August 9, 2013 by warzan
Time for the final part of our basic training series for 'Nam Week, Warren is calling in every bit of air power he can muster to blow up as many of the PAVN forces as he can to see if it would be possible to sneak a win out of what looks to be a very bad day in the paddy fields...

So get commenting and enjoy the week!

Looks like humdinger to me. Will there be a complete battrep
This does look fun.
Warren, my wallet wants you to know that it hates you. As for me you’ve got me interested in a historical wargame, what are the odds!
Warren is enjoying this so much, it’s scary. 🙂
I honestly can’t think of a good reason to not use at least some choppers after seeing this.
guys thx for a great week of nam. As i said bevor iam a huge fan of Fow and i never thought that vietnam could be a so great game. My Fingers are iching to get some of the Miniatures and show the americans the exit of nam 😉 I hope that BF will bring a Starterarmy soon and i bet i could get some of my clubmembers involved. I cant wait to see the game between Warren and Dave. Bring it on guys 🙂
Awesome demo and explanation of the key Nam rules. You mentioned the scenarios….”Tour of Duty’s” Nam scenarios are all very cinematic and FULL of movie moments. Battlefront also revamped the original Rulebook missions for Nam (updated for new victory conditions and deployments) In a PDF on the BF website. So ruck up and get that patrol moving!
The game looks like its a blast. The last real event wargame you can use a flamethrower since it was outlawed in 1975.
Of course if you don’t follow the Geneva convention. Then I guess your army can field as many as you want.
The ones that use diesel fuel are dirtier than the newer one that took napalm which burned hotter and cleaner. But the diesel ones let you write your name in the air if you were fast enuf.
Absolutely awesome looking game, can’t wait to GET SOME!
i didn’t really like the scale of the mins when i first saw them, but after watching flames of war for the win and all the videos of nam week so far you guys have sold me on it and i wont that template of death, where do i sign up hahah
Lots of big templates 🙂 The game really looks awesome, hoping to get some friends into this Vietnam gaming.
Now that is what I call a template. Would have liked to have the seen the result of that helicopter moment.
Great to see some Cobras on the seen. A great series of videos and coverage. Thank you!
Gotta catch yourself saying “Vietnamese”… there were a tonne of Vietnamese on the side of the Americans.
These videos have sold me on FoW: Vietnam, and a Helicopter army.
When do we get Guns-A-GoGo?
Great coverage all week, thanks to Battlefront and BoW!
No napalm bombs ? That’s a good news . Napalm is one of the “dirtiest” weapon of mankind so far
These videos have tempted me to get a third Vietnam force.
Please do a full Battle Report. That would be an amazing end to the week.
BoW, FoW FTW VN week has been blast. Thank you, I’m an old soldier that is going to move to HELICOPTER’S
Great week guys, best themed week you have done.
Great overview of the rules and special conditions that make FoW Vietnam different from its WWII counterpart. I’ll probably just stick to the World War II version, seeing as I just decided to get in before you guys did ‘nam week. That will change if I win one of the prizes obviously.
Great week there chaps thanks
Watching Warren’s reaction to the choice of templates is like watching Bill Hicks do an impression of the first Gulf War. I mean that in a good way.
loving the coverage, give me more!!!
The USA firepower is cool and all but I like a underdog, I think I’m still going to play PAVN when I start.
“Playing with your opponent rather than against him” your right Warren it’s the best way to play.
Does the PAVN player get a FoW dust pan and brush set to complement the American giant template.
Great vid! I’m interested in seeing Daves ANZACS
Great fun to watch keep up the good work
Blimey this looks good!
Warren better be careful, looks like the historical bug has got him in a bad kind of way, which oddly enough, is a good thing….. Templates….gotta love the templates…..
yay free stuff
Am I the only one bothered by the way the chopper windows have been done? The choppers themselves are really cool, but It seems like a lost chance not having clear plastic windows behind which you can see the pilots.
Great conclusion of the game, already went and bougth ToD.
Cheers for the demo games, a good format hopefully to be continued.
fantastic coverage of the theatre of war in nam.
cant think of another game i would rather get into
It was a really good introduction for this. Thank you very much. I guess I have to convince some guys in my club to start this system. Looking forward to the match between Warren and Dave.
Really enjoyed this weeks worth of videos, and that’s from someone who hasnt really been interested in Flames of War much previously, I’ve always been a bit put off by the scale.
This was a pretty awesome series of videos. Now the only question left in my mind is whether I should invest in this, or the new Rising Storm series of miniatures for FoW…
bang bang !! thiuthiu
^__^
Can’t wait to jump into Vietnam, you guys really convinced me!
Thx guys for the brief overview of Nam… At first I thought, no Nam for me.. I’ll stick to wwii.. But as days went on and clips appeared, I just think that Nam will be just another part of my FoW experience, once I finished the armies i am right nowworking on….Thx a lot….
Nuts… I currently have a part painted Russian Army. Why have you now made me want to get a PAVN army too?
On that note it looks like the PAVN player has to buy and paint lots of stuff, which is then slaughtered, while the US player gets some nice helicopters, artilery off table and a few troops… why would you be the PAVN (other than the mentioned moral victory)?
I agree this game does look like something where you play with your opponent to make awesome game rather than simply trying to win
good work!
Great week
Good and thorough, well done guys.
A fair point made about the PAVN having the moral victory, bet that gets old pretty quick as you are being decimated by rockets though
it looks like this game does an awesome job of presenting two very different styles of play, while managing to make them both feel rewarding and entertaining. The NVA player gets the grim satisfaction of watching wave after wave of infantryman rise from the grave like flippin’ zombies to continue hammering the Americans, while the U.S. gets to enjoy the glee than inevitably follows hammering those zombies into dust with helicopter-fired rockets.
This game is so full of win, I can hardly stand it.
Flames of War Vietnam the game looks amazing. The American’s ability to unleash enough fire power to destroy an entire company is great; but you got to love the PAVN’s ability to just replace their lost comrades. Wasn’t sure of Vietnam as a setting now I might have to rethink that.
Air cav all the way
Best theme week yet guys. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Especially nice touch with the music. And i liked the multiple unboxings spread over the week.
I’m going on a copy+paste mission now to maybe win an army. If not, i’ll be buying one anyway.
Great run through guys, I can’t wait for a full bat rep from warren and Dave on fow ftw.
And of course it all ends with helicopters 😀
I love the way they are able to balance to very different styles of armies
fantastic week, kept me “busy” at work 😉
Great walk through series explaining clearly and simply the basics
You knew Warren was waiting for this turn so he could play with that template again.
Great coverage this week. Really featured this game well.
Come on warren and dave rambo 2 a one man army against an army army
A good way to tie up the end of the series.
Great week guys, thanks for supporting a great game!
Ben
Great theme week. Thanks again.
Sooo, WWII or ‘Nam? It’s a hard choice
Those NVA models are just begging to be part of my Godzilla diorama.
The vids made me think about playing vietnam
