Spectre Miniatures has added a new set of 28mm miniatures to their collection for those looking to build up interesting forces for Modern Warfare-era conflicts. The latest soldiers to be armed are their Local Forces Squads.

Equipped for prolonged engagements and long patrols, this set of soldiers come carrying all of their essentials. They have day packs, plate carriers and loads of extra magazines for when the fighting gets fierce and it continues indefinitely. Each of the miniatures in the standard Local Forces Squad comes armed with an AK47 but also one of them gets an underbarrel grenade launcher for when things heat up.

As well as those standard troops, Spectre has also sculpted up a set of soldiers to aid in support.

This set comes with additional equipment that can be used to stop the enemy in its tracks. You've got an AT4 and the NLAW plus ways to deal with infantry in the form of the RPG 7.62 and the PKM. You've also got a marksman armed with a suppressed M82 .50 Cal with added thermal attachment. No hiding from that fellow.

All of the miniatures here have been designed to be used to represent the National Armed Forces of Europe, South America and the Middle East and would fit in anywhere depending on what camouflage you paint on their uniforms. A solid option for those wanting to build up the core of a Modern Military force to use on the tabletop.

As Spectre has said, you could use these as Conscripts (Militia), Regular Soldiers (Trained) or Experienced Veteran Soldiers (Professional) depending on the kind of game you're planning on putting together. The "Standard" look to these soldiers also means that they would be very serviceable in other games including Near Future and Sci-Fi. There's always time for a few "what if?" scenarios in my book.
