in place using left over filament. So, now instead of throwing away your spools, they can be repurposed for sci-fi terrain. They even have a calculator to help you size to different spool sizes.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/digitaltaxidermy/spool-tower-multilevel-modular-scenery-construction-system
They also have a free sample you can download and print from the KS page.
Worth a look
thanks guys see you on the next show
Thanks chaps another cracking show. Good to see Black Scorpion featured. Have a look at “Pirates of the dread sea” if you want to round out the fantasy pirate minis and games that are out there.
Yup, more $$$ out the door. ?
Happy Weekender everyone.
So, indie of the week – Black Scorpion – what a choice. I had heard of them, but never looked at their site. Now I want to get minis for the old west and some pirates. But I already have so many games, many of which I don’t play! Aaaaarrrrggggghhhh. Add to this the minis for Moonstone. And Wars of Ozz. i’m either going to be very poor or very sad.
And the more I see of you 3d printing stuff, the more I want a 3d printer. But do I have the time to paint, play and 3d print?
Someone should tell them that you can use the middle mouse button on a link to open it in a new tab. When going through a long list of minis, it speeds things up so much.
So can you really have a fun game of 40k and get the experience with their combat patrol variant, is what I’d like to hear about. The model count for their target 2000 pt list is way too high for me to enjoy.
Black scorpion some pretty solid miniatures
Necron’s are coming out of deep storage, or would it be waking up! 😀
Lovin’ those Black Scorpion minis
Happy weekend all!
Enjoyed the show as always 🙂
I am sorry guys this is the first time in ages that the show missed the mark for me. Maybe it was too Fantasy/SciFi/3D printing based, maybe I am having a negative day, but something was missing. Sorry chaps but it was flat.
Who buys RPG books, I thought everyone did. If everyone brought only the rules, players guide and monster manual these companies would go out of business. Not everyone has the time to invest in a fully rounded world. In D&D there are so many different worlds, each with there own character and life, that it takes the background of creating it out and means you can add and weave your stories into in. That is the case with all RPGs and isnt it. We buy the players guides, the new faction or realm guides because if we didnt we really wouldnt follow the meta of the plot and actually miss out.
Just my two pence worth.
That is some sweet sweet pirate dwarves!!
Selling some organs to fund the lust
Another Great Weekender Guys! Those Black Scorpion Miniatures are awesome looking and will be great for many different systems. The crashed aircraft could be used for a Escape from New York scenario with Snake Plissken trying to rescue the President. We had those Wizard of Oz books in the elementary school library and our teacher read them to us.
Happy Weekend and thanks for another fun show.
This Stern/harlequin combo is just striking and a great example of the amazing models coming out now. Glad to see 40K getting the same treatment AoS got.
What a wonderful ending to another stress-filled week. More really nice work coming from Black Scorpian and Warren, but Dominance looked super cool. A little combination of Risk and Civ; both games my son loves, so I might have a look at that. * sigh *
Have a good weekend all and stay safe.
Lol! Gerry’s grognard is showing in this one. You should make a series of Gerry Cans called Gerry Can Rant!
I love Black Scorpion miniatures. Got so many of their pirate minis from about 10 years back. Several Humans and the undead crews.
Might have to go for some of the newer stuff too!
Try force on force, a nice game covering modern era warfare.
Happy weekend,
after an extra long walk thismorning i need something to listen to while recovering
Love that crashed plane, hope we get to see the finished setup. Have a great weekend guys!
I probably put some smartarse remark earlier, but I came back from some responsible exercise and future in-laws visiting full of a need to check out those moderns rules. Battlespace is a complete new one to me. Thanks @warzan for the heads up!
The Weekender!!! 🙂
Happy weekender guys
Happy weekend guys!
I’ll see you CoGs on sunday’s XLBS!
Happy weekend.
Maybe it’s just been a long quarantine but that’s one sexy box of plastic….
I am for the win here too.
Black scorpion minis are always great. And that new 40K set is neat as well.
Nice call on the INdy of the week..picked up a couple dwarfs
Deffo some cool 3d printing content great show guy’s 🙂
Seems weird that they’re still releasing the psychic awakening stuff when 9e is just around the corner.
