Des tranchées aux barricades are back on Kickstarter right now with a new project that explores France during 1944 and the liberation of Paris and the country towards the end of World War II. This new project focuses on the Vichy Security Forces, including the infamous Milice française and the Groupes mobiles de réserve.

Vichy Security Forces - des tranchees aux barricades

Vichy Security Forces // Des tranchées aux barricades

This project was very much inspired by a speech given by Marshal Pétain that set some of France on the path to collaboration with Nazi Germany. Afterwards, the Milice française, created by the Régime de Vichy came to be - a nationalist, authoritarian, anti-republican, anti-Semitic and anti-communist organisation.

From this, the paramilitary branch, the Franc-Garde, was formed, which fought against the French Resistance and attempted to suppress it at every opportunity. They were a terrible organisation that committed numerous crimes and acts of violence, so if you're looking for someone for your French Resistance troops to fight on the tabletop, this might be just the villains you've been looking for.

Fun fact, Des tranchées aux barricades were very much inspired by one of the Osprey Publishing books, Vichy French Security Troops, in the creation of this new line of miniatures. Perhaps use this as your guide for painting up these miniatures!

Miniature Pledges & Options

There are a couple of options to choose from when it comes to diving into this campaign. Each pledge comes with options for it to be delivered to you digitally as well as a way to get the rewards as physical miniatures if you prefer.

Milices Francaise - des tranchees aux barricades

Milices Francaise // Des tranchées aux barricades

You could get your hands on the Milices Francaise set (above), which comes with the miniature for Joseph Darnand that we saw painted above as well as your Bugler, Standard Bearer, twelve Miliciens and that Light Machine Gun Team.

If you're seeking to expand and bulk out your collection, then there is also the Groupes Mobiles des Reserve set.

This comes with two Officers, another Light Machine Gun Team, twelve Policemen and then a range of heads for you to mix and match throughout your new figure collection. All of the Policemen are armed with a variety of different light weapons, so you've got a good mix to play with.

There is also the GMR Support Group, which introduces some more miniatures that would be perfect for scenario play.

You get a Citroën U23 truck with its crew, Brandt Mle 1935 60-mm mortar team, Hotchkiss M1914 machine gun team and then a range of additional heads which can be used to customise your miniatures.

There are a few more options for you to choose from as part of the Kickstarter that give you different ways to combine various packs, as well as get everything that you've seen above in a single bundle. You can also get this Add-On for a set of Parisian Insurgents who are going to be trying to kick the ass of the Vichy!

You can also get the rules for their own game as part of the Kickstarter project (more found HERE), as well as all of the updated army lists for the various units that you see here so you can use them in your games.

This range of miniatures would also be absolutely perfect for playing games like 02 Hundred Hours and if you're seeking a few more plastic miniatures to use in your games, you could always look to the Partisans set that Wargames Atlantic produced!

I like that we've got a company like this diving into some of the smaller conflicts that went on during World War II that don't always get the same attention as the big actions by the Allies and the Axis. This lays the groundwork for some fun and interesting skirmishes on the tabletop, especially ones packed with subterfuge! Get a Gamesmaster involved and have a bit of fun, I say!

What do you make of these new miniatures?