Too me a while to realise Ben was talking about an Owl Bear and not some character called Albert
That airplane wreck is a natural set piece for zombie games…and is crawling with them.
Picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.
Thanks for the awesome show guys, damn I was sure black scorpion Miniatures was also doing a couple of USMC sets…. they might have pulled them out of print to refocus on their thing. Might have a go at battle space (just cause you know, I already painted all I wanted for my other games… not)
I love the weekend. And the weekender!
Guys, please don’t make me want to play a pirate game. 😉
First Weekender I cought in a few month now. Actually quite enjoyed it again 😀
Is there much point in getting mini Gloomhaven if you are playing in a Gloomhaven group already?
I’m keen to check out Battles pace and Blaster. Cheers gents.
It’s great seeing Necrons finally getting some love.
My long term plan is finally bearing fruits.
My (almost 7 year old) son is now starting to play wargames!
We’ve got X-Wing 1.0 HotAC co-op campaign (Heroes of the Aturi Cluster); so we play together against an AI (Artificial Intelligence) enemy, which is proving much fun. We stayed up to 1am last night, only to lose a mission.
We’re also playing ‘the skeleton game’, i.e. Mantic’s Dungeon Saga; which we do when friends come over to join us.
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of gaming life he has.
Also, CAH (Cards against Humanity) has released a print-at-home family edition;
https://www.cardsagainsthumanityfamilyedition.com/
I was always keen on 3d printing and have collected quite a few designs over the years. Sadly commercial printing costs too much in my country and I would have a tough time explaining to my significant other why I need my own 3d printer 🙂
For now I’m just collecting designs and waiting.
It¨s a shame GW sales new books before a short time to release a new edition of the game, to a high price and in less of a year maybe became obsolete.
I was wandering time ago if i must buy a 3D printer, what would it represent for a diogenes?
Domination looks interesting, but I wish they’d chosen a more limited historical conflict that wouldn’t have left the abstract movement feeling quite so odd…
I am very excited about 40k 9th edition. I am currently building a tau force.
There should be a weekend every day… just to have a weekender every day… 🙂
Those pirate figures are gorgeous, I’m not too much in WW2 but this board game sounds interesting..
Happy weekend to all of you! 🙂
We need pirate Orcs in AoS.
Great show guys. Thinking that those 7th CAV look really nice. That is the one aspect of the Wild West that has always appealed to me.
Love the Black Scorpion miniatures, though I am most familiar with their pirates, so need to have more of a look at their fantasy and wild west models.
Blaster vol.1 is a must for me with the variety of games that get some extra content, especially gaslands and Frostgrave.
Not sure about the KS you showed, but one that caught my eye is the Shellkin by Krakon Games
Necron models are making me want to start army even thought I still have liad of nids to paint
I never thought I’d need undead pirates until now. Those Black Scorpion sculpts are awesome!
Good show
I really love those owly Icewind Dale minis!
40K 9th Edition looks promising
Icewind Dale looks good, I liked the novels
Cool stuff
I love your show!
Great stuff!
The models look lovely
So much going on, my wallet can’t take the pressure.
These orks look awesome
love those necron walkers
Great show as always, and thanks for bringing me back to 40k!
Really could do with a copy of Indomitus considering it’s all sold out!
Out of town and catching up, thanks for the show.
Everything is better with pirates.
Love 3d printing.
I really ought to remember to ‘watch’ on both of these platforms…
The pirate minis are epic!
Thanks for the cool 3D print stuff. I use my printer for terrain all the time.
I got a 3d printer and I gone way over board with it
indomitus its a big set loving the new stuff
I like the look of the orc pirates
Loving the 3D printing coverage; keep it coming!
Those Moonstone figures are truly Beautiful
I’d really like to have Gloomhaven
Gloomhaven’s new game looks promising
I love Black Scorpion minis
3d printing it getting harder and harder to resist the siren call of. I might need to look seriously into it going into 2021.
So many awesome models!
The moonstone characters look great – I definitely need a few of those to go in my 3d printed fantasy town.
Very good stuff
This was a cool Weekender!
These look cool!
